Last summer we purchased this Black & Decker trimmer, and I used it on Sunday to clear away weeds, small tree shoots and wild rose bushes just off of our back yard area. I have used gas trimmers in the past, but I love this battery operated trimmer because it is much more light weight and much easier on my back - it weighs a mere 5 pounds. It starts with the push of a button, and is very easy to use, and it even comes with an extra battery so it's always ready to use when I need it. The line always self advances, so it makes the job of using it so easy! I am short, only 5'2", but I can shorten or lengthen the shaft to make this work perfectly for me. This thing is powerful, it never gave me any issues, even when cutting through tree shoots that were on the thick side. The guard kept most of the grass and trimmimgs off of my legs, but I did get some of it on my feet (mostly from walking through the cut weeds). It has a cutting swatch of one foot, so it does the job quickly and efficiently. It's also not too terribly loud, which is always a concern for me as I didn't want to bother my neighbors on a Sunday afternoon with loud noises. The Black & Decker Trimmer is perfect for me, but I have not had a need to use it as an edger, so I cannot speak to how well that works. We have a landscaper who comes on Mondays to do that work. I just need this tool for cleaning areas beyond the scope of our limited common area.

The Black & Decker 12" 20V MAX Lithium Trimmer and Edger is great! We picked it up at a great price and this lightweight trimmer worked wonders on our yard that day! The trimmer I had before this one by a different brand was awful! I as constantly getting stuck, didn't trim well especially on longer grass or weeds); but this Black & Decker trimmer was like a dream come true. I was able to trim even very long grass around my steps without stopping once. I was out there for about 20 minutes the first day we got this and I didn't run into a single problem at all. I wouldn't even consider it very noisy. My daughter actually slept through trimming weeds right outside her window and she's not a very heavy sleeper at all. I was so impressed with the quality of this trimmer for the price that I actually picked up a second one as a backup and am even considering giving it to a friend f mine as a gift because she could definitely use a good trimmer as well (Who couldn't?).
