My hair tends to be flat on top and I like a bit of lift. For that, I use Aveda's Flax Seed Aloe Gel. Although it comes out of the bottle like sort of thick water, this is a very strong hold product. Be sure to use less than you think you will need or it will make your hair too stiff once the hair dries. Start with about a teaspoon for a decent sized hank of hair and run it through with your fingers. Then you can shape your hair however you would like and it will stay that way after you blow it dry. Want spikes? No problem with Aveda's Flax Seed Aloe Gel. Want a Veronica Lake style curl over your forehead (my favorite)? Put in Aveda's Flax Seed Aloe Gel, comb or push the hair into position, and blow dry. It will stay that way until you comb it out or wash the hair again. The product has a neutral odor, which is what I prefer. It is somewhat expensive, but a bottle lasts me a long time.

I am not patient enough to formally style my hair and I have a combination slightly wavy and more straight hair.  Without product, my hair gets weighed down and falls flat.  In the humidity, it frizzes out.  I really like the Aveda Flax Seed Alo Strong Hold Sculpturing Gel because it keeps my hair in an easy style without falling flat or looking greasy.  Since it is water based, the price is right because the product spreads further and you do not have to use as much gel as you would another store brand or petroleumn based product.  Finally, it keeps the frizz away for me.... please note that I do not have incredibly curly hair.  I have no idea how it would work if you have curly hair.  For my straight to wavy hair, it is a great product that I will continue buying without hesitation.

Aveda Flax Seed Aloe Sculpting Gel is amazing for my hair. I have a hard time controlling frizz, even when it is not humid, but this product along with the Be Curly line of hair care makes my hair manageable and presentable. I love this product because I don't have to use a handful of it to style my hair. I also like to have the strong hold look, but not the wet, crunchy look and this product does not cause that to happen. I have been using this product for several years and always go back to it. It is no longer worth it to try new products. I just stick with what works! It is reasonably priced, but is a little more than store brands. You get what you pay for in this case!
