Very Practical

A great product with a 30-40 minute battery life on one charge.  Well balanced and easy to handle.  Somewhat on the pricey side but if you watch for sales (I bought this one when the Father's Day sales were going on.) you can save some money.

Not pleased with Hedge Hog Trimmer speed/battery

1

I'm not satisfied with Hedge Hog cordless hedge trimmer because of the slow speed and the fact that the batteries are unsatisfactory. I have used every outlet in my home and garage to charge the batteries hoping that it would make a difference. I have charged the batteries for days at a time and it makes no difference. I usually can cut ONE or TWO boxwood shrubs PER CHARGE.  Please shop around.....I believe I would rather go electric than deal with this inferior product.

Handy tool to make yardwork easier

This is a handy tool for light to moderate hedge trimming. If you already own other rechargable black and decker tools in the same line, its a plus to have the additional battery packs to switch.  Its nice to not have a cord to get tangled up in, or try to start a gas powered one after it was sitting in the garage all winter long.  I did give it five stars for how I use this tool for the practical use I believe it was intended... light to moderate hedge trimming around the house.  If you have a lawncare business and/or looking for more of a commercial application, then this is not the hedge trimmer for you.  Also, if you only have this one rechargable lawn care tool with one battery pack  you may be disappointed that the battery may not last for the entire project and that you will have to recharge it before finishing your task.  My response is, it's a rechargable battery, its only going to last so long, thats a given.  The advantage here is that there is an entire line of lawncare tools that use the same battery. I own 5 different tools, all of which came with a battery pack that are interchangable. I can get through any project around the house with any one tool when I have 4 backup batteries to finish the job.

B&D trims hedges very well

We bought a Black & Decker Hedge Hog Trimmer to cut back some huge bushes and a hedge that has become unruly with lack of maintenance.  This trimmer was chosen as it was within the price range I was looking for and a known/reliable brand for tools.  The trimmer has blades on two sides making it able to trim in either direction.  The trimmer is plugged in to receive power.  This is definitely lower maintenance than one that uses fuel, but if you have an extensive yard, you may not have an extension cord long enough to reach all the bushes.  The other con to the plug-in style is that you have to avoid trimming the cord while trimming the bushes (I learned the hard way...).  The Hedge Hog is capable of trimming a range of growth from woody sticks to thick/full bushes.  I've even used it to trim limbs up to about 3/4's of an inch in diameter, which quite impresses me.  For a homeowner with bushes to trim, I recommend getting the Hedge Hog.

I'm impressed with my B&D Trimmer

We got this thinking it would be a light hedge trimmer we could use and then if we liked it, we would buy a bigger, better one.  Several seasons later, we are still enjoying this one and have no intention of "upgrading!"  I live in a long, boxy, ranch house on a corner lot, and I have hedges lining the entire front walk (length of the house), plus going down the middle to the street.  In total, I'd say we have at least 200 boxwoods to trim twice each year.  This tool helps me get it done in an afternoon.  I also use it to trim trees and bushes throughout the rest of the yard, as well as knocking down the garden at the end of the season.    It is very easy to hold this in your hands (don't get blisters as I did with my old one), it is light and easy to maneuver around.  I appreciate that I don't have to put gas into it while I'm using it.  It's also not as loud as some of the machines my neighbors are using.

Black & Decker Hedge Hog Trimmer does the job

3

My husband has always done the yard work and I wanted to surprise him by doing some of his "chores" while he was at work. We bought the Black & Decker Hedge Hog Trimmer several years ago and last week I worked up the nerve to use it!   I am not sure what I was so afraid of!  It was so super-duper easy to use! (even without being able to find an instruction book!) The hedge that hadn't been touched in over two years was trimmed in no time.  Not only was my husband happy, but my neighbors were too! :) I do have a few complaints though... the trimmer wasn't heavy when I first started but half way through I had trouble holding the trimmer up high enough to reach what needed to be trimmed.  I understand this is not a problem with the trimmer itself but a design flaw in MY muscle structure.  the only improvement I could think of is for Black & Decker to design a pre-trim work out.  (Not that I would us it, so I guess it really doesn't matter.)  This is a great trimmer for a first time yard worker!!!

The Black and Decker Hedge Hog is a piece of junk.

I bought the Black and Decker electric Hedge Hog 2 years ago and am on my 3rd one under warranty.  The first cut just fine, but the shaft broke.  The 2nd and 3rd ones throw large amonts of string, and I have to stop and rethread it every few feet. I can't afford a new spool every time I need to do the yard.  I've given up on it and have sworn off Black and Decker products.

The Black & Decker Hog Trimmer is the best, and easy to use.

My husband and I bought this product alittle while back, and we are more then satisfied with it's performance and ease of use. We were looking for something that I could use, cause my husband works long hours and needs help with our 3 and a half ac. of landscape. I'm very happy with the Black & Decker Hog Trimmer and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Works fine for small jobs.

The Black and Decker Hedge Hog trimmer isn't fancy, but it gets the job done on smaller shrubs. When I want to get things right (and have time), I use a manual pruner and do the job right, but this trimmer works fine on certain shrubs in my yard. It takes a little coordination to deal with the safety mechanism, but that's easy enough to figure out. I thought the price was right for something like this. If I had a bigger job to do, I would certainly want something a little bigger and more powerful.

The cordless Black & Decker hedge trimmer is a blessing. I have cut up so many extension cords before, it's not even funny. We have 10 acres of ground and the fact this is cordless helps me to move around freely.
