Beaba, Baby!

So you decide to venture into making your own healthy baby food for your little one - great! All you need is the food, a stove, a pot, a steaming basket for the pot, time to sit and babysit food in steaming basket in pot, and of course a food processor to turn the consistency of the steamed food into something palatable for the eager new taste buds. Uncomplicated, no? Ha! Look no further. Beaba Babycook is the simplest way to create baby food. Dice up your food, put it in the steamer basket, fill the unit with the appropriate amount of water, turn it on and walk away! Food steams quickly and easily with no mess - bonus! When the light clicks off, just remove the basket from the cup and pour the food from the basket to the cup and blend. That's it! All in one unit. No fire or stove to worry about. No pulling out every pot and kitchen appliance in order to make a meal for your baby. Easy clean up and simple to store since it's all one piece and is so tiny. A must have for any mom!

A small steaming/blender/defrosting-in-one for baby food.

I don't know how I'd make homemade baby food without the babycook. Combined with the babycook book and freezer trays, I'm set for creating great healthy meals for my baby. The cook is easy to use, comes with recipes and directions and it's pretty easy to just throw something in, press a button and come back in 10 minutes. The capacity is great for my baby right now ( 7 months ) although I worry it might be to small in the coming year. Also, mine has only been used about 15 times and it already needs descaling which is kind of a pain but it beat getting out a steamer, blending, pots, pans, etc. I'm excited to keep trying new recipes with it and that also beats spending .99 a jar on organic baby food!

Beaba is Best

5

We love cooking healthy meals so naturally we want the same for our son. He's started eating solid foods so we started with Earth's Best baby food jars. They are organic with no adatives but they aren't FRESH. My sister gave us a Beaba Babycook as a gift and it is PERFECT. Because it steams the food, it keeps most of the nutrients and is better for the baby to eat. I love that it is easy to operate and cleanup is a breeze. Instead of using lots of different tools in the kitchen we only need one. You can turn the machine on and then walk away from it, it couldn't be easier. The steaming basket is small, but remember that you are making small meals for a small baby. On the plus side it keeps the whole machine looking petite and it doesn't take up to much counter space.

Love that I can make baby food with the Beaba!

I am the WORST cook ever so I was a little intimidated to make my son's baby food. I read all the reviews of the Beaba and decided to give it a try. I LOVE how simple it is to use and clean. It steams and purees the food in one container so all you have to clean is the steaming basket, the spatula, and the blending container. The blades screw off and I put the blade and bottom plastic screw in a mesh dishwasher basket meant for bottle nipples. I put the pureed food into ice cube trays and then freeze them in zip lock containers. You can also use the bowl for re-heating but I just use the defrost mode in a glass bowl in the microwave. I like that you do not need a lot of space to store this either; it is quite compact. I often leave it out on the counter and don't think it is an eyesore either. Part of the compact design is one of the drawbacks, though. Due to the size, you are not able to make large batches at one time. For example, I am able to steam/puree enough chopped pieces of sweet potato to fill one ice cube tray. If you are doubting your ability to make baby food, the Beaba makes it really easy!

Beaba Babycook - Just okay

I purchased the Beaba after reading many reviews and was excited that it steams, purees, and reheats baby food all in one little machine. I've only used the machine about 5 times, but already I know it's almost more trouble than it's worth. For starters, the direction pamphlet is not written very well. They name, then rename, the same parts of the machine leaving the reader confused on what part they are referring. However, once you figure out how it all works, it's not too complicated, other than having a lot of parts that require locking and unlocking and if you happen to forget a step, it's rather annoying having to take apart the entire thing just to get back to an original step. It is nice to just cut up a vegetable, stick it in the machine, and walk away for 15 minutes while it steams rather than having to stick around in a kitchen to make sure a boiling pot doesn't get out of control. However, it only cooks a small amount of food. I was only able to fit in about 3 cut up carrots in the machine at one time - and at that rate I'd be cooking food all day just to stock up my freezer on a basic level for the baby. Lastly, it gets really, really, hot. You can probably only reasonable go thru about 3 cooking cycles before having to give the machine a rest for awhile so it can cool down. As for the chopping function, it's just okay - no different than any food processor -- and as for the reheating, I have not tried it yet, it seems easier to just defrost the food in the microwave rather than to dirty up the machine just for 1/4 of a cup of food. All in all, it's neat in theory but probably easier to just cook vegetables another way and use an emersion blender.

I love this machine. I recieved it for my birthday when my son was 5 months old and started making food and freezing it immediatly. Before using the babycook I had tried steaming veggies in a steam basket on the stove and pureeing them in my food processor. I dirtied so many dishes and wasted so much time doing this. Was it easy? yes, any fool could do it. But was it fun and time saving to do this with an infant? NO!! I was amazed at home easy using the babycook was. You just chop your fruit and veggies, put into the basket, look at the chart to see how much water to add, and turn it on! When its done cooking you just dump the basket into the bowl and turn the switch to puree and its done!! Some of the complaints have been that it does make enough volume of baby food in one setting but if I fill the steam basket full I can get easily 5-6 3 oz servings out of one which gets me a whole week worth of lunches!!

Babycook is not only good for the kid but good for the parents

When we first got this I was real skeptical.  I figured that the babyfood on the shelves was actually good enough.  So I didn't want anything to do with this thing and left it up to my wife to do.  She can do all the chopping, steaming and blending.   She can do all the freezing; unfreezing etc etc.  I'll do my part by picking up the baby food jars.   Then I started reading the labels on these jars.  Have you seen how much preservatives and sodium are in these things?  Then I started reading up on nutrition, something I didn't think I would've have done before my son was born.  I've learned, as much as possible, make your baby's food from scratch and use pure and healthy ingredients.  This babycook makes that process easier.  An hour on Sunday and we've got puree's for the week!  (side note:  the locking mechanism for the steaming basket and blender base gets some getting used to, just like getting used a standard food processor). There has been a healthy side-effect.  Since we started buying fresh and organic fruits and vegetables to cook in our babycook, we couldn't help but eat those fruits and veggies ourselves.  Without even trying, we were replacing potato chip calories with calories from apples and pears.

My Beaba really cooks!

I was looking for an easy way to prepare homemade meals for my infant. Sure, I *could *cook everything in a pot, then drain it and mash it by hand, but I have 4 other children. My life is hectic. I needed something that would help simplify my life a little. So, when I heard about the Beaba there was no hesitation. When it arrived I was anxious to give it a try. I pulled out some carrots, cut them up, and tossed them in the basket (after washing everything first of course). As the instructions stated, I added some water to the well and turned it on. Immediately it started cooking. In about 15 minutes it was done and ready to be pureed. All I had to do was open the lid, dump the carrots into the bottom of it, and turn the knob to the right. As it blended, I added a little water. Voila! A healthy, preservative and additive free meal for my youngest. Clean up is a sinch too! A simple rinse with warm soapy water did the trick. No scrubbing needed. It doesn't get easier then this!

I am certainly not a cook by any means (my husband cooks our meals), but I have made all of our baby food so far thanks to the babycook.  It is so easy to use.  I know that a lot of people say that you can steam the food and puree it without this special appliance.  That is true, but it is SO much easier with it.  I made one set of mangos without this and I would not have kept making my daughter's food without the babycook.  It is simple to use and so easy to cleanup, which is important to me.  It isn't very big so it won't take up a lot of counter or cabinet space.  You can make a lot of food quickly by doing several batches back to back.  You can also walk away during the steaming process since it will cut off when the food is steamed, unlike the stove.  This is extremely important when you have a baby to tend to!  I love making the food myself and knowing exactly what my daughter is eating.  Another friend mentioned how much she thinks she is saving since she can make several servings for the price of one jar.  It will pay for itself if you use it regularly.

So Easy Anyone Can Make Baby Food

4

This product makes baby food making so easy that anyone can do it. You put your small pieces of fruits or vegetables (or I supposed meat, although I haven't used it that way) in the steamer basket, put water in the tank and switch the dial to steam. The Babycook steams each food perfectly. When it is done, remove the steamer basket, poor the steamed fruits and veggies back into the container and blend it up. It can puree to a variety of consistencies, perfect for those just starting baby foods and chunkier purees for older children. When you're done, it's easy to hand wash. I believe it's also dishwasher safe, although I prefer to hand wash mine. It's small and takes up little space. I am very picky about what my children put in their mouths. Babies are born free of preservatives and other icky things and I'd like to keep my baby that way. The Beaba Babycook has allowed me to keep control of exactly what my baby ingests. It comes with a cookbook that provides easy to follow instructions. I love that it is one machine that can do it all! Anyone can make their own baby food.
