Recently I have noticed strange reviews that do not make sense.  They have a series of random letters for titles and nothing of any value.  Is there a place to report these?

Can anyone explain these to me?  Are these quick reviews or something else?

This is strange. All of ladymzgreeneyes reviews are series of letters in the title and no actual review written. I am not sure!

I saw a set of similar ones the other day but under a different name.

You can send a message or e-mail to Meredith or Joile about it.  They are very quick to respond and are great with diagnosing problems.

I haven't come across any of those.  I thought you meant strange as in content and I thought, "Oh my, she might be talking about some the things I have wanted to write on."  Maybe someone is doing this just to throw readers for a loop.    Try sending the writer a comment and inquire on what that's all about.  I know you can do it!!

Speaking of strange events, I have been hearing from that guy who wrote that nasty review about me, I don't know if you remember him.  It's under that thread started by Joy-Joy about "Has Anybody Else Seen This Review?" or something like that.  Well, just a heads-up -- apparently when they deleted the review, they kept the guy and he's still a part of ViewPoints.  More to the point, he is now haunting the message boards.  So my advice is that -- if anybody notices anything wierd in the future at least about an attack on me -- it might be best to not say anything but just hit "Unappropriate" which will forward it back to the office.  I really appreciated your concern for me the last time but sometimes the best way to deal with a perverse bid for attention is just to seem to ignore it.  I hope you guys are having a nice weekend!

I haven't seen these, but it sounds like an automated system of some kind.

Hi there. I just read ladymzgreeneyes reviews (????) and left a comment for her on her profile page, I also included that I am looking forward to hearing from her. Maybe I'll get an answer to the mystery. If I do I'll let you know.

Anna, I just read the comment Optiplex745 left for you. He thanked you for having him censored. You didn't have him censored, his actions did. Then I went to his profile page and read comments left for him and his one review. Hmmmm ......... not a happy person. I read your comment about the review. hehehehe You did make me laugh. You didn't completely ignore him and I don't blame you.

Well, let's just say as of yesterday I wasn't completely ignoring him!  Then I realized that what he wanted was to get a "rise" out of me.  It just really turns me that this guy might be getting a rush out of hurting me and my reactions so NOW I'm completely ignoring him.  It really bothers me that he is on the boards here and can read these discussions of ours!  I must admit that I let him have it with a few good ones yesterday but sometimes that's like pouring kerosene on a fire!

Hi, George!  I can still see the "Inappropriate" link on the comments and stuff but maybe it's a software thing.  Some of the changes they've made maybe weren't totally compatible with what everybody has.

I agree with you, Anna. He soes not seem like a very happy person. He didn't even write a real review, only complaints. What discussion boards has he been posting in? If he reads, he will find you have a lot of friends supportive of you, Anna.  He was wrong.

I still see the inappropriate link. I find it after a review in the comment section.

Meredith, I guess my question is that although the review seems weird to me it may be normal for a quick review that someone intends to come back and fix.  What is your take on it?  Before hitting the inappropriate button I want to know if it is something that is to be reported.

We do not see occurrences of user's updating or editing content that was originally run on letters entered seemingly to fill character requirements. Also, I should note that when you report something as inappropriate it is not automatically removed. We investigate the content first, then make the call.

A general rule for a quick review... It should supply a star rating and a sound bite (quick blurb about the topic) that is legible and pertains to the topic. We leave an open box for additional comments but it's totally optional.

Does this help answer your question?

I just did exactly that. I was reading Anna's Healthy Choice soup review and saw a very inappropriate comment. I clicked on and gave my reason for doing so. I feel very strongly about it. It was uncalled for. I also left a reply to his comment.

I pasted in a copy of what I reported. Hope this was ok. What can you do, Meredith?

Anna, please go  to your Healthy Choice soup review. I did what my conscience and my heart told me to. I reported his comment as inappropriate. I also replied to his comment telling him exactly what I reported. If he wants attention there are better and healthier ways to get it without trying to hurt and disrespect you (or anyone else). I hope you don't mind, friend, but I feel strongly about this and am concerned.

We remove comments that violate our terms of service. For specific details about content we don't allow... please see the section called User Content Posted By You on the Viewpoints Site. The content marked  as inappropriate is pulled in a report that we monitor daily. Also, Users who do not adhere to our terms of service after warning run the risk of account cancellation.

We have seen the best way to deal with this type of behavior in an online community is to rise above and ignore it. Trouble makers want to get a rise out of people and when they do... they get what that want.

There are SO many wonderful people here who contribute lots of good vibes and genuine, constructive content to our community. Let's spot light those folks who deserve the attention and appreciation!

I really appreciate all the support I've been getting and your response to him, LadyMagic, but I agree with Meredith -- I was wrong to let him upset me and shouldn't have responded myself and I don't expect any of you to go to bat for me although I appreciate it.  This guy reminds me of a "breather" or a guy who makes obscene phone calls.  Someone like that really gets off on somebody else's hysterical reaction and I'm not going to give this guy any more pleasure than I have to.  We can't let someone like this wreck our morale here.  I'm just going to ignore him and let HIM be the one to get hysterical!

You gotta look at the positive side, Meredith!  (My glass is always half full, etc.)

This may actually increase my hits per review.  People might start checking out the reviews not just for the reviews themselves but for what this guy has to say about them.  That's okay with me ... WHATEVER IT TAKES!

Well, have a nice day everyone and I'm going offline to do some more research for another review which this guy probably won't like either, haha!

Thank you, Meredith. This is very helpful. Next time, if there is a next time, I will just ignore him but quietly click on inappropriate.   I hope no one thinks I made anything worse. I was just trying to do the right thing. I was trying to help.

I know he upset you. Me too. We are entitled to our feelings. Nothing wrong with that. As I said I was just trying to do the right thing. I'll ignore him if there are future incidents and simply click on "inappropriate".  Happy writing, Anna!

Trolls are everywhere on the interwebz. As you all said above, their main pleasure is to get a reaction from other people by being rude, crude and contrary. Always remember Rule #1 for dealing with these people: Please Do Not Feed The Trolls!

I know I've thanked you in a private comment and elsewhere for making such a positive difference here.  I was very touched by it and I feel that God was watching your good deed.  Thanks again, Lady!  I'm signing off for tonight.

Anna, not only are you my friend, you are an artist. Why an artist? Different artists ( painters, writers, songwriters, performers) I have met along the way have told me, a sign or trait of an artist is one who evokes an emotion from the viewer. Your reviews and comments make me hungry (all those tasty food reviews) or teary eyed (touched by your comments) or concerned ( your health and past situations) and ALWAYS happy and proud to be your friend. Thank you, Anna !!!!!   Viewpoints and your friends are blessed with you.
