Best litter I've ever used.

5

I have had cats all my life, and have used a wide variety of a litters over the decades. Clay, wheat, absorbent beads, corn, pine... This one by far smells the best. Finicky cat began using her box again (!). Doesn't make near the dusty, gritty mess that clay does. Doesn't weigh 30 pounds, either. Clumps way better than gooey wheat litters or fluffy pine pellets. Cats don't reject the hard pine pellets under their feet; I had to pour water on mine to make it fluffy before they'd use it! You can scoop the poop and flush it down the toilet without worrying about a clay buildup which eventually clogs your pipes with mud. This litter may stick to the box some, but not noticeably more than others, and nowhere near as bad as clay litters! Clumps wipe/wash away much easier than clay, too. Sweeps very easy, as others have said. Doesn't leave a fine dust after sweeping which turns to a fine mud when you mop... I've found that this litter masks odor better than others, with the exception of heavily-scented clay litter, where the fragrance itself screams "litter box". This litter has a much more subtle, natural cedar scent. I love it. I see complaints about odor control, but note that one review describes using very little litter in the box, and with multiple cats. I currently have only one cat. Perhaps for multi-cat households, more of this litter is required in more boxes than other formulations, and is therefore not best for those circumstances. I discovered this litter by accident when my husband brought home the wrong brand, heh, heh. I can't say enough good things about it, and have recommended it to my cat-loving Facebook friends!

A more natural cat litter

3

My grocer had a great sale on Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Clumping Litter, so I decided it was worth a try. The claims were surely attractive to me. It claims to absorb twice as much liquid, stop odor, and the best part is that it is made from natural corn fibers with added baking soda. I have no problems with these claims, but unfortunately I didn't experience the product being easy to scoop as claimed, and it didn't bind into "smaller, lighter and easier to remove clumps". The texture of this litter is light and fluffy, and I like its scent. Unfortunately, I had no luck with the clumping part. When I scooped out urine, what looked like clumps fell apart in the scooper. They were then impossible to remove and made the litter box stinky. One more thing would make this a better product, and that would be a bag that can be reclosed if you don't use all of the litter. I have found this litter to work well if I mix it with another clumping litter.

WHAT A SMELLY MESS!

1

I was attracted to this cat litter because it was made from 100% natural corn fibers and lately with so much information on chemicals doing harm to pets, I was very excited to try Arm and Hammer Essentials, hoping to give my cats a healthier option when it came to chemicals and cat litter. I took my litter box and washed and cleaned it from the previous litter and poured in the Arm and Hammer Essentials. I liked the feel of the litter, there was no dust and I thought this is it, the perfect cat litter. Boy was I wrong, this litter does not, and I repeat, does not keep cat urine from smelling up my house. The smell of urine permeated the room that the litter box was in and when cleaning my litter box, the smell was overwhelming. My eyes were burning, my nose was burning and the smell was horrible. I have 2 litter boxes and one I kept with my old litter brand, and then the other with Arm and Hammer Essentials. I clean out my litter boxes every other day and with 3 cats there is not that much in the litter boxes, so that was why I was so surprised that the Arm and Hammer Essentials Litter smelled so bad. I tried to keep using it, but each time I cleaned out the litter box the smell was awful, so I finally just threw it out. I cannot recommend this litter due to the smell, and I was so hoping it would work out, because I really liked the idea of my cats being exposed to something more natural.

Does good job

5

Overall, this is one of my favorite cat litters. It does a good job of absorbing both product and smell, and it is easy to clean the litter box. I would highly recommend it for everyday use with indoor cats. Ease of Cleaning Because the litter clumps up, it is easy to use a scoop to sort out the used litter from the unused litter. This makes it easier to clean out the bad parts of the litter every few days without needing to replace it completely. Odor Control This kitty litter does a great job of holding in the bad smell of both kinds of cat excrement, and it gives off a somewhat pleasant smell as well that gives a bit of a cleaner smell in the room that holds the litter box. Ease of Use The cat's own movement in the litter box helps cover the excrement and it also helps the litter clump up and stick to it the way that it is supposed to. Not only does this make it easier to clean, but it makes it easier to get the odor control to work effectively.

I love that this is clumping and dust free.

I am definitely a fan of this litter. It was a little different at first to get used to because it's not like the normal clay litters I was used to buying but my cats didn't seem to have a single issue with it. I have noticed the smells are significantly less with this. It clumps so I can get rid of the messes quickly, but I've also noticed that if I am unable to scoop for a day or even two that the smell is no where near as odorous as it was with my previous litters. Moisture Absorption This stuff surprisingly did an excellent job of moisture absorption. I was a little bit leery at first because of the texture and composition of the litter but it absorbs quickly and clumps up so I can get rid of the mess. It is easy to deal with and quick-acting. Ease of Cleaning It is very easy to clean this material out of the litter box. It scoops easily because of the clumping factor, and it all comes out without any trouble so I can just dump the entire box once it's time to change the litter. Odor Control This does a good job. I was a little concerned at first because of the material but I've noticed the smell is no where near as strong as it was when I had been using other clumping litters. Ease of Use This is so simple to using, you simply pour it into the litter box and occasionally scoop out the clumps between litter changes.

Arm & Hammer makes fantastic litters

5

On my quest to find a great natural cat litter, I also tried the Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Clumping Litter. Arm & Hammer is a brand I know and trust, so I had no doubts about this being a great cat litter. I've tried other natural cat litters before that were mostly made out of pine or wheat. What was different about this litter was that it is made completely out of natural corn fibers. How unique is that? Anyways, this litter is dust free, has strong clumping power, and has a fantastic two time absorbing power. It also uses mostly baking sofa to get rid of any odors from the litter box. The first thing that I noticed about this litter was it's scent. When I poured the litter into the box, it had a nice sweet corn smell with the added freshness of baking soda. I actually really enjoyed it, and it was like nothing I've ever smelled before. The baking soda in the litter did a wonderful job at keeping the odors away. I couldn't smell any urine whatsoever. I noticed that the scent of the cat litter did fade a bit, but it still did a great job at neutralizing the odors. Now onto the clumping power. I had no idea if corn could clump, or if it would even work well at clumping up. So I was pleasantly surprised when i saw how well he litter clumped up. The corn made very hard clumps, and was better then some of the regular clumping litters I've tried. The clumps were very hard, and not moist at all. They were easy to scoop, and clean my litter box without creating any mess. I scoop my cats litter box everyday, and found that the litter stays fresh for a long time. I kept it for over a week before I completely changed all the litter out. I was overall really impressed with this litter. I have had bad outcomes with most of the natural litters I've tried, so I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. I completely even forgot at a point that this was a natural cat litter, because it works and clumps up just as good as cat litters that have fragrances and chemicals in them. If you like Arm & Hammer, this is a great cat litter to try out, especially if you are looking to switch to more natural products. Moisture Absorption None of the litter got moist when my cat used her litter box. It clumped up quickly, and took all the urine along with it. With other litters I've had the problem of urine collecting on the bottom, not with this litter. The box never got wet, or mushy. It stayed dry and clean without much effort at all. Ease of Cleaning The corn was just as easy to clean as other clumping litters. The corn makes hard clumps, and were easy to scoop out of the box. This litter was also dust free so none of the litter flew into my face or tracked out of the box. The litter didn't stick to the cat box. All I had to do was scoop the used clumps out and then it was completely clean. Odor Control The litter has a fresh, light, sweet, corn and baking soda like scent. It kept my cats litter box smelling fresh, and I couldn't smell any of the urine odors at all. The baking soda neutralized and got rid of any odors in the box. The litter stays fresh and odor free for a little over a week before I had to completely swap out the litter. Ease of Use The corn fiber was easy to pour into the box, and it didn't have any dust in it either. I filled the box up halfway, scooped it everyday, and would change it completely every week or so. It was always easy to scoop, and the baking soda kept all the odors away.

best cat litter!

5

This is easily the best cat liter you can buy! I bought this for the first time about 1 year ago and with my one cat I've only had to buy about 5 bags of it. It really doesn't smell at all unlesd he just used it, but theres nothing that can be done about that. He will use it for a really long time before it has to be changed because instead of clumping it just absorbs the pee so that's not all in there. You also need very very little of it since it absorbs everything. This would be good for finicky and declawed cats as well because it is not sharp like clay or pine litters. Same goes for cats with respiratory infections and people with allergies because the bag is telling the truth, there is no dust. None. We switched to this because of that very reason since the old clay litter we had made our cat sick from the dust. This would be excellent for multi cat homes as well since it really doesn't smell at all and needs less frequent changes. Moisture Absorption It doesn't clump, just absorbs it, it's fantastic

Nice and easy to Use.

Arm and Hammer Cat litter was easy to use and did it's job well. The product did as it said and was easy to dispose of. There was virtually no smell in the house and even where the cat box was located, upstairs in one of the smaller bedrooms where the cat slept, you couldn't smell it. Moisture Absorption The Arm & Hammer worked well with absorbing wetness and it also killed the odor along with it. The clumps didn't break up as easy as it did with other litters and held the waste together as you scooped. Ease of Cleaning The solid waste and urine clumps didn't stick to the litter pan and left not a whole lot of small bits to try and catch in the scooper. the litter box was kept cleaner longer and the smell was kept down quite a bit even between cleanings. Odor Control Odor control was 10 out of 10 and this product did it's job well. Even a few minutes after the cat used the box there was no smell. Only time it might of smelled if the cat hadn't covered his waste all over. Ease of Use The bag was easy to open but the zipper lock could be a bit more easier to seal, as some times it would pop open after you thought it had sealed. Other than that the bag was easy to store and use.

Long Lasting Fresh Scent!

5

I have a big cat who makes big messes. He refuses to use clumping litter and clay just doesn't cut it! I discovered the Arm & Hammer Essential while in my grocery store with a great coupon attached for incentive, but it has now become our family's go-to litter. It is very lightweight so I don't have to carry a 40 pound bag of litter through the store with children in two anymore, a huge plus. Also, it lasts twice as long as other litters we have tried, so is really not a bad value for the price. The scent is nice and clean and lasts for a long time. My picky cat doesn't seem to mind it and doesn't make puddles anymore, a bonus in a cat litter! The only minor complaint would be that my cat gets the litter stuck in between his paws and will shake it off outside the litter box. Even this isn't that big a deal as the litter sweeps up easily. Highly recommend this one! Ease of Cleaning It can get a little "saw-dusty" to clean up, but not bad.

Not Natural.

2

I have used a number of Arm & Hammer cat litters and this has got to be the worst they make. I thought because it said it was natural that it would be a good litter and since it was Arm & Hammer it would control odors. I was wrong. It does control odors, but this cat litter has the heaviest odor of any cat litter I have used. It's not natural, just because they say so on the box doesn't make it so. With this much perfume added to the litter it can't be natural. I will definitely not buy it again. When the odor mixes with cat urine it leaves a nasty scent. Moisture Absorption This doesn't absorb moisture as well as other brands we've used. It does an okay job at it, but it's mediocre at best where urine absorption is concerned. Ease of Cleaning It's not as easy to clean as the clumping kind of cat litter. Our cat also left it all around the box, so it's definitely one of the worst cat litters at sticking to a cat's paws. Odor Control It controls odor only with a very heavy perfume smell. It's not natural like it states, as that odor cannot be good for a cat's health. Also, after about a day, the odor would be worse when mixes with cat urine. It's not a good cat litter for multiple cat household, or for a cat's health.
