Great Netbook for Traveling

5

I was looking a small enough computer so I can bring around. This ASUS netbook solved that problem. It's portable and it can do what a regular laptop can do. I'm able to run multiple programs at the same time with it's Intel Atom processor and 1GB memory. It has a built-in 1.3MP webcam that I can use for video conferencing. It does have a VGA connector to connect to external monitor or projector which works really well. However, it does not have other connectors other than USB ports and LAN connection. The built-in wireless is fast, I can easily connect to networks with no problem. This netbook is available in three colors, pink, blue and black. It comes loaded with Windows XP which is better than the newer Vista. I have been using this netbook for getting online and running programs with no hardware conflicts. The battery is 3-cell and depending on how much programs is running, the battery will last at least 3 hours running time and 2 days standby. Just like any netbooks, this netbook does not have a CD-ROM drive.

I think that this laptop is really great quality.  Of course i have seen laptops with more and better things.  This laptop just gets the job done though.  It is not extremely expensive or very cheap.  It is a good mid range price with very good durability.  I believe that everyone is who is in the heavy work situation should purchase this laptop.  It does all of the qualities that i need it to do and even more.  I can access internet where there is internet available.  It also has enough space for me to hold all my  computer games, and work stuff.  It is like the best of both worlds.  I think once you buy this laptop you will just absolutely fall in love with it.  It has other special features too such as skype.  Yes you can add skype to this computer.  Facebook is big for me and youtube.  And with this laptop i can do both at the same time.  It is just all within my fingertips.  Its like i have magic at my access whenever i want.

The Asus EeePC does what I need in one tiny package.

When my big old laptop started dying, I looked into the various options. I was a little leary of buying such a small computer, and I wasn't sure whether it would be powerful enough, but a classmate had recently purchased an Eee PC and it was serving her well. I took the leap of faith. I'm very glad I did. Just a quick definition- the EeePC is a netbook, and this means it has no optical drive (CD-ROM or DVD). If you want to watch DVDs or install all your old programs, you will need an external optical drive that can connect via a USB port. If, however, you think you can manage without, this little gem may serve you just fine. Its first major selling point is its size. It doesn't fit into a pocket, but it will slip into a purse, leave plenty of space in your briefcase, or fit into that last tiny bit of space in your backpack. This makes bringing the computer along much less of a hassle. My ancient Dell was about 15 pounds and gigantic. This little computer is very lightweight. The exact weight will depend on the battery option you choose, but I have the longest-life battery and it is still so leight that I don't notice it in my bookbag. Which brings me to another major issue, battery life. There are several options, but not much difference in price, so I sprang for the longest-lived one available. It's billed as a 10.5 hour battery life. In real life, as long as you're doing basic computer operations, it lasts at least a good 8 hours. Streaming video on battery power is much more draining, but mine usually lasts an hour or so in this situation. the cons- the keyboard is smaller than the average one. I wouldn't buy this if I had very large hands, but it's not the worst option out there. I believe it's 80% of the normal size.

It's small and portable. That's about it.

I bought my EEE PC Asus as a supplement to my standard Macbook.  I used my Macbook as my standard computer, and the EEE when traveling.  Going back and forth between the PC and Mac was a pain, as was constantly having to transfer files from one to the other.  As an internet laptop, the EEE worked great - but it quickly came down with viruses and whatnot that required days to fix (did I mention I'm technically challenged?).  It is easy to use, but I found that the touch mouse pad was far too touchy; it drove me nuts.  It was always doing things I didn't intend because it was so sensitive.  I never figured out how to adjust it.  I also found it difficult to work on for long periods of time because the screen and keyboard are so small.  The small screen makes it difficult to multi task and have multiple windows open.  As a small, portable laptop, it's great.  But it doesn't replace your main computer/laptop.  And the touch mouse pad is ridiculously sensitive.  I sold it to a friend after less than year.  I decided it wasn't worth it and I just needed to suck it up and lug my Macbook around.

Amazing Laptop full of features and very easy to use!!!!

This computer is amazing. When you are looking to buy a netbook, there are alot of questions that get asked. The major reason I like this netbook is because of the keyboard. The keyboard is a lot larger than the average netbook laptop computer. As a guy with large hands, I found myself with other netbooks, scrambling to type in something correct. Not anymore with this Asus laptop. The battery life is amazing on here. You can adjust your power settings when you first start up the laptop, and choose dimness and power usage. I do not require a lot of brightness, so that keeps my battery level around 10 or so hours. It stays charged for days it seems. Another cool feature of the laptop is the simplicity of the overall netbook. One main feature that I love is the two power buttons. Lets say your computer is off, and you really need to check your email in a hurry. You generally tap the power button and let it all load, and depending on how many applications you may have. Well I have tons of programs, anywhere from the long loading virus protection. Well before I get all rambly on that, there is a power button that you can press that avoids opening your OS ( Operating System ). It allows you to access important documents, load Skype or even access the internet. It saves a lot of time! I really enjoy this laptop (Netbook Computer) and I highly reccomend it.

Great computer stinky monitor

I got this Asus Netbook for my everyday emailing and budget and just overall household things that require a computer. I LOVED this computer. It was small enough I could tote it anywhere and it didn't get very hot when I used it. It was overall a great little computer. The wifi worked great on it and connected very easily. I felt like this computer would last a very long time. The only downsides I really encountered were that the mouse was very difficult to use. I felt like I was constantly having to fix what I had accidentley hit. Also the monitor did not have glass across it. So all it took was one little kick from my three year old (by accident of course) and it was broken. The monitor is almost as expensive as the netbook so I just went ahead and tried another brand to see if I would like it more.  Overall though I really enjoyed this little netbook and it did everything I needed it to do overall. And for the price you raelly can't complain too much!

Lightweight but big screen!!!

I've had my computer for a while and I love it!  My reason for only 4 stars is that the touchpad is very "touchy" and it annoys me because it will expand my screen when I didn't want it to!  I fixed this by using an external mouse so it's not a big deal.  Otherwise, I love it and it has a lot of memory and is very fast.  Great lil computer!

Convenient and a good price

I recently got to bring one of these little netbooks home for the summer, and I must say I'm smitten. Our school is currently using these as student laptops with great success. No major problems to report, light weight, durable (so important around tweens and teens!), long battery life, and pretty fast processing time. In fact, I'm typing up this review from my new little friend right now! Now I can do work while watching my favorite tv show without setting up a computer in our living room. I took the notebook to a conference last week, and it traveled well. I can't say the same for my laptop, which is bulky and breaking on one of the hinges. For the price of this notebook, I could replace the screen on the laptop, so I'll probably just get one of these. There are a few little things that bother me about the notebook: The screen is small and I haven't figured out how to shrink my internet browser to fit it well. I'm constantly having to scroll (using the arrow keys, because there is no scrolling tool on the mouse), and sometimes the arrow keys won't work. Then I'm forced to use the scroll bar on the side. This doesn't seem like a big deal, but it takes up more time than you would think. I think I can get used to these little things or find new ways to deal with them. Overall, I like this product!

I recently was in the market for a new computer since my dell was just too heavy to carry around and i really wanted to find something small with a long battery life so i would be able to watch movies on the plane ride back to college. My dad and i went to best buy and he really like the hard drive size and the battery life and thought it would be perfect for me. he really liked the price as well. i wasnt too fond of the color and the color i wanted was unavailable but the color isnt too important. the hard drive is fast and the computer offers me everything i need such as office word, excel and powerpoint. the only thing it does not have is a cd rom but with usb devices who needs a cd rom anymore. the computer n also hook up to the tv so i can watch my movies on the big screen or even do my homework. this asus notebook is only 4 lbs and the batter really does last 11 hrs. it lasted me my whole flight home and it saved my life. im extrememly happy with this purchase and next time i am getting pink!

This little netbook was a great addition to our family of laptops. We orginially purchased it to use when we travel but I started using it for my business and it's quick and reliable. I love the easy access button that takes me directly to the internet without having to access the Window's platform. Well worth the investment.
