I was very excited to try weight watchers. I had heard ONLY good things about them and heard that they had a free trial. It seemed like a win win.

Well when I got to the weight watchers place, I found out that the "free trial" was almost 50 bucks and another 13 per week! And that I had to go EVERY week or I would have to start all over again and pay the almost 50 bucks all over again. I paid and I went to the meetings. All the meeting times were terrible. They had maybe 3 a day and they were either at 9 am or 12 or 6pm. How was someone that works going to make these meeting times? But I did go. I would mess up our families dinner hour or  my lunch hour to go. The meetings were full of people that wanted to hear themselves talk!

It was frustrating and I felt I wasnt getting anything out of it. I really wanted the meetings to be a place that I would come away from feeling like this was a great thing. It wasnt. I also was feeling frustrated at the lack of weight that I was losing. I was doing everything and it was such slow results that it was discouraging.

The food was hard to find and then when I did find it I realized the food that you buy from wieght watchers was kind of holding me back in losing weight! I think the whole program is just a cycle to keep people in the program to keep getting their 13 plus dollars per week. The program was not for me.

I have since looked into other programs and wondered if makybe the weight watchers location was to blame for me not feeling successful at losing weight. I did enjoy many of the meals that they had and now I see that they have a cook book too.

I have not lost the weight and I still really want to lose the weight. I just can't afford the time of the meeting and the 13 dollars per meeting. I want to join a weight loss program that offers support like weight watchers does but I want one that REALLY supports. I want one that is simple to use simple to succeed and simple to live with. The other issue I had with weight watchers was I felt deprived all the time. I want really straving but by having to document every morsel that went into my mouth it was just a constant reminder that I was not being allowed this or that all the time.

In addition I really felt like the online portion should have come with the weekly program that I paid for. That was an additional charge. I didnt like that. It seemed like I was losing money not weight. If it were a money loss program it really works and works quickly. I think the concpet of losing weight and the weight watchers name are huge and have a tremendously appeal. But once in the program it felt less supportive and more just a profit generated concept. I would like to be a part of weight watchers. I really am sad that weight loss has become such an issue and problem for me. It is causing some harship in my personal life. I am 30 pounds over weight and wish I could find some inexpensive way to join a program that is success driven and not profit driven.

The co-branding that they do with products and restaurants and magazines is brilliant. I wonder why that isnt enough for the weight watchers folks profit machine? Clearly in this economy running some promotions not just coupons for the food but actually waiving the dang weekly membership or something would be nice! I kind of got the feeling from my local weight watchers that they have nothing to do with the food. They had no opinons or answers for me when it came to that part.

Nutrisystem seems to focus a great deal on their foods and kind of puts the two hand in hand to the answer to a persons success is in the food, but when I would go to my local meeting place they did not sell the food and had other odd items.

As I am writing this I am strongly considering looking into perhaps finding a program that is like weight watchers but not all about the local meetings. Maybe going back and doing an online approach might be a more successful way to go.

The other thing is after only 2 months I flet like I had invested far too much to just walk away but they dont really care whether you walk away from the program or not,in fact they make more money if you leave the program. Because you have to start all over again.

I also made a few of the recipes and I guess I picked the wrong ones. They were not so tasty. Its got to be more family focused. I had trouble feeding my family while still maintaining a life with them. I would eat my little meal and then would have to make them something. It became such a hassle so I went off the program and actually gained a little MORE weight and now I think I am going back down to where I was when I left the program.

hi tammy, I want to try the weight watchers on-line, simply because the price is cheaper, and I won't have to waste time and fuel. I need to lose about 50 lbs, and I am really mad a ME for letting my weight get out-of-hand. I am 51, and in 1984 I joined WW and lost my (then) 29 lbs. and became a life-time member. I really do understand what you mean about WW being a money-maker, I also think they are too expensive and geared more toward stay-at-home moms that don't "have" to work. Me, I have to work, and I have a 12 yr old, an 14 yr old at home. The original founder of Weight Watchers was Jean Nietch or something like that. Well, she wrote a little paper-back book, (probably in the early '70's) Anyway, I read that book in the summer of 1974, and I used the diet plan in that book, and that summer (I was a teenager) I lost about 30 lbs........so spending alot of money on a lifelong battle with being overweight is really not necessary......I need to adapt to a life-long commitment to eating healthy......So I am going to try it AGAIN, this time on-line....and start walking after we have our evening meal....Good luck with your weight issues...April C.

Maybe you should try something like SparkPeople.com. It's free and there is a lot of support groups you can join! They may not provide actual food, but they have tons of info about food, exercise, and motivation. Check it out before you invest money in another program - it's worth a try :)
