I used to have White-Westinghouse front-loaders, and I loved them. Unfortunately, they stopped making them, so I went to a Maytag top loader. When we moved here, I used the appliances that came with the house, till one of them broke down. I was delighted to be able to get another front-loader! I'm still glad I got it, though there are a few things I'd like changed on it. There are three places to put detergent, softener & bleach, but I still haven't been able to figure out if I can use my powdered Borax...or where. It amazes me that the machine seems to be able to tell when it doesn't need to run as long as it says it will, when you start it. I have to say the long time it does take, to do a load, really bothered me. Today, for the 2nd or 3rd time, the clothes got tangled together to the point the machine stopped. Of course, I didn't find that out till I went down to move them to the dryer, so I had to take those heavy, WET things (jeans) out and untangle them; then I was able to put them on the spin cycle, which did drain them and spin them dry. Thank goodness they had already gotten through the rinse cycles (at least I HOPE they did) before the washer shut off! As people have said, the clothes do seem to get tangled together, though I'm pretty sure they did in my top loader, too. I don't have any problem with my doors swinging shut. That's just a matter of the leveling of the machines. As a matter of fact, my washer door swings back, when it's all the way open, as does the dryer door. The HOT setting on this machine is why I bought it, though I didn't realize it only used hot once during the cycle. I was hoping for a whole hot wash. One thing I've noticed is my nylon underpants have several "runs" in them, and I'm just about positive they have come from the machine. I wondered if anyone else has that problem.
