I think that one of the best things about ViewPoints is that you don't need to be an expert of a product in order to give your thoughts on it.  If you own something, and have used it, or have watched a movie and enjoyed it, I think that is the perfect time to review it!  Just sharing your thoughts can be very valuable to someone looking to purchase something, can help a person decide if they should go see a movie, and can point a potential consumer towards the best brands available.  Being honest in your review is the most important thing, and if you take the time to put your thoughts down in words, it can serve as a valuable resource to many other users!

Amen. Every review you write helps others to make a choice. I feel good when I warn someone of a bad product or when I find a great product or service and share it. I love that I can review what I want too. I have reviewed some screwy things but someone out there just may be looking for reviews on those screwy things! :)

Very well said Spokaneman! Helping others to either enjoy great products or warning them of potential problems is a Win/Win situation!

I love Viewpoints because you get to help others and you never know about new products until you try them.  Everything you use everyday you can review, and the site is such a great way to experience new things and help others.

You don't have to be a professional writer to write here.  Just have a Viewpoint to get across.  That's what's really great about this site.  Have fun while you're here.

I absolutely love that we can review whatever we want to and don't have to jump through hoops to try to get the item added. If we own it, most likely others do too and I'm sure that it is helpful for them to find a review on it.  I think the new message board is fantastic! Kudos to Viewpoints for always improving the site!  The stats are awesome too!!!

I too love that we can review anything; that no one has to put their approval stamp on it and find it not helpful because the ingredients aren't listed; that we can add pictures; oh and did I say that we can review anything:) Jo

Those ingredient listings go both ways...some harp because you DO list them at the other place leaving you to wonder what to do in some cases.  That's what is so nice about VP, everyone is on equal footage here.  Karen

I guess this rolled out right after the update last night.  I had a headache and turned in.  Figures I missed a good thing!  It looks great and you have made some excellent points, SpokaneMan.

I totally agree!!!!  My husband always laughs at me because everything new I eat, visit, buy or drink I say "hey, I can review this!" It always hits me like that.  I forget that I can review anything I want and then suddenly I remember that VP let's you add stuff. I love it.

I like that I don't have to be an "expert" and don't have to write out full out guides of the product. I just say as much as I want to tell if I liked it or not. Besides, I'd rather read a bunch of regular people's reviews than an experts opinion any day.  You know most movies I really loved were knocked down by expert critics? What do they know :)

Well we all have our hobbies!  I always tell my wife that my writing is a lot better than some other bad habits I could have, at least this one is free to do!  :)

I just scare my husband because I am always taking pictures for my reviews. He saw me taking a picture of the cat eating her food and told me I better not even think about it with him.  Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat...It's for the review honey.  I get him to try new things too for my reviews to see how he likes it.  He caught on :)

I agree and disagree, a person should choose an item that can be reviewed and is written in a way that can be useful to others. Choosing anything around the house can be taken too far, i mean, does anyone really need to review toilet paper lol or a keyboard button piece from the 80's.
The product should be chosen carefully by the person, in that the person has the ability to  analyze the item thoroughly, breaking it down to pro's, con's and contrast.

"Um, this is a button, it's kind of shiney and is round, the holes are pretty cool............"

You would be amazed at the things people look up and want to know about. I wrote about a mini refrigerator that was discontinued about fours years ago on another site and it has zillions of hits. I honestly don't know why. I think eBay and other types of shoppers look for older, less in demand products. Just looking at my stats, I can see I have a mix of new items and old stuff that I didn't think anyone would care about.

I agree you don't need to (and shouldn't) review EVERYTHING in the world. But I think there are people out there who may just want to read a review of something obscure and if we have it and no one else does, they'll come here and maybe stick around! :)
