I love the idea of the show, and the actors are top notch, true hollywood talent on regular TV! You got to love it!

Oh, I'm totally watching this show!  Harvey Keitel and Michael Imperioli on the same show, my dreams have come true :-)  Have you seen Harvey Keitel in a movie called Bad Lieutenant?  Best / Worst movie EVER!

^ Seen BL, but its been awhile. If I remember, I liked it. But I liked a lot of sucky movies for one reason or another. This show has all the potential.

I love time travel stories and recorded Life on Mars to watch later, possibly tonight. Don't tell me what happened!

Last season, there was an interesting twist on the time travel story on Fox, called New Amsterdam. It was about a NYC cop who was immortal but only a couple of people knew about his immortality. The show went off the air after eight episodes, just when he was getting close to a woman -- who also happened to be a doctor. Neat show... too bad it's gone.

Bob, I loved New Amsterdam as well.  I've never understood how some shows make it and others don't.  I watched the Eleventh Hour last night [same time slot as Life on Mars].  It was okay but nothing unique.  Next week I'll try Life on Mars.

So, how did everyone like the show? I really liked it. Some slow point, but thats to be expected with a new show.

I recorded Life on Mars and I plan on watching it this weekend. I watched a new show called Eleventh Hour, which I did not like. It came on the same time as Life on Mars.

I liked it, though not as much as some of the other critics did.  I reviewed it, as well. The Bard and I disagreeing again?  Say it ain't so!!! :)

I enjoy our disagreements because, sir, you are opinionated AND knowlegable (unlike some opininated people I know) and you are civil about it.  I always respect your opinion, even when I don't agree with it!

Mike, thank you for the compliment; I return it in kind.  If we always agreed the world--and this board--would be a very dull place indeed!

Well, I saw it and liked it. I will definitely be watching again. There's all sorts of interesting things they can do with a guy who goes back in time 35 years. Hell, I wouldn't mind being sent back 35 years myself... at least for a while.

I finally watched it. I liked it a lot. If I went back 35 years, I would be 2 years old. LOL.

I got home late from a play rehearsal and caught it at about a half hour into the episode. I was lost a little, but I liked what I did watch of it.

I watched it and I liked it!  It is a unique way of looking at our past.  I loved the dancing at the end of tonight's episode.... we need more dancing.  hehe

I watched it as well and thought the first episode was better. It's still watchable though, and I will watch again.

Some of their dated references may be a little off, however. There was a reference to watching Goldie Hawn on the famous TV show, Rowan and Martin's Laugh In. The show went off the air in May 1973, so a reference to the show could be accurate. However, Goldie Hawn was last on the show in Sept. 1970 (according to IMdB). In the previous week's show, the time-traveling cop was questioned suspiciously when he mentioned that he drove a Jeep. The street cop questioning him said, "You drive a military vehicle?" But Jeep had been making civilian vehicles for decades by 1973, including a civilian version of the classic military Jeep, which was called the CJ (for "civilian Jeep").

Imagine all the things that someone going back in time would know, such as the Vietnam War ending in 1973, Nixon resigning in 1974, Jimmy Carter becoming president in 1976, the impending disco era, the Iran hostage crisis in 1979 and Ronald Reagan being shot in 1980. New York City in the mid-1970s was going through one of its worst times and property could be picked up for a song. You could buy a nice brownstone home in 1974 for $50,000 and have it be worth 5-10 times that 10 years later. This show needs to put me on its writing staff...

The jury is still out.

I made sure that my schedule allowed me to be home so I could watch this new series. I 'think' I really like it, but I'm not sure if I'm just trying to convince myself that it's good because of it's great concept.

I agree with bkovaks: "Some of their dated references may be a little off, however". He detailed a lot of what I was thinking much better than I could. But, there have been a few songs for instance that I was thinking didn't come out til maybe 1976. I've had several red-flags go up in my mind as to accurate dating details while I was watching.

The series potentially could be much more interesting if they make the audience feel even more like they time-traveled back into 1973. They are giving it a good try, but not completely hitting the mark.

Also quoting bkovaks, "...thought the first episode was better. It's still watchable though, and I will watch again".

I haven't watched it but I just watched 11th hour which I believe is on at the same time - I taped 11th hour.  I really enjoyed it though like Katrena on another thread I am so procrastinating everything right now.
