It sounds like you may be experiencing a bug.  I posted one just now and did notice my points changed.  I don't remember exactly what points I started with, but I have seen it fluctuate.  So here's a test.  I have 146,595 right now as I type this.  Now I'm going to submit and refresh and see if it changes!

Edit: Yes it did change and went up 10 points as expected.  I'm sure the team will look into this for you.

I am testing as well. I didn't notice my points doing anything since this program started but that doesn't mean they didn't. I never really looked so I will now.

Edit: Yes, the points went up by 10. HOW NEAT.

I will watch them when I write my next review too. I thought they were updated every night. I guess they meant the leader board was updated nightly.

I thought the points were updated nightly as well. I never noticed the numbers changing. I noticed that I had a few people add me as friends and I didn't see my friend number count go up correctly either.  

**Edit: Someone just added me as a trusted reviewer and the number of friends count did go up. Not sure about the total points though. I'm driving myself crazy trying to track this stuff so I'm going to stop obsessing! lol

I just wrote a review and my points went up.  I wonder if some of you are bugged.

Just look at your TOTAL points on your home page then make a post. If it goes up by 10, the thing is working. I saw my points go up when I just wrote a review. Very cool to see them instantly go up!

I'm not watching them... just going about things as though they aren't there...

I just looked at the leaderboards and I don't see that those numbers have changed at all.

The leaderboard is definitely updated nightly, not instantly.  But the points on your page *should* update instantly.  I'm sure if it's a bug, VP will look into it.  Maybe they are taking it slow this weekend after all the releases this week kept them busy :)

My points on the leader board have not changed since the day after this program launched as far as I can see. I did see a change the first night and now, have not seen any change at all since in the total number of points over a 30 day period of for the year. I don't know if that is just me or everyone. I just assume it is all being taken care of.

Seems to me it may take some time to iron out the wrinkles.  I could have sworn I was a "Featured Reviewer" earlier this year, but (boo hoo) I don't see a badge for me.  Americans are notorious for being impatient.  I wouldn't like to be the person(s) trying to get this thing together right now!

Tuneful, Meredith has to manually assign the featured reviewers badges one by one.  On friday she said she was working on it, so assuming she took the weekend off, I bet you'll get yours in a few days :)

I just wrote a review and my points didn't budge. That's the first time I noticed that nothing happened when I posted a review. I only checked a few times and it seemed as if the points were going up when I posted a review but definitely not this time. I'm sure it will all be straightened out though. I'm no longer going to look at points. It makes me nuts. More nuts.

I've been looking at the points for 2009... I've been stuck at 39,090 since the leader boards were launched.  I've posted several reviews and message board posts since then and nothing has changed that number. 

As an aside, Bryan Carey has something like 40,295 and that number hasn't changed for him despite the fact that he's written at least 1 review since the boards became visible.  I only know that because he is ranked directly above me and I keep trying to see if I'm closing the gap.  =)

• Your lifetime points total on your profile page should be updating immediately upon earning points.
• Any and all point totals in the leaderboard section get calculated just after midnight and everyone gets re-ranked according to those totals.  This is for all sections and time period.  These numbers will not change until the next nightly recalculation

As stated above it does appear that the leaderboards are not updating since launch.  We will investigate and I'll post an update once we understand what's going on.

Yes, I remember that -- you were one of the Featured Reviewers or we were both hallucinating!  But I do recall now that Meredith has to update the Featured Reviewer things manually.  Thanks, Viva, for reassuring us about that and of course ... thanks, Meredith! 

At first my points were going up right away on my profile page, but now I haven't seen them change today as I work through stuff on the site.  Maybe it just got stuck.  :)

You broke it!  haha just kidding.

Well I'm finishing up a review now, we'll see if the points change!

My 2009 points haven't changed in days (at least 5) in spite of the fact that I've published double bonus reviews and a number of bulletin board posts.

what do you do with your accumulated points anyway????  where do you use it for?

What do I get for earning points?

You get status and get to build your reputation in the community as you earn more and more points! Points do not translate into monetary value under the Viewpoints V.I.P. Program.

With that said, I see you registered with Viewpoints as an affiliate of the Inbox dollars program. Therefore, you are eligible to earn up to $5 for writing reviews as long as the meet the qualifiers below:

• Affiliates of the Inbox Dollars program are awarded $0.25 from InboxDollars for each qualifying review they write (up to $5.00 / max of 20 reviews).

• In order to qualify, review must be a minimum of 900 characters in length and fall within the following categories: Home, Health & Fitness, Beauty, Baby, or Computers and Electronics. Only real products and services qualify. We read all reviews for quality of input and filter out those that are inappropriate or false. This is communicated in the footer of the email.

• The Inbox Dollars program with Viewpoints ends at midnight on 9/15/09.

Egoboo is always a good thing! And who knows? Maybe one day there will be a contest for most points accumulated per month or something. :)

i just posted on the discussion board to see if it would help me accumulate points and it did.i gained 10 points when i posted to a discussion, the points showed right away. i am still looking for more ways to generate more points.

I see you've been posting some reviews :)  That's a good way to go!
