aniaml nail clippers.

My dog has always been a hard one to cut his nails. I saw this on tv and I had to try it. My dog didn't fight with me as bad when I started, and it was a lot quicker and I didn't have to worry about cutting too much. plus it rounded out the nail so it wasn't too sharp.

Dangerous and doesn't work as promised

I bought one of these on sale and thought it would be a great product to use on my two dogs. They're both okay about having their nails clipped, but this seemed like it would be an easier and safer way (according to the product information) to handle their nail trims. Ideally, this would mimic the dremmel drill that the professional groomers use, while being safe enough for a home pet care item (it's supposed to auto stop before it quicks the dogs). Unfortunately, the Peticure sander is pretty darn wimpy. I have a Jack Russell terrier and a small Chihuahua, not exactly dogs with massively thick toenails. The Peticure couldn't grind through either of my dog's toenails. Instead it would grab ahold of them and yank them forward in to the safety plastic area. After a few attempts I gave up. There's no way I'm putting either of my dogs through that - they were both clearly uncomfortable with it. I talked to the groomer about the Peticure the next time we were in and she swore that she'd never heard a good experience with them - just horror stories.

Great for my dogs.

I bought this peticure poet nail trimming system as I was in desperate need to find a way to safely trim my dogs nails so they would not mare the floors in my new home, a home that is currently hardwood and ceramic tiles throughout. I bought the tool and though it looked like a dremel for dogs, the unit was lighter and easier to use. I found that the tool was easy to use, though it did make a noise that several of my animals did not care for, so a lot of chasing the puppy was in order. The drill did not get hot at first, but after a few minutes, say ten minutes or so, the trimmer did get slightly warm. I liked the drill and found it works very well, but on my shih tzu's nails I had to trim for several swipes before I was happy with the length of her nails. I love the ease of being able to use my trimmer when I need to, and short of having to take my girls in to the groomer, this tool works very well for my needs!

One major problem

I loved my Peticure until the other night. That is when I learned a terrible lesson. I had my Peticure charging on the floor behind my chair. This is somewhere the dogs never go. I was out of the room when I heard my Maltese yip several times really loud. I ran back to the living room to find my dog laying limply behind my chair. When I picked him up, he was laying on the Peticure and the charging cord was unplugged from the Peticure and he was on the cord as well. I ran him to the Emergency Vet where he died from electrocution. The lesson... NEVER leave your Peticure or other devices with charging cords on the floor. Put them up where your pets cannot come in contact with them. I had no idea that a charging cord I cantouch when it is plugged in would kill my dog.

Waste of money!

The Peticure nail trimmer is a waste of time and money. I tried to use it in my hospital on a dog and I ended up throwing it to the side and asking for the nail trimmers that actually work. This thing took FOREVER to file down the nail. The dog absolutely detested it! It was easier to use the regular trimmers. It also got hot very fast and we had to keep changing to little filer that was in it. I would never recommend this product to anyone because it just takes too long and the animals don't like to noise or the feeling.

Only purchase if you want your dog to hate you

I was always afraid of hurting my little Westie by trimming his nails the "old fashioned way" by using the pet clippers, so I purchased the Peticure Elite thinking that I was doing him and myself a great favor. Unfortunately, I was wrong. This product caused my dog great discomfort in several ways. First of all, the noise scared him, making it so several of us had to hold him down which was rediculous. Then the filing pad grabbed his nail wrong, causing my dog to scream. We gave up right then, and my dog hid under the table for an hour. None of us blamed him for being mad at us. This product may work for some people, but it didn't work for us at all. I'll take a chance with the old fashioned pet clippers when I get brave enough and he trusts me again.

Oh the ads for this make trimming your dogs or even cats toenails look like a breeze.  I got sucked right in and bought one against my husbands better judgement.  He told me over and over that the dogs would never let me use it, to the point where I'd only get it out when he was at work.  I followed their training suggestions and day by day tried getting my three rottweilers used to the noise of the machine.  I spent hours doing this.  After a while, yeah, they would let me run it with their paws in my lap.  After ONE use on each dog, I wasn't able to go near them with the Peticure again.  All three of my dogs were frightened horribly by the vibration.  After that one time, I couldn't even turn it on without them running and hiding in our bedroom. The worst part was that this thing is a cheapy dremel.  I already own a really nice dremel tool and could've saved myself the money by trying to trim their nails with that. Poor dogs.

Pedicure scares my pet!

My pugs don't like their little feet touched, or their nails cut.  We thought this would work great.  But, we were disappointed.  The thing is basically a roto-zip type tool.  It makes a loud whizzz noise that my pugs were scared of.  When we held on to the pup tight, and got him close to it, it was almost impossible to get the nail into the little hole. Once in the hole, you have to sort of grind the nail away. WORKS, but really a whole lot of hassle, easier just to hold the dog and cut the nail. On the tv commercial, it seemed so easy to use, and the pets seemed really happy.  My pups run as soon as we plug the thing in, and we aren't anywhere near them!  This really seemed like the solution for our dog's nails, but it just didn't work.  Now, I have this useless tool on their dog shelf.  I guess I should just throw it out, but it seems such a waste.  I put some good money into that tool!  Maybe I can donate it. So, if your pet doesn't mind the noise, the IDEA of the tool sounds like it'll work great!

If you love your pet, don't use it

The peticure elite must be the worst thing I have ever purchased. My dog Mac is a very good dog so I thought he would do really good with this, but I was wrong. This thing grabs hold of the dogs nail and jerks it and the noise from it is terrible. I was at the pet store one day and they had them on sale, I saw a couple debating on to get one,I told them if you love your dog do not buy that. To this day if I toch or wipe off my dogs paws he gets very upset and trys to bite me. So I take him to get them done by a groomer and I just wish I would of read the reviews on this, before trying it on my dog. He is very skiddish when he gets a bath or his ears cleaned and he was not like that before. I would never hurt my dog on purpose and I think doing this scared him for life. When he comes in from outside and has muddy paws he turns into a different dog when Igo to wipe them off,he trys to bite me like never before. So don't use it if you love your pet.
