This is a very capable board. What I like about it is that it has a huge cooler and nice graphics card support. Let's be honest though, that placement is pretty bad. With the way Biostar configred this motherboard, you can only support crossfire (dual). triple is not possible unless they really shrink the technology for graphics cards in the nearby future. I personally do not mind as dual crossfire is just fine for me. The new 6990 is coming out and it would totally rock on this motherboard. You can SLI hack this board, even though it is AMD. A bit of a pain and nothing guaranteed but it can be done. Out of the box though this motehrboard will not support SLI configured graphics cards. It overclocks very well and is able to run cool temps, as long as the support is there.

It was recommended to me over and over again on the online forums that I look into biostar's line up for my upcoming computer built. I am glad I took a look because I found out and research just how good the biostar TA890FXE really is. The only reason why people mainly get a third-party motherboard is for the overclocking potential. I mean, if you do not care about the overclocking performance, and any motherboard really is at work for you. So what separates one motherboard from another? Well as I said earlier, it's mainly or clocking potential and head room that it provides to the processor. This biostar unit is known for is overclocking and although I am not taking my processor to its limits, all indications lead to this motherboard being a very capable and potent overclocker. It seems like a fantastic bargain.

I really like this motherboard. Biostar usually makes budget motherboards but they really upped the bar with the ta890fxe. This motherboard is a very high performance board that is capable of some very impressive overclock performance. It has really everything that you need asking necessary RAM, it supports the right processors, that's multiple graphic card slots, and there is even a display to show your error codes and temperatures. There are impressive cooling on this board and so far I have not run into any heat issues. The board also uses only solid caps which is an indication of high quality. The board is relatively cheap compared to others and yet it performs extremely well. As others have said online, this is one of the best boards that you can purchase for AMD.

First time Biostar user and I had my doubts about this motherboard. It's way too cheap to be a good board was the perception and mentality that I had going into my computer build. But i was strapped for cash and I needed a cheap motherboard that was an AM3 board. Heard a ton of good stuff about the 890FXE and because of my income at the time, decided to give this Biostar board for a try with a ton of hesitation. I got everything dialed in, overclock is all done, timings are all pulled etc and my overall impression on this motherboard is that it is a solid AM3 motherboard. It is extremely good at overclocking the processor. It doesn't have 8+2 phase like some of the more expensive boards out there but it doesn't seem to matter at all as this Biostar board does just fine. The bios is a bit hard to maneuver around but you get the hang of it quick. The only drawback to this board is that it's not so great with ram overclocking. The max ram speed is 1800 with overclock.

This board from Biostar is an insanely strong board. For boards that are for AMD, it is honestly one of the best boards you can buy right now before Bulldozer, the new line of AMD processors comes out. For AM3 phenom II processors, this is one of the most competent and strongest boards for performance. The next contender, an Asus Crosshair, is double what this costs. It is true that the Asus Crosshair has more features like USB 3.0 as well as better space graphic slots (the biostar ta890fxe has the same number of graphics slots but it's closely packed, making it realistically only have 2 graphic slots) but in terms of performance and overclocking, the 890FXE is considered equals if not better than the Asus crosshair. This is why you see extreme hobbyists have liquid nitrogen with their 890fxe boards. It is because the 890FXE from Biostar is capable of some serious overclocking and they want to see how high they can go with L2N (liquid nitrogen). It is a very cheap and serious performing board.
