My great aunt gave me one of these for a Christmas gift. I thought it was an interesting idea and I had had several hand-operated can openers break, so I decided to give it a try. The first time I tried it, I was impressed. It did exactly as advertised with little effort and opened the can. At first I thought, "This is great, I can leave the can opener running and turn to another task, like chopping an onion". I quickly realized that that wasn't wise, as sometimes the can opener will cause the entire can to flip over off the counter when it is done opening. It loosens, and tomato sauce goes all over the floor. So you do have to stand there while it is running. It also seems to go through batteries quickly. So, I will probably stick with the hand can openers in the future, but this is a great product for older people or anyone who can't quite grasp the hand can opener to operate it easily.

I recieved a battery operated hands free can opener for Christmas, and returned it to the store the day after Christmas.  Don't let anyone tell you that these are the best, they are not!  They can't be used on all cans, and they stop and you have to manually make it finish or back off the rest of the cans.  Give me a hand operated or electric can opener any day.  (If my sons or husband is reading this a new electric can opener will be gladly accepted.)
