I was going over some comments that I have received and noticed that I am starting to see more people just signing up to post a comment on another persons review...I have seen it on my Sweet Baby Ray's review and a few others and their nic name is reguarding another product they liked or what they are standing for...just wondering if it is just me or are others starting to see this and your thoughts. You would think it would be just as easy to sign up for Viewpoints and wrigt their own reviews :)

Yes actually, I had 2 members in the same day last week that signed up, left me a comment, and didn't do anything else.

I am thinking it is possible they find our review, start typing a comment, and then the site tells them they have to sign up - so they sign up just to post the comment they already wrote, and then that's it.  Weird, I know!

I've received messages from several new members in the last month. It looks like they just signed up to leave me a message. When I went to their profile page, it was empty (no reviews, no pictures, no blogs, etc). I got a weird message the other day. It didn't even pertain to anything. Definitiely weird!

Least I am not alone...I don't know why they don't just write their review...I think it's funny that they make up a name for that product and then just leave a review for their product...must be the new wave : )

Here is my own "take" on people who just sign up to remark on a review.  I have had several of these.  Sometimes they either hate us or want to date us!  At any rate, they only seem to do this when they are feeling emotionally charged about something we have written.  My guess is that many of these people are connected with the companies that make the products we have reviewed.

Sometimes you have to love getting these as some people who sign up (i.e., TheSoupGuy) are very nice.

Alas, I have gotten some that were really nasty too.  One person was so hostile that I actually broke out in hives when I read their message (an unfortunate thing that seems to happen to me now and then in stressful moments, nobody is sure why).

That's the last time I'm going to break out in hives because someone doesn't like a review though because from now on, I figure if somebody has taken the time to sign on just to remark on a review, then we should consider that review a success whether the remark is positive or negative.  Either way, we have rung a bell and someone cares what we have said and that's the most important thing.  Nobody ever promised any of us that everybody would cheer for whatever we have to say.

Take care everybody!

Anna, I've also had people where their comment seemed to be b/c they were against my review.  Usually it is that I liked the product and they write that the product sucks.  At times it is as if they think I am the product creator and they are sending their negative feedback to me as if I can do anything about it :-D

Usually I respond with Sorry you didn't like but I did, maybe you should review it yourself too.

Sometimes I think people don't get that we are not writing product endorsements - we are writing our opinion.  Telling me all the things you hate about the product isn't going to change my opinion of it (unless you tell me it's made of posion!)

That is interesting, Suzi! One of the comments I received on my review for Crunchmaster crackers was to thank me for making a great product. I came to the conclusion they thought I worked for the company that made these crackers. Not long after that I received a really nice comment from the Crunchmaster company thanking me for my review of their product. Now that has never happened before. I was thrilled to get a comment from the company.

One gal left a nasty review about something I had liked and even accused me of being a "shill" for the company!!!!!

If you REALLY want to drive them nuts, thank them for reading your review and tell them it is always nice to meet another fan!!!!!!!!

I get those all the time!  And people that tell me I'm crazy for liking or not liking whatever I reviewed.  I wish theyd just write their own reviews instead of leaving comments that seem to be an attempt to discount what I've written.

Ditto - I've gotten some good comments and no so good and when I go to their profile it is clear they found the review because they were perhaps actually looking for a review of that product and left me a comment. Jo

You are crazy buggheart ;)  Ok just kidding. I get that too!  I once got someone accusing me that I must have only used the product for 2 minutes before reviewing it, when in fact i had used it for months before reviewing it.

I have had people write their own review just to diss mine as well.  It is all part of the game.  I consider it a good thing that I prompted someone to action- good or bad.
