How did you come up with your user name? I see some very interesting ones and always wonder.

My story is not amazing. I use my name but add the A, since most sites tell me, "Sorry, Cyndi is taken." I figure life around here is hectic enough without trying to remember my other names (-:

It's kind of a long story with two parts....

When my DH and I got married we bought a small house that had no landscape so we put in grass and plants and shrubs and every day I'd come home from work and tend to my garden to get it established. Well there was this gigantic praying mantis that lived in one of my shrubs but he moved around a lot from shrub to shrub so when I hit each plant with the water from the hose he'd come flying out and attack me and I'd drop the hose and run into the house screaming "ugly bug, ugly bug ahhhhhhhh" and all the neighbors would laugh.  Years later when I was trying desperately to find an email user name that was interesting and not already taken I resorted to using uglybugg as it was the only creative, unique thing I could think of.  It is unique and if you Google the name there's a 99% chance that the things you find are mine.

About 2 years ago I decided that the "ugly" in my name was not good for me self esteem so I decided to change it to something more positive while keeping the "Bugg" part of it.  I'm a bit of a Norma Rae and am always standing up and mouthing off about something that bothers me or some injustice.  I also love movie Braveheart for the same reason of standing up for what you believe in so I started changing what I could to the name Buggheart

Ha! Great story! Now everytime I see a LUSH store AND now a praying mantis, I will think of you. Hilarious.

My Internet handles started with a 1956 Buick Century convertible, white with a red interior. At the time I had this car it was popular to name your cars and paint the name on them. I got a lot of kidding about having a chick-mobile (I was single) and the song Moonlight Gambler had recently been on the Top Ten hits list. That was the car's name and I got a friend to paint it on.

CB got popular and I had a base station. I needed a handle and thought about the car so used Moonlight Gambler as my CB handle. It usually got shortened to Gambler in conversation. When I first got on the Usenet and other early Internet sites I went with the same handle, shortened to Gambler or some variation of it if the base name was taken. Most of my Internet handles today have gambler as the base name with whatever I need to make it unique. I used epsgambler first on eBay.

I used to use njchica but over the years other Jersey girls started beating me to it.  Because I am completely not creative at all, I added an extra "a" so it'd be like njchic-aaah.  Some people look at it and don't know what it means.  Some think that it refers to ninjas.

Mine is not creative.  One of my older cousins always called me NATSCAT and I hate it.  I'm 46 years old for heaven's sake.  His kids started calling me that when they learned to talk so I figured I'd make it "official".  At least it's different.

I usually use wotf_patty or wotfpatty but, when it matters like here or other places where I want people to know I am for real and not behind a net name, I use my own name which this is. I'm not sure if it is smart or not to use my name on the net but it's too late to turn back now! Besides, my last name is one no one who doesn't know me well can say right so, if I get funny calls asking for me and they say the last name wrong, I know they don't "know" me. Ha!

I'm with you on this. (Great minds think alike or something like that).  I feel like I need to use my real name here so people will know I'm real.  Besides, you can't ID me by looking for my picture at the post office anymore! :)

In spite of my fondness of music, my name has absolutely nothing to do with jazz music or singing in the musical sense.

When I first started going online, I spent a fair amount of time in ESPN chat rooms.  You were allowed to create whatever screen name you wanted when you entered a room, so I had different names for the different rooms, depending on the sport.  Of the names I made up, my favorite was the one I used in the basketball room, JazzSinger (Jazz = Utah Jazz, Singer = one who sings the praises of).  I liked the name so much that it became my online name and the username I use on most sites.

It's my name.
I use another name in other circles: stellasnothere.  I chose it right after losing my favorite cat, Stella.  I simply stated "Stella's not here."  I have been surprised how many people write to me and begin the communication with Dear Stella.

My username here is a tip of the hat to a character from a Star Wars novel, The New Rebellion. The book isn't that great, but I liked the name Fardreamer a lot, so I incorporated it into my AOL e-mail address when I switched ISPs from Juno Web to America Online in 2001.

I usually go by alexdg1 on Yahoo Messenger and at "the other site" where I write reviews, but knowing that there are people there who (a) don't like me and (b) feel that writing here hurts "that" site, I decided to use Fardreamer here to avoid being tarred and feathered.

Let me get this straight: You are a Utah Jazz fan?  Interesting.  I noticed we share the same birthdate as well.

If my sister were picking my username, I would have ended up with PintoBean, because she loved to call me that. I think PintoBean was taken...and Cornbread too, so I just use my real name--Katrena. Several participants in my aerobics class said they knew the hurricane was going to be a bad one as soon as they heard it was called Katrina...go figure.

Actually, it makes perfect sense.  Did you ever wonder why the team is called the Jazz, but Salt Lake City is hardly the cradle of jazz music?  It's because the team was founded as the New Orleans Jazz.  They just didn't bother to change the nickname of the team when they moved.  In spite of having the Hornets, many people from Louisiana still like the Jazz, even if they're not a big fan of the team.  Also, two of the best players to ever play for the Jazz both have Louisiana connections.  Karl Malone is from Louisiana and played his college ball at Louisiana Tech, and "Pistol" Pete Maravich played his college ball at LSU.

It just so happened I was in a terrific mood the day I came up with my user name.  I knew I wanted something with the word "Love" in it, and after a couple of moments LoveisJoy was born.

A few years ago, I got sick of the gossip sites 1) starting rumors about absurd celeb pairings and 2) given celeb couples those annoying, amalgamated nicknames (Bennifer! Brangelina!) I did a sloppy cut-and-paste in MS Paintbrush and made up a new and unlikley celebrity pairing: Topher Grace and Telma Hopkins. Telma + Topher = Telpher.

I wish that your assessment of my popularity at the other site was accurate, but I know of several people who don't have a high opinion of me there.  That's okay; I don't expect every person in the world to like me, though I'd like for them to.

My name is Krista Lynn. I dropped the "ta" and used krislynn as my username. I have gotten in the habit of using krislynn when I create a username on other websites because it seems kristalynn is always taken.

Sometimes I will use my dogs name with their birthday on the end. 9 times out of 10 that username is never taken.

I like all of your usernames, I wished I had capitalized the "K" and "L" in mine.
