Not for Sensitive Skin.

3

I used this before I found this on sale and had heard a lot of good things about alpha-hydrox and glycolic, so I decided to try this brand. It didn't turn out quite like I expected. First, this really irritated my skin and left red rashes on my face. I followed the directions exactly, and actually used it less than what was recommended. I found that some people are sensitive to some of these ingredients. I'm not sensitive to anything else that I know of, so I don't understand why I had such a bad reaction to this. I started using it less and that didn't help so I had to discontinue using it and use Silvadene for the reaction, luckily I still had an unused bottle of it I never used. Effectiveness This may work for some people, but not for everyone. I would caution anyone when using these types of products. I don't have sensitive skin and it irritated and caused my skin to redden and burn. I wouldn't recommend it for those with sensitive skin, or anyone that has excessively dry skin.

Good not Great Gentle Exfoliator

5

At the age of 30, I have not used an AHA product before so I wanted to get something mild with a low percent of glycolic acid to start. I also wanted something inexpensive just in case it didn't work for me or I had a bad allergic reaction to GA. This product fit the bill. I immediately started second guessing myself and wished I had purchased a more expensive product with more bells and whistles - cell repair, antioxidants, etc. But using this product made me a believer. It immediately exfoliated my skin and within 6 weeks lightened some hyperpigmentation I have on my face. My skin is glowing. I did not have any major irritation with this product but I only used it 2-3 times per week at night not morning and day like it says on the box. Even if you don't have sensitive skin, I can imagine that using this product that much would be very drying. For anyone using this product, you also should really use a sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 15. I personally use an SPF 30 during the day. When this box is done, I would be interested in trying Alpha Hydrox's Soufle product that contain 12% glycolic acid and antioxidants.

It really evens out your skin complexion.

I have been using Alpha Hydrox Enhanced 10% Glycolic AHA Anti-Wrinkle for about 3 months now and I notice an above average improvement in my skin. It was recommended to me to use this product in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide to aid in evening my complexion. I have tried many products in the past to even out my skin tone, but none of them seemed to work. I had come to just accept I would have acne discolorations for the rest of my life on my back. I started using this product and after a couple of weeks I started to notice results. I use this product once a day at night now, but I started once every other day for the first week.. My skin became softer and my acne stayed under control. I also had dark marks on my upper back from squatting start to fade away and I still squat twice a week. I have seen improvement with this product every month I've used it. I'm not sure how fast progress will be if you use this product without benzoyl peroxide, but results will come if you stay consistent. I would definitely recommend Alpha Hydrox Enhanced 10% Glycolic AHA Anti-Wrinkle lotion.

Great body lotion!

I use this as a body lotion in the winter to exfoliate skin (it's hard to find it in stores, so I get it online). It leaves my skin feeling extremely moisturized (after using for a few days) and very soft. AHA draw moisture to your skin, and exfoliate the dead skin layer that sometimes block absorption of lotion or other things you put on your skin. I have also tried to use this lotion on my face, and it did a great job. Unfortunately, since my skin is very acne-prone, it did give me some break-outs so I just focus on using this on my body after showering (but NOT after shaving, other wise it stings!). I love it and will continue to use it.

Alpha Hydrox products are effective & affordable!!!

Anyone who wants to prevent aging, and even look younger, should be using Alpha Hydrox products. I can't believe how incredibly affordable they are. Why aren't they more famous? Why is everyone talking about anti-aging creams that cost ten times as much? I use this Alpha Hydrox 10% Glycolic Anti-Wrinkle Cream at night. After the first week or so, I noticed my skin was smoother. Then I noticed that my complexion was more "dewy" for lack of a better word. Finally, after a month or so, maybe two (?), I noticed that my crows feet are shallower. People started to tell me I look great. I can see it, too. I look younger! I don't use this during the day, because it's not moisturizing, and because it makes you more sun-sensitive. I use a non-acidic moisturizer with SPF during the day. But at night, I break out the Alpha Hydrox. It doesn't make my skin dry, it just makes it sort of tight. I wouldn't want to feel that way all day, but while I'm sleeping it's fine. Oh, and the first several times you use it, expect to feel some tingling. Maybe even do a test patch first. But seriously, this stuff rocks. Like I said, I can't believe that it's not a household word.

Alpha Hydrox delivers!

Alpha Hydrox is a company that goes way back and one of the original companies that made anti-aging/anti-wrinkle products.  It can be difficult to find in the stores today, but available on line.   Chemical peels were popular when I worked for a dermatologist, so I asked if there was a product that would produce over-the-counter results for much less money.  She recommended Alpha Hydrox wash and creme that contained Alpha hydrox acids at that time.  I loved the results of clearer, brighter skin.  As I aged and developed Rosacea, I moved on to other things when it became more difficult to find.  Imagine my delight to find a newer (to me) lotion for DRYskin and fragrance-free by the same company.  It contains 10% AHA and may sting with beginning use (patch test recommended).  Sunscreen is always important, particularly after a peel of this type.  It is in lotion form that is left on under your regular moisturizer.  I often get compliments as to my skin texture and clarity, however since it is a peel type product expect dryness because it is removing the surface layer.  I do not use it daily.  A good moisturizer is necessary.

Sometimes More Isn't Really Better

I used Alpha Hydrox Enhanced 10% Glycolic AHA Anti-Wrinkle in an effort to stave-off future wrinkles. I figured that with a 10% solution, I was getting more than my money's worth. I applied this all over my face before going to bed, and waited for the fresh, dewy, skin to emerge. I woke up with bumps all over my face. Not pimples. Bumps. Turns out, there's a reason why the directions advise testing on a small patch of skin first. If only I'd paid more attention. I could've spared myself the embarassment of going out in public with a rash for a week and a half. I guess I need a weaker concentration of this, but after what happened, I'm not that brave.
