The base of the activon plus menthol is the same as head-on. This works for my migraine headaches just like head-on did. No flaking off at all. No thick residue. It is just eventually absorbed by the skin.

It relieves migraine headaches like head-on did. It works best on the cheeks. Avoid using near eyes. Use on cheeks next to nasal opening. Use a little on the forehead. It does also work for arthritis pain. It reduces joint pain probably 25-50% which is significant relief. It is portable and easy to use. If it has been exposed to heat. Do not open. Place closed container in the refrigerator and let it reset to solid before removing it. It stays solid at room temperature even during hot summer. I like that I don't have to take a narcotic analgesic.

I have tried a number of topical analgesic to reduce pain that I deal with on a daily basis. ActivOn was one of many over the counter analgesics that I have tried and it does help reduce pain. I have used this product for my wrists, I suffer with carpel tunnel, and lower back and it even works for tension headaches! I rubbed this on my neck and shoulders and I felt some relief with the level of intensity with headache pain. Now my lower back didn't experience much relief, I have herniated disks, but this product didn't aid in pain relief. Now I have pulled a muscle and used ActivOn on my back and this is when this product really helped. A huge plus with ActivOn is it doesn't leave you smelling like menthol and it's not a greasy, oily product because it absorbs completely into the skin. I think this product is a quality made product but it's not a breakthrough with topical analgesics, but it's worth trying out for minor muscle aches and great for my tension headaches.

I have osteoporosis, and arthritis in my bottom. My left cheek gives me so much pain. I took an Rx for the osteoporosis for 10 years, and have had to come off of it for 2 more. My cheek hurts most of the time, and is worse when the weather is cold. That cheek is always cold, even with the Florida summers. I have tried pills, and I am sure that they don't know what part of my body needs help. I have use gels/creams before, and they either smell really bad, or just don't work. I bought ActivOn Ultra Strength Topical Analgesic a few months ago, and forgot all about it. So as we have had a cold week, in Florida, and I have had so much pain, I decided to use it. It is similar to a lipstick, or deodorant, as it is in a tube, that you turn the bottom, and it comes up. It is hard, clear, but looks like tiny bubbles in it. It does have a minor menthol smell to it, but not like Vick's. I rub it over the painful area, and it doesn't get hot, just warm. It has a comforting feel to it. That is what I feel, and no pain, for a couple of hours. It states on the box to apply not more than 3 to 4 times daily. I do it after my shower. When I get home from either work, shopping, eating, etc., and then early evening, and bedtime. It isn't a perfect solution, but better than many I have tried. It is not sticky at all, so I can use it, pull up my underwear, and jeans, and be comfortable.

Three years ago I started to have pain in my legs, and I am still dealing with this same pain today. I've had three MRI's, nerve tests (EMG), valve and blood flow tests, and numerous blood tests ... all come back normal. I am now in physical therapy, but the one over the counter product that has helped my pain relief more than any other is ActivOn. This has been a life saver for me! It comes in a 2 ounce tube that measures five inches in height and one and a half inches wide. It is not a messy product like gels and creams, it rolls up much like a solid deodorant would. I take this with me when I am going to be flying as I can't sit for long periods of time, and it really helps with the pain. I keep it on my night stand so I can rub it on in the middle of the night - and it's so easy to appy even in the dark! I love it. This was one of the more expensive types of topical pain relievers I found, but it has lasted almost a year now and I still have quite a bit of product left - well worth the cost. The active ingredients are histamine dihydrochloride (0.025%) and menthol (4.127%), (topical analgesics). The directions say this can be used 3 or 4 times a day, but I generally only use it at night when pain keeps me awake. When applied I get that icy cool sensation, which then turns into a comforting feeling of heat. The warmth lasts for a good hour or more, and it really helps relieve my pain. Be very careful not to get this on your sheets or in your eyes because it really burns! If you suffer from muscle or joint pain like I do, you may find the relief I have found by using ActivOn. Effectiveness The only over the counter pain reliever that actually brings me relief, and it lasts for an hour or more. Ease of Use SO easy to use, no gels or creams, just a harder based roll on product. Immediacy Starts to work immediately, it really helps when the pain is bad.

My husband recommended trying this product after seeing commericals for it.  Our pediatrician was leary for it's use but we tried it on ourselves first.  My husband uses it for tension in his neck and I use it for tennis elbow.  My daughter used it for joint pains.  It works wonderfully!

I used to see the commercials for ActivOn and since I am hit my mute button when they come on, and since I rarely believe what I see on TV . I doubted the add, besides they were dumb and I almost didn't purchase this product, but finally I gave it a try and we are sure glad we did. I have tried about all topical on the market and this is a good one. I am always looking for one that will work for my mom. Some work some don't, some have terrible odors and some are messy to apply. My Mom has Rheumatoid Arthritis and she can not take internal products so we have to try and control her pain with topical this is one that does a pretty good job. Nothing gives her complete pain but this one comes as close as we havd found so far. It even worked better than the more expensive medicated bandages her doctor gave her. Activon is a topical analgesic that has no odor when applied, and best of all it's rolled on. So many of the topical medicines have an odor and makes her nauseated when I apply them, she doesn't mind this at all. Her back is terribly painful and I am able to put it over her entire back and hips and she says after a few minutes it relieves some of the pain, Nothing ever removes it all so we are just glad she gets some relief. I love the roll on because I don't get my hands covered in the ointment, no mess no smell and no greasy feel.

There are a number of reasons that I like this activ-on pain product.  First of all, it works.  I have been dealing with fairly significant psoaz pain in my hip area and have had trouble sleeping because of it.  Oral pain relievers have been of minimal help so I decided to try the activ on.  It is different than other topical analgesics in several ways.  It says it is deep penetrating and I found this to be true because my pain is deep in my muscle and it alleviated it.  It also doesn't get that "hot" feeling quite in the same way that other products do.  It sounds weird, but it's more of a cool heat.  In fact, one night I woke up feeling chilled from it - something that might be a negative but didn't cause me too much trouble.  Another thing I like is the packaging it has - it's like a giant tube of chapstick.  You just roll it on - no mess - you don't have to get it on your hands or anywhere except where you want it.  It is a nice light product - not thick or goopy.  I definately recommend activ on.

ActivOn is a topical analgesic described as ultra strength for arthritis. I have  severe knee pain and I bought this to help me. This is convenient because you can rub it on since it comes in a tube. During the summer, this was convenient and I left it in my car. My pain is greatest after I have to walk any length. It relieved my pain enough where I was comfortable in driving. This was not the case after the weather turned cool and I began wearing long pants. I then brought the tube inside and began using this before I go to bed. I have not noticed any difference in my sleep. I feel this is a pain reliever but only mildly when you first use it. I did not feel that this had a long-term effect and I would need to use it often. It did not irritate my skin and it was really nice to know that a topical pain reliever did not smell. For the price I paid, this would be an item to try out for your arthritis. It might relieve minor arthritis better.

Ilove that I do not have to take a pill and risk liver issues to relieve pain!  This stuff really works.  I hate their annoying commercials, but love the product.  It really relieves tired muscles and helps them relax.  The smell clears my sinuses which is a plus!
