I wanted to love this, but I like my lip products thicker and with some lasting power. This stuff feels silky and gives a light sheen, but it disappears almost instantly. It's really not great for lasting hydration. I'd rather have it than nothing, but other than the initial silky feel, this one doesn't have much to offer. I suspect it might be a good choice for a smoochable lip product, but the constant need to reapply and the fact that it doesn't really layer well (no way to get a thicker application no matter how much you try) makes it underwhelming to me.

Blistex Silk & Shine goes on soft and smooth, but it doesn't last long. I had to reapply frequently. Not sure how well the sunscreen part works as it didn't seem to last through any long periods of outdoor activity. It does give temporary relief, but nothing long lasting.

Just a small amount o the lips is all it takes to lock in moisture and keep the lips protected. I suffer from chapped lips during the cooler times of the year and I find that Blistex Silk and Shine Lip Protectant and Sunscreen is a very useful product to protect against chapped lips or heal them once already chapped. It even adds the extra protection against UV rays with 15 SPF protection. I find that this protection against the suns rays isn't very important to me because the sun is usually too weak during the cool season when I need this product, but it could be very beneficial to other people. One fact about Blistex Silk and Shine Lip Protectant and Sunscreen that deserves special mention is that it tends to make the lips look glossy and shiny. This is very different from Chap Stick and other brands. For this reason, men in particular need to use only a very small amount at a time or use it only when staying indoors for the day. Women, on the other hand, will probably like the glossiness and use it for that reason alone. **Bottom Line Viewpoint:** Blistex Silk and Shine Lip Protectant and Sunscreen is a very good product for lip protection from one of the best companies in the business. If shiny lips are your thing, you will love this product. For the rest of us, it is still a very good protectant against sore, dry, chapped lips. Blistex is known for their high quality lip products and their products pretty much stick up the claim with the Blistex Silk and Shine.  It comes in a small, twist tube like lipstick.  The products glides on the lips very easily so it is not thick.  It leaves the lips pleasantly shining but not so much as lip gloss would, so if you want something make your lips shiny but not to the point of resorting to lip gloss then this will work well for you. The smell is quite pleasant with a nice sweet candy like smell, but if you dislike scented lip protectants than I suggest you not buy this despite it not saying it is any particular scent.  However, if you like candy sweet scent than this should work for you.  Though do not expect it to have a candy like taste as it has a medicinal like taste for me, so if you sometimes accidently lick your lips I would avoid this. Bonus, this also has spf if you find it hard to find one with spf with a sweet scent. Overall, the product does its job in moisturizing your lip leaving the nice and soft while leaving a pleasant glisten to them. I bought this on a whim due to the attraction to the product's appearance.

Blistex Silk and Shine Lip Protectant and Sunscreen is my very favorite chapstick.  Now that I've tried this, nothing else can come close to comparing.  First of all I love the smell.  It doesn't say it has a smell, but it kind of smells a little berry like.  Whenever I apply it people around me are always saying, what's that smell?  They usually just smell something and think it's lotion it smells that good.  Second of all, it really lives up to the title, it makes your lips really shiny.  I normally wear lipstick all the time, but for some reason when I wear this my lips are shiny enough that they look good with nothing else applied.  I love that it has sunscreen in it to protect my lips too.  Most other chapsticks out there with sunscreen seem really thick and don't glide easily on lips, this one is perfect.  It's just like chapstick in the fact that it's not a goopy gel you put on, you use it just like chapstick, but it seems to work so much better.  Love this product.

SILK and SHINE in a lip protectant with sunscreen.  By blistex. This lip protectant isn't a chap stick or a lip glosser.  It goes on smooth and slick and stays put for hours.  Silk and shine not only looks like a great shine to be worn under or over lipstick.  Or just all by itself.  It is a great name product that has been around since your mom or grandmother.  But, not this Blistex product.  It not only soothes and heals dry, chapped or burned lips.  It also adds  that silky smooth shine that we all love in our lip product these days.  It's not your mom's old blistex.  It's now silky smooth with a great shine.

I love this Blistex product, it makes my lips so silky smooth without a bad taste and sticky feeling I find other lip products can have. It also has no smell which is very nice. My boyfriend hates lip products and how they feel but this is one he likes. Which is good for me who loves lip chap. The only down side is that it disapers very quick. I normally have to re-apply every half hour or so. All around I would suggest this product as being one of the best blistex products because you dont have to stick your finger into a little pot and get them all sticky and gross just to get the product onto your lips.  This is also a bonus during cold season to not have to spread the germs which are on your hands directly into contact with your mouth. The design and colour of the container are nice. The product is also affordable, the product is larger than most lip chaps I have used so the value is good and you can often find them on sale.

About two weeks ago I bought Blistex Silk & Shine lip protectant SPF 15, because my lips were getting a little dried out and chapped. The main reason I bought this instead of other lip protectants was because this one has SPF 15 and the other had SPF 4 (really SPF 4? I thought it was a joke.) After using this for about two weeks now, I must say I have mixed feelings. If your lips are chapped and you are looking for something to heal your lips and prevent them from becoming chapped again, this is not the product for you. However, if your lips are healed and you are looking for a product to just give you're lips a nice silky feel then this is the product for you. This did not heal my lips, but my lips are silky and if you apply this like 24/7 you can help to prevent your lips from becoming chapped. So I guess my feelings are this: I will not buy this again. I don't regret buying it though. I was glad I tried it, and now I know that next time I should try a different lip protectant. One that protects and heals. And by the way, if you do apply it all the time (like I do at work), it will leave you with a nasty waxy taste in your mouth.

I have  been  using  Blistex  silk  and shine for the last 7 years, it is my all time favorite thing in the world.  It taste good, and feels great on your lips  and  gives  them  a  slight  glisten.  It dosn't smell or taste waxy and goes on smooth and soft.  Its great because there is sunscreen in the formula  so  you  do not  have  to  worry  about protecting  your  lips  if  your  in  the sun a lot.  I always keep a tube in my purse, I feel lost with out it.  I do  not  like the menthol chapsticks so this  one  is  great  becasue  it  dose  not  have that minty flavor or tingle when you put it on.  I would suggest this to anyone to use, It is a little feminine so maybe  a  man  would  not  want  to be  seen  using  it  but  it is a  great  product  to  use,  And it is inexpensive! You can use one tube for a few weeks  and  it  is  so  cheap!  I  will  probably use  this  product  as long  as  it  is  available  to me.

I have used Blistex silk & shine lip protectant and sunscreen off and on for the past ten years.  It's a little bit more expensive than your average chapstick, but it is well worth the cost.  This lip balm smells, tastes and looks fantastic!  As the name would imply, this lip balm goes on smooth as silk, not waxy or sticky as is the case with other lip balms that claim to moisturize.  It doesn't really add any color to your lips, but it gives it a nice shine that looks pretty without being glossy or overly shiny.  It keeps my lips shiny and moisturized year round.  As an added bonus, Blistex silk & shine has an SPF15 to save your lips from skin cancer.  One last thing I should mention is the container that it comes in.  I love the twist up container with the protective lid...and how the chapstick is never flat at the tip, always rounded.  Overall, a very pleasant lip protectant that is both pretty and practical.
