We bought this blender to replace another brand that was glass and had broken. We weren't expecting this one to be plastic (the pitcher piece) but it was and that's probably the best thing for our family since things get dropped a lot around here! It works really great for all your basic smoothie making. We haven't tried anything fancy in it and probably won't but for your basic household blender this is a very great and affordable option!
