For those of you not in around the year sunny locations, are you looking forward to the snow? Do you ski or have kids who love the snow or are you like me who is dreading it? Jo

Too late. It's already here.

I don't ski. I like having full use of my legs.

I don't mind snow really. It's just another thing.

I do enjoy skiing but you have to drive 6-8 hours from NJ in order to find anything worth actually skiing on, so I haven't gone in years.

I've found that I like the snow less and less as I get older, probably because every day of school that we have off due to inclement weather, it is one more day of work in 90 degree June temperatures when I'd rather be at the beach.  If it never snowed here again, I'd be A-OK with that.

I like the first snow of the season, it's a novelty then. Snow is OK if I can stay home and look at it through the window.

But I HATE driving in it. It becomes old real quick!

It's already melting away pretty fast. That's what I love about this place. It can snow a couple feet on Wednesday and be mostly gone by the weekend.

I always look forward to a few big snows in the winter when everything just shuts down and you can cuddle up with a good movie and a fire in the fireplace. The first snow is usually the most anticipated, and everyone always loves a white Christmas!

Oh and we're in Kansas here - no skiing. I think we could cross country if we really wanted to. Instead, we shovel drive ways and go to a local college to sled (if it's not too busy - we have two little toddlers to deal with).

We get pretty deep snow here in Mi. But we are use to it.Our Chih. loves it put his little coat on and jumps in the snow drifts. He's funny to watch.

I love to watch it, love to look at it, love to take pictures of it, and even somewhat enjoy shoveling it...  but I HATE HATE HATE driving in it!

I'm with you on that Suzi! We don't usually have snow here but got 5 inches last year.  Driving was bad, especially with so many who can't drive when there is *not any* snow on the road...imagine snow and ice!

We haven't got any on Long Island yet. We're hoping to look for a place upstate soon. Then we'll really have it. I can't stand walking on the icy stuff, the walker helps keep me from falling but sometimes a good hard gust of wind sends me sliding. I love how it looks but I want to be warm. Looks like I just may have to buy some thermal underwear. hehehe

I LOVE a fresh snowfall when you wake up in the morning, the storm has passed and the sun shines down on the sparkling snow. It is fun to see the animals start to come out of their woodland hiding places and start to explore their new world.

It amazes me that something so beautiful can soon become so ugly as life begins to take its toll. The blanket of white turns grey [sometimes yellow] and soon it has totally lost any beauty it once held.

I am not a fan of snow. The first snowfall is pretty and then it gets dirty and muddy and ugh. Then we have butt high snow for weeks, it melts and looks gross, and starts all over again. And, even if people have lived here in NY all their lives, they suddenly have no idea how to drive the in the snow for the first five or six snowfalls. It's like they have to relearn every year.

I admit, a snowy Christmas is pretty though. Bah humbug. lol.

The snow is okay -- love it at first -- but what I hate is that dangerous ice on the ground that follows.  Everybody be careful!

We've had a lot already. I uploaded some pictures onto my page yesterday of my backyard buried in snow. Yeah it's pretty at first, but I then get tired of the slushy slop and ice.  If I want to see a lot of snow I can drive west for an hour and see it almost any time of the year. I don't need it on my driveway :)

I'm with you. I like both cross-country and downhill skiing, but am not really good at either. Generally though, I'd be just fine if it never snowed again. There is definitely less snow and more mild temperatures here in Virginia than in New York State, where I lived before. That's a good thing.

If the snow could fall and stay off the roads, it would be much better. Why does global warming have to be a bad thing?

I like the snow. Once the crops are harvested, Iowa turns into a flat brown landscape studded with the remains of cornstalks. Even gray snow looks ok. I don't mind it even though I walk everywhere in the cold/snow. It's sad I can't use my bike (safely). My street turns into an ice rink in the winter. My dog kept falling and I had to pick him up and move him to better terrain - he was 55 lbs. I don't know what the new puppy will think of snow. I really look forward to it. (not the driving, though I don't need to drive all that much, the Mister does and he doesn't care)

Rain is a nuisance, snow is worse - but - bearable.  ICE just plain sucks!  Just like pitcherday, I can't get out on my bike in bad weather.

If we didn't have a life here we'd move. I agree that snow is really pretty right after a snowfall. I love blizzards - the kind that keep everyone in MA in the house for 2 days - not the kind that is big enough for me not to get out but for the main roads to be clear. I don't ski, skate, or anything snow related. I really hope it's a mild winter.

I used to love those kind of storms in my CT days.  But that was long ago.  We lived on a winding diving country road.  Great for sledding and even skiing for the more daring.

LOVED the Blizzard of '88 in RI - no school for a week! ice forts and igloos, out with my friends until I got frostbite!!!

Unfortunately, some people didn't get their electricity back for over two weeks, so not as fun for them... but I love when all the trees and stuff get snow on every branch and twig. It's like a wonderland, and I have tons of pictures of the perfectness of freshly fallen snow in New England!!!

How can you bring up that nasty four letter word....."SNOW"....lol!!

When I was a kid I loved it. Now as I am getting older, I want to go someplace warm and sunny. Right now I'm freezing just looking at the word....

The snow is very pretty when it first starts to fall, with no footprints, lightly layered on the branches of the trees. Looks so peaceful and comfy, like a soft pillow, and I love a white Christmas! That is what I look forward to.

Then when you start to see it getting all yuck, black by the side of the road it's just not pretty anymore. Shoveling, well I've done my share plus some. Driving in it I don't mind, it's the people who don't know how that scare me. Just give me my space when driving, because I give it to you. Ice I don't do, that will keep me home for the day, you have no control over it. This last winter was the first time I experienced "BLACK ICE" It was not a good feeling, you have absolutely no control over what your car wants to do. I'm just thankful it was a small patch at like 3:00am, no one else around. I said to myself so that's what that feels like, you don't even see it. I got a real understanding of how the pile ups happen on the roadways.

You did it backwards Jo, lol....that's when babies are usually made. They always talk about how many births because of the bad winters, people snuggling up together and staying indoors  ;~)

I lived in sunny Arizona for 15 yrs.  I can honestly say that I missed the winters here in MI.  Christmas is not the same, when you have 60 degree weather, and no snow.

LOL we were living for 3 days in coats and hats and anything warm - I wouldn't go to the school because they said there was an outbreak of something and we would have had to take a row boat - literally. We were freezing; with no phone; no electricity - and he is my EX husband so snuggling even then wasn't all that appealing.

My mom was pregnant with me. I  was born in April and she said there were still plenty of mounds of snow around because of the massive snowfall that happened. They took lots of pictures, I should fish them out and post a few on my page lol.
