Would be great if you didn't have to deal with the cord

4

This mower cuts well and evenly. It has a good amount of power for an electric mower and is easy to use. But the pesky chord can be very frustrating. The lawn isn't that large but it can be tough to get the mower to the other end because of the chord. It has to be at just the right angle to get all the way that it needs to go. Performance It has the amount of power you would expect from an electric mower. It can get tough to push of the lawn isn't completely flat. Handling Overal, this handles well. You can take turns fairly easily. Durability This mower holds up well to a lot of use. Safety I am ranking this lower in safety because of the cord. It can easily get tangled and cause you or someone else to trip. It is also possible to accidently run over the cord. Ease of Use The mower itself is very easy to use. It is easy to get started and keep it going. However, it can become cumbersome when dealing with the cord. Sometimes you need to retrace your steps or go around so you can deal with the pesky cord and that makes it more complicated to get your lawn cleanly and quickly cut. Engine Power This has a decent amount of power for its size.

Good but not great

Electric mowers have come a long way since they first came out, but they still suffer from drawbacks that their gas counterparts excel at. The Black and Decker Electric mower is very light weight, very quiet, and easy to maneuver. However, what keeps it from being great is that it isn't as powerful as a gas mower, especially with larger lawns or lawns with thicker grass. It tends to struggle. Another drawback is that it tends to cut a very narrow strip of grass compared to other mowers I have used. This can make it frustrating with a larger landscape. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who isn't able to push a heavy mower around, or someone with a smaller lawn. However if you have a larger yard stick with a gas powered model. Performance It will struggle more with thick grass, and tends to cut a very narrow strip of grass. For larger lawns this can be a problem. Engine Power Struggles in some areas, but for the most part it is surprisingly powerful.

Easy and simple to use

I also own this black and Decker electric lawn mower in addition to a manual push mower. While both mowers each have their own pros and cons, and I enjoy using both, I believe that I would be more likely to use this electric mower. It is very easy and simple to use. The functions are fairly basic and it cuts grass good enough. It mows the lawn evenly and doesn't leave weird spots or patches in your lawn. Because it is electric powered and not gas powered you don't have to deal with gasoline and filling it up with gasoline which was something I was always worried about when deciding on a lawn mower to purchase. It won't give you a free workout like a manual push mower, but in turn, that means it is very easy to use and you won't have to break much of a sweat mowing your lawn. I would definitely recommend this lawn mower as many people do according to all the high reviews on this website. It's a good purchase.

Great for Small Yards

4

I have used this mower for several years. I have trouble starting a gas mower and decided to try an electric. My favorite part. The easy starting. I also do not have to keep and fill a gas can. Performance It just keeps cutting. Like I said I have used it several years and the only thing I have done was have the blade sharpened. I have a lot of small rocks in my yards so that is something I have to have done for any mower. Handling Very light Weight and easy to push. It moves very easily and gets into small areas with easy. I have a slight slope to my yard and it takes it without any trouble. The fact that it is very light helps. Durability Again I have used this mower for several years and it has had not problems. The blade has had to be sharpened as I mention in the previous area but that is true for any mower I have used on my yard. Safety What nice to like. Turn loose of the lever that keeps it running and it stops. It does not throw things out and mulches the grass just fine. Ease of Use Easy to move, easy to start, easy to store. Very light to push, all in all very easy to use. Engine Power It does the job. I don't let my yard get too high so I don't knowhow it would work on a overgrown yard.

Great little mower!

My husband bought this mower to use around our investment properties that have mostly square, level lots and not too much lawn to do (each yard takes under thirty minutes). Electric mowers are great! They are light weight and very easy to push. They never seem to break down and maintenance takes only a minute or so every few uses. My husband loves this mower for quick, reliable usage that has never failed him. In fact, our previous electric mower lasted more than 20 years. Performance Very good, even cutting. Easy to push. Never has gotten jammed on us. Blades are easy to rinse off and sharpen -- which isn't needed that often. Our unit also comes with an optional catchment system, and we use it from time to time to collect grass clippings for mulch or in areas where we don't was the clippings left on the lawn. Handling Light weight and small wheels makes this model very easy to manage and maneuver. It gets into tight places easily. It cuts very close on the sides, so very little weed trimming is needed later to make things look nice, neat, and orderly. Durability Our last electric mower was still working at 20 years old when we handed it down to someone else for their new yard. Safety You just have to be careful with the electric cord so that you don't run over it. Ease of Use Easy. One button push on. Engine Power More than adequate for regular sized city lawns.

The best push lawnmower ever made.

15 yrs and still going strong. Not one repair was done in those yrs. The mulching blade cuts any kinds of grass and leaves no left behind grass, just a clean cut. Performance Runs like a dream, and because it is an electric mower, you have to pay attention to the cord. Once you have the cord down, you can maneuver around it like a pro. I had gas mowers and even a mower that runs on a rechargeable battery, but there is no comparison with this Black and Decker mower. Handling Very lightweight and easy to clean. All that is needed is a good spray with the hose. And since there are no fluids(oil, gas, etc) in the mower, you can easily turn it upside down to clean. Durability Only maintenance is wiping it down after use. Really stands up to anything. This mower has out lasted my two gas powered mowers and a battery powered mower. It is a product that would make Black and Decker proud, and also a proud consumer for a very smart purchase. Also I would like to add that I have never had to sharpen or replace the cutting blades ever. It still cuts the grass as fine as ever and never leaves any clippings behind. Simply love it!! Safety There are no holes for any debris to fly out so it is very safe. It can only be started by holding the lever down while you are pushing the mower. If you let go the mower shuts off so there is no problem starting by itself. And if you feel safer then you can easily unplug it which is also connected on the handle bar. Ease of Use Just plug in the mower and make sure the power cord is securely out of the way and start cutting your grass. It is so easy I wouldn't want any other lawnmower. Engine Power 15 yrs Over twenty years has gone by and this Black and Decker lawnmower is still very powerful and running as strong as the first day I used it.

Love the simplicity and ease of use

Mowing itself is not a chore, but fiddling with the fuel, starting it up, and the chemical odor of the gas powered mower make me hate the task. This great lawnmower takes all the annoyance and misery out of mowing. It uses an extension cord and produces no putrid smell. It's not for huge properties, but for our small back yard and meager little front yard, this is more than sufficient. Performance Cuts the grass perfectly and evenly. Never have a problem engaging the engine and never have any electrical shorts. Handling This unit is so easy to handle-- it's light, maneuverable, and I can push it with almost no force. Durability We've had this mower for two summers so I can't attest to it's long-term durability, but I can say we treat out equipment pretty roughly and this mower is certainly no worse for the wear. I haven't had to do any maintenance on it thus far. Safety Unlike our former mega-mower that sucked up branches and stones and propelled them like deadly projectiles, this mower is heaven. For whatever reason it doesn't get caught up on stones and the like and rarely stalls. Ease of Use The simplicity is what I love best. No messing with fuel, a gliding, easy self-propelled mower. Good for a female head-of-household or certainly for a younger kid who needs some responsibility around the house. Engine Power The engine had never wavered. It maintains from start to finish every time and allows for a smooth even cut (as long as we haven't let the grass grow wild).

Great mower.

Overall this mower it good for any home. Performance I'd say we get near professional results. It's nothing fancy but it does the job. Handling Honestly it takes a minute when it comes to turning the thing around but it still dose alright just no sharp turns. Durability This is one of those things that last almost forever. I've had mine for a couple of years now and it still looks great. It has a few scratches here and there but overall it's in great condition. Safety I'd say its as safe as could be. I've had mowers in the past were a blade would fly off and other dangerous mishaps but I've gotten nothing like that out of this one. Ease of Use One of the reasons why I like this model is because it's one of the more basic ones. It's really easy to use you just start it up and go. My favorite thing about it is it even goes up hills nicely. Engine Power Although I love my mower I will be honest. It has a great engine but still not the best in the world. Sometimes it takes a little longer to start up but that could just be due to age.

Best thing since sliced bread.

I love my black and decker electric lawn mower. It is lightweight and very easy to use. Once you get the hang of setting up the cord so that it follows you, mowing the lawn is pretty much a no brainer. It has a flip handle so that you don't have to turn it around when you reach the end of the row you are cutting. Also very economical to use in light of the outrageous gas prices. You never need to put gas or oil in it or wear yourself out pulling the string to start it like a gas mower. I would never go back to the cumbersome gas mower again. Would recommend this mower to anybody. Great mower at a reasonable price. The adjustable handle makes it easy to hang on your garage wall and it will lay flat and not stick out and take up more room. You can adjust the height to cut your lawn very short or a little longer. I would not suggest scalping the lawn when it is very hot and sunny outside or you can burn up the grass. I usually use the medium height setting and have not had to water the lawn at all this summer. Do yourself a favor and try this one out. You'll never go back to the gas mower. I am a 57 year old grandmother of 6 and would especially recommend this mower for women.

Love it Manicure for the yard.

I was very surprised at how great this mower works. I bought it for the main reason of having a hard time starting a gas powered mower... Well I got a lot more than I bargined for. I have yet to find anything this mower won't mow. Every time I use it, it cuts so great looks like a golf course manicure. I feel safe using it around my pets outside because of the optional open or close for the mulching part of the mower that way it doesn't throw things out. It's not overly loud that I can't hear my kids if they need me while I am mowing the lawn. It uses no gas or oil so that it doesn't create all kinds of fumes...really important since my son was diagonsed with asthma. I do wish there was a way to keep track of the cord better but haven't found it to that big of an inconvience. I also love the fact that if I have to stop for a minute or two to move something or tend to something.. I can just flip the handle and boom restart with a gas mower I'd have to wait for it to cool down a bit before I could restart it... oh and maybe one of the best things is NO ROPE BURN. I always hated a gas mower that when you pulled it and it'd jerk and somehow burn your fingers with the rope...now I have no worries :)
