I've been on Weight Watchers (flex plan) since 2003 & I've lost over 80 pounds.  I tried a lot of diets before WW, but I find this to be the most realistic.  Sure, it can be a pain to measure things and count points all the time, but you really get used to it & it just becomes part of your daily routine.  What I like most about WW is that there are no forbidden foods -- if you want something, you can eat it, as long as you stay within your points for the day.  Yet because everything is based on points, that provides the encouragement you need to make healthier choices -- ie, you could have a chocolate bar for 6 points, or you could have an apple with a tablespoon of peanut butter, a bag of low-cal microwave popcorn, a small square of dark chocolate, and 1 cup of veggie soup for the same amount.  Most of the time, I find myself making the healthier choices so I'm able to eat more.

I think when people talk about diets not working for them, it basically means they tried it for a week & then gave up.  If you follow the plan, it will work.
