I've never been one to trust leaving a coffee pot plugged in, so I went with this very basic coffee maker. Can't see spending extra for bells and whistles that I won't use. While it's nothing fancy, it gets the job done. I have very hard water, so cleaning it regularly with a vinegar solution is a must to keep it brewing properly. Over much use, the black on the hot plate is starting to chip away, but it hasn't effected the way it keeps the pot hot. I do wish that Black and Decker would make a coffee pot that wouldn't drip! I have owned several of their coffee pots and they all do this. My solution is to always pour above the sink and wipe off the bottom of the pot with a clean kitchen rag before placing back on the hot plate. Design Coffee pot drips!
