Most HelpfulThe Verdict: Virgin Mobile is a good option for those who don't use cell phones frequently. I've got nearly my whole family on Virgin Mobile and it's working quite well for all of us.
Just the Facts: I was an early adopter of Virgin Mobile's new pre-paid cell phone service way back in 2001. It...

Most HelpfulMy cell phone was stolen. I contacted Virgin Mobile by phone, suspended service and bought a new phone. The new phone was a Kyocera Slider. It cost $79.99 + tax (total $86) My son has one. It has a camera, MP3 player, and will record short videos.
My phone arrived a few days later. BUT IT DID NOT HAVE...
review »If you don't want to sign long term contracts and want great phone service for low cost this is the cellular phone company for you. You get your own phone number and 24 hour access to their excellent customer service phone number.
Their customer service number is toll free 1-888-322-1122 and costs you nothing to call IF YOU CALL FROM OTHER THAN YOUR CELL PHONE. Calling toll free numbers from your cell phone costs you a per minute charge so I call from my home land line or a phone booth.
They offer several plans including a few different pay per call plans. I chose the 18 cents per minute...

I signed up for a 1,300 minute/$34.99 monthly plan with Virgin Mobile about 4 or 5 months ago. Every month I pay my bill on the same day, the 7th. This month was no exception. I called their customer service number and was told no live representatives were available, but I could pay using the automated line.
I authorized a payment for $35.00 to cover my monthly bill, but instead of crediting the money to my monthly plan, they did something called top-up and applied my payment to the standard service that charges $.20/minute for calls.
As of 4-14-09, my cell phone was cut off. I called...
review »We bought the Kyocera phone from Virgin Mobile as a pay as you go phone for emergencies at first. We spent $19.99 to buy it and $20 to have on it for calls and we were obligated to 'top up' every three months. So we spent around $20 every three months for this cell phone. Calls cost 10 cents each minute and we were just real frugal about them. When we had more money, we spent more when we wanted. Today we top up each month for $20 and we have had this phone for 3 years. It has worked great the whole time and we love how inexpensive it has been compared to anyone else's phone plans. ...
review »This compnay has the worst customer sevice I have ever seen!!!!
The only way to get live CS with these people without playing an hour of word games witht the the Automated CS is to threaten the Automated CS is by stating you want to concel the account...
Their buushit automated CS plays headgames with you even after asking for a live customer person...it does this by asking what you want to speak to a live person for and then goes about trying to decive you into believe that you are getting a live person but in fact the automated service is tryig to handle whatever problmes you have itself.
I have been a Virgin Mobile customer for about 4 years now and I will never sign another cell phone contract as long as I live. I like the flexibility that it gives me by allowing me to choose the amount of $ I want to add. If I my budget for the month is a little tight I have the option of just putting enough $ to get me through till payday. The fact that there are no weird, hidden fees or taxes is a super plus for me. No start-up fees, no early termination fees, nothing, I just add money to my account and they charge me a flat per minute rate. I have converted my husband, my mother-in-law,...
