Webkinz.com Review

I love everything about this Webkinz.  How it works is, you purchase an stuffed animal (we got our from Hallmark),on your pet is a code that you enter into the computer when you register the animal.  Then you're given a room for it to "live".  You earn money to buy things furniture, toys, clothes, and even food for your pet.

 And it is totally safe!  Kids can talk to each other, but there is a preset communication format that is used, so there is no worry about anything inappropriate being said.  It's just good, wholesome fun.

Going and checking on your Webkin everyday can be a little addictive.  We like to plant gardens for my son's bunny, so you have to be sure to go everyday and water the plants.  Also, my son gets a little obsessed with earning money so "Hops", his bunny, will have all the newest clothes and toys.  Different ways you can earn money for your Webkinz are:

- Taking trivia quizzes on different subjects (all age appropriate)

- Playing games in the arcade (they have lots of different games for different ages and skill levels)

- Getting a job at the Employment Office (again, based on your skill level)

- Winning games at the Tournament area (where you complete against other children online)

- Selling some of your merchandise you no longer use

During different holidays they offer different themed items.  For instance at Halloween, you can buy cobweb mirrors, and dungeon looking furniture.  Maybe even decorate with a few pumpkins and scarecrows.  Every holiday offers something a little different.  It even snowed in Webkinz last winter.  That was really exciting for my son.

There aren't many things online that are safe for kids.  But this is one place that your kids can go online, and you know they'll have fun, learn a few things, and they'll be safe while they do it.
