Love this stuff

This is the first "natural" deodorant I have tried. It's amazing how well it works. It isn't an anti-perspirant, so sweating does happen and this doesn't always mask the smell, but reapplying this deodorant almost feels good when you're sweating because of the cool stick and lack of extra fragrance/chemicals/etc. None of my clothing have ever been stained or marked by this. I love it and hope to never see it off the shelves!!!

Great Availability!

I use the unscented version. This works well for me due to my highly sensitive skin, and my husband's high sensitivity to smells. It's not as powerful at stopping wetness, or eliminating odor, as tea tree oil, based deodorant, but it works satisfactorily, as long as you aren't going for a run, or working up a large sweat.. What makes this my most common deodorant of choice, is its availability. I can find it almost anywhere. It's also priced very reasonably, which makes it my most common, and attractive choice of deodorants. I have often resorted to talc powder and corn starch in the past, when it was a lot harder to find aluminum free deodorants. Then when I married a man who couldn't tolerate perfumes, my life got even harder, so the Arm and Hammer Essentials Unscented deodorant, has been a very helpful aid in my life, since I have to work around a lot of people, while working hard, and not smelling offensive to anyone. So, if you have a need to stay away from aluminum, or you just prefer to keep it simple, this might be the deodorant for you.

Not that great

I really like that the arm & hammer brand is trying to go all natural. The Arm & Hammer company is well known and that is why I purchased the Essentials Natural Deodorant. I tried it out for a week and have to admit that it does not work that well. Really did a just ok job.

Great product

This is a great deodorant. Definitely a great price for both the amount you're getting and for the work it does. This deodorant goes on smooth and, for those of you who get a little zealous with application, it doesn't cake or clump. It provides smooth, even coverage. The product also has quite a pleasing scent. Very faint and not overpowering. Not that you should be necessarily be putting on enough for others to smell it, but it you do, they compliment the scent. It really makes you feel "fresh". My only complaint is that it can be a tad bit harsh on sensitive skin. If you've accidentally given yourself razor burn, this deodorant will burn quite a bit. Obviously, this is no fault of the product, but if you have a cut from shaving you might want to use something else that day. It also does say on the label to not apply to "broken skin". As previously stated, the price for this product is great. A single stick lasts me around a year. When I use this deodorant, I never have to worry about "smelling ripe". I can run around with confidence, knowing this will cover up any sweat without difficulty.

Aluminum Free !

I bought this for a relative because she was diagnosed with breast cancer . She was told NOT to use aluminum in her doeodorant which apparently may be a contirbuting factor in breast cancer . Prior to this , she had bought a few pricier brands so when I saw this on sale at the sueprmarket for 99 cents, I picked up a few for her . The Essentials line is indeed both aluminum and paraben free -two very questionable substances that we routinely use on our bodies , probably much to our demise . The package said this was the unscented variety but it had a nice fruity scent due to the fruit oils they use in it , such as geranium oil, orange peel oil etc, along with baking soda to ward off odors, She really liked the deodorant and will buy it again - I picked up three for myself too and will wean myself off the powdery brands which are probably doing us a lot of harm .

Suitable for anyone and everyone

SHE SAYS: During my first pregnancy, I searched for a deodorant that was aluminum and paraben free. After a few unsuccessful attempts with products that didn't control the newfound odor that accompanies pregnancy, I stumbled upon the Arm & Hammer Essentials deodorant. The deodorant is offered in unscented and fresh scent. The fresh scent version of this deodorant contains pleasant smelling essential oils and baking soda and is effective at preventing odor. While most of the natural deodorants can be somewhat pricey, the price of this deodorant makes it hard not to love it! PROS: Pleasant smell, effective, works for both him and her, free of aluminum and parabens, price CONS: Not rated by EWG, contains fragrance If you have found this review helpful, let us know with a "thumbs up!"

Arm & Hammer Essentials Deodorant not Quite Good Enough

2

A company with a long and loyal following, Arm & Hammar has been satisfying customers for decades and its products rank among the favorites of consumers everywhere. However, Arm & Hammer has laid the occasional egg and one good example is **Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant.**   **Deodorant Commentary:**   Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant is a stick- style deodorant that is so- named because it is aluminum free and paraben free. It also contains sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), which is an Arm & Hammer mainstay, along with other odor- fighting ingredients. It isn't completely, 100% natural like consumers are led to believe (it contains a few unnatural chemicals), but it is more natural than most.   All- natural products certainly have an appeal, but this label means very little if the product does not work as promised. And from my experience, I have found that Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant is only average at odor protection and slightly below average in wetness protection. I find the scent acceptable, but the product doesn't fight odor and wetness as well as others. In less than 24 hours, I can easily tell that the odor- fighting ingredients have lost the battle.   Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant takes a little longer to dry than other deodorants and since most of us do not have the time or patience to wait, we are likely to put on our shirt and let the wetness transfer to our clothing. The overall package lasts as long as any other stick, but it takes longer to dry than I prefer.   **Botttom Line Viewpoint:**   I generally like Arm & Hammer products but I am disappointed with the performance of Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant. The scent is pleasant enough, but the odor and wetness protections are not up to my expectations and while this product is much less expensive than other natural deodorants, it doesn't quite measure up in overall quality.

Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant - Not ALL natural.

3

***Quick View***: I have been trying to use more natural products if possible and I figured a good way to do that was to replace my usual deodorant with a natural one. I don't perspire too much so I thought a natural deodorant would be perfect. I chose this one because I trusted the name and the price was right.  It's OK but it isn't really all THAT natural and I found, in the summer, I prefer an antiperspirant along with deodorant even though I am not a heavy perspirer. ***My Take on Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant*** I bought the fresh scent. There is also one that is unscented. This 2.5 ounce stick of deodorant is aluminum and paraben free and contains baking soda and natural plant extracts to control odor. I remember my mother actually using Arm & Hammer baling soda as a dusting powder on hot summer days so I expected great things from this product. The deodorant smells good and applies easily with no irritation. I find that it does seem to control odor well. It's hard to know on yourself if a deodorant is working but I don't smell anything bad and my tops smell fresh when I take them off. I did notice that I perspired a bit in the heat which I thought I didn't do. I guess my antiperspirant really WAS working. Again, it wasn't a lot but any wetness under my arms is enough. This product doesn't stop wetness, just odor. The ingredients that stop wetness are not natural ones. I figured that, for a natural product, I could handle a little bit of sticky pit syndrome but when I looked at the ingredients I saw that **Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant **wasn't truly all natural after all. The ingredients are: *Dipropylene Glycol, Water, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Stearate, Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) (Baking Soda), Coriandrum Sativum (Coriander) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Essential Oil, Lavandula Hybrida (Lavender) Oil, Fragrance, Triclosan, Tetrasodium EDTA, Allantoin (Comfrey Root)* There are fillers in there and triclosan in the product which is an antibacterial. That isn't a big deal but studies have shown that people become resistant to triclosan much like they do antibiotics and that could allow very dangerous bacteria to develop without the ability to be able to control it. That is in extreme cases and really doesn't worry me but, if I am going to suffer through damp armpits for a natural deodorant, I want the deodorant to be all natural. There are crystal types and others that are completely natural and I plan to try one or two of those. I really do like my L[ady Speed Stick 24/7 Antiperspirant Deodorant Gel ][1] but, if I can find a good natural alternative for use in all weather but extreme heat, I would switch with no hesitations. Propylene Glycol is also an ingredient which is safe but is a filler and totally unnecessary for the elimination of odors. It contains chloroform and other ingredients and is in many household products and is also in antifreeze. No thanks. ***My Viewpoint*** **Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant** is more natural than most deodorants but does still have some fillers and other ingredients that aren't really needed. It seems to stop odor but can't stop wetness (and isn't supposed to). It is not expensive and smells nice but I prefer a more natural natural deodorant if I am going to go so far as to switch to something without antiperspirant in it*.** I give this product 3 stars***, not because it doesn't eliminate odor, but because it really isn't completely natural as it claims. I do recommend it though if you want a more natural deodorant and don't require a product to stop wetness. It has far less crazy sounding chemicals than most deodorants out there! Not sure what all the fuss is about

2

I thought I would give one of the "natural" deodorants a try because I had been hearing so much about them, on television, newspaper adds and even from people I know. So, I picked out Arm & Hammer since I like their toothpaste. I really liked the scent and was excited about it, but about half way through my day I noticed I was begining to perspire although I was not very active that day. Then by the end of my day I noticed that not only had that nice scent vanished that I was starting to not smell so fresh myself. I usually do not experience this, I am not a heavy perspirer and although I have a need for deodorant like all of us do, I usually don't start to stink by the end of my day either. But I thought I would give it another try and unfortunately I had the same result. I know several people that have tried this and thinks it works fine, maybe it is just me??

Arm and Hammer- the only effective natural deodorant

5

I have tried many natural deodorants with no success until I found Arm and Hammer. Most of them have an unpleasant feel and are totally useless in terms of minimizing odor. While it may not be quite as natural as others, Arm and Hammer natural deodorant actually works well! Remember this is a deodorant not an anti-perspirant so if you sweat a lot it won't stop your sweating but it will prevent odor. I sometimes reapply before my afternoon workout but even if I don't I don't usually smell any body odor on myself. This deodorant goes on nicely and doesn't stay wet or leave marks on my shirts ( I usually wait a minute before putting my shirt on). All of their scents are fine, both my husband and I use them and the scent is hardly noticable. They also have an unscented version which does have a very mild scent which is again unoffensive. This is the best natural deodorant I have tried by far, give it a try!
