Bought this blender on 1/6/14 - motor died on 1/27/14. I did not read the poor reviews about this item prior to purchase, but thought highly of Black & Decker. Incredibly frustrating - what a piece of JUNK! Shame on you B&D!!!! Blending Power After less than a month of use, There is no power... I received this blender as a gift about 18 months ago. Since then, I have used it on average about three times per week, primarily to make smoothies. I have also used it to puree large batches of vegetables for soup and occasionally used it to make baby food. Typically when I use the blender I just add all of my desired ingredients before turning it on. It does a good job of blending - chopping the ice, mixing the ingredients, etc. I have not had issues with any leaks since I began using it. You do, of course, have to be careful when pureeing something hot in a sealed container due to steam pressure. I usually just wait until the food has cooled sufficiently to avoid any pressure build up/risk an accident or mess. This blender also does a decent job making mixed drinks for the occasional party. It is not as heavy duty as a Ninja or Vitamix - however, for light to moderate use it does just fine. It comes apart easily for cleaning and I have not had difficulties reassembling it. I would purchase it again for light to moderate use.

I really like this blender for the price. It works really well for making smoothies and crushing ice. I personally haven't noticed any issues thus far with it, and I've had it for almost 6 months. Blending Power Has been able to blend anything I've needed and great at crushing ice. Versatility It's not as good as a good processor would be for making things like pesto and soups but it works pretty well and I can still make what I want it. Ease of Cleaning The center of the lid pops off for easy cleaning and you can take the bottom blade off if need be to really get in the bottom of the blender. Ease of Use Many different options from blending, pulsing, crushing, mixing, to high and low which is really nice when making different things with it. Design Looks good on my counter! (the cord wraps up and fits nicely underneath the base to keep it out of site) Durability I've only had it 6 months but so far so good, I use it a lot (almost every day for smoothies) and it has held up really well and I've had not problems thus far.

I am surprised to see the current score on this blender. I have crushed ice for smoothies and blended other things with great success. That being said it is only rated for certain things and those looking to get the power of say a ninja will not find it here. You have to be realistic. Blending Power Again, for what this blender is supposed to be used for it does a fantastic job. No complaints. Versatility I have crushed everything from soft fruits and vegetables to frozen condiments and ice. This blender handled everything with ease. Ease of Cleaning I have literally spent less than three minutes cleaning it up which is less than others I have used In the past. Ease of Use Very straightforward and easy to use. No complaints here. Design Just what I need. Would have been nice to have somewhat thicker blades but it's not that big of an issue. Durability I have had it for a few months now with daily use and so far It operates as if it was brand new.

I love it, it works great for homemade applesauce. Blending Power It has a good variety of settings. Versatility It is just a standard blender, no additional attachments Ease of Cleaning A little difficult by hand, but if you have a dishwasher then okay. Ease of Use I find it easy to use. Design Standard, although mine is bright red. Durability The pitcher is a nice heavy weight glass.

We purchased this blender initially for a party my daughter was having. As it was her 18th birthday, as part of the theme, we set up a mock cocktail bar. My old blender was in no way going to be able to handle the types of specialty drinks she wanted to serve so, after researching various blenders on the internet, we settled on this one as the reviews I found were favorable. This blender was great for straight mixed type drinks. It even produced that nice bit of froth on top! When it came to blending the more specialty drinks (those requiring dense materials such as ice, chucks of fruit, etc), however, we found that it worked well enough but only if we mixed up small batches/amounts at a time and "pulsed" the mixture a lot. If we tried to mix up more than a couple of cocktails worth of ingredients at a time, it just got overwhelmed and left larger pieces in the drink. We also found that the blades dulled rather quickly but I believe that was due to the frequent use of ice in a number of the drinks being made. Overall, for straight blending it does the job but for those "heavy duty" jobs, go small!

I wanted a new glass blender to replace the one I've had for 20 years. Unfortunately, I've had to go back to using my old blender because this one is unreliable. Blending Power When it works, it works well. However, sometimes it possesses zero blending power. Versatility I have used it to blend smoothies, juice fruits and vegetables, crush ice, puree soups, grind nuts, and make flour from wheat berries. It is a true multi-tasker. Ease of Cleaning It is easy to fill with water and blend quickly to clean. It also fits well in a dishwasher and comes out clean every time. Design I like the hefty glass pitcher and the compact design that takes up little space on my countertop. Durability After having the blender for only a few months, the motor started showing signs of wear. Now, I never know when I plug it in if it's going to work. Some days it works like a charm, and other days it won't turn on.

Got as a gift, and was a little worried that it would not do the job since I had gotten a Black and Decker before, and it was returned to the store the following day, but I was surprised that it worked really well. I also liked that it added a little color to my kitchen since I usually get black or white appliances, so something red was a good.
