I'm just gonna be honest and say I'm annoyed.  If this were the first time this happened, it wouldn't be a big deal.  I just posted a review an hour ago and nobody can see it.  It was on the community page right after, but then disappeared.  It does not show up on my profile and it does not show up on the list of "Latest Reviews", even though several other people who have written reviews in the past hour have their reviews showing on their profiles and on the list of latest reviews.  This is so not cool.  Has anyone else had this happen?

Well, it's struck me too.  I wrote 2 reviews this morning, and one of them is nowhere to be found (Symm Time).

The good news is that they do eventually show up on the profile page.  Both of mine have appeared this morning.  I've been told they haven't lost one yet!

Ok, well now the second one (Carbonite) disappeared, too.

My review appeared on my page this morning. All is well. Considering they just did a pretty big overhaul of the home page, we should really be patient and trust that they will fix this bug in a timely manner. It is rare that we have any major issues and any minor ones are always fixed properly and in record time. Hang in there everyone!

Hear, hear! I had a review not show up on my page last night and it is here now and rated. Considering I have been dealing on another site with issues that have been promised to be fixed for YEARS and haven't been, I think the folks here at VP are doing a great job.

Things are changing. Let's support them rather than get all upset. Makes sense to me. :)

My "missing one" from yesterday was up on my profile yesterday, and it was never truly inaccessible if you knew where to look, so that wasn't so bad.  Today's review is up on my profile as well.

By the way, Patty, happy birthday!

Updated to reflect the following....

Well, today's review of Mynock Hunt had been on my home page briefly, and now it's not.  It's in the site...it can be accessed by other members if they know the "more reviews by..." trick when they read a review, but casual visitors to VP may not know this.

That having been said, I'm not upset or worried about my review's existence...it's in the site and has a URL and all...but I did want to chime in to let the IT wizards know the bug is still biting me!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! Yesterday I posted one and although my review count went up it was no place to be found for over 3 hours. Now again I posted another and same thing it moved my review count up but is not showing any where....I guess it just doesn't like me...I sure hope it is fixed soon, this is frustrating!!

I just said this on another thread also,  I have a similar problem, I wrote 3 reviews within about 20 minutes of each other and 2 have not shown up yet.  I am actually kind of glad someone already started this thread.  I don't feel so alone now.  I also noticed that very few of my recent reviews were getting hits, I just figured it was because most of mine are on books nobody really cared about.  Maybe I will get some yet.

I just tried to say Mynock Hunt three times fast and BOY, did it sound many shades of wrong! lol.

I think the lag will straighten out but really, is it THAT big a deal if it takes a couple of hours to post? I mean, it'll be there soon. We just need  to stay cool and let VP work this thing out.

I agree with Patty here.  I know my comment might have sounded irritated, and to be sure, it was, but I attribute that to it being late and me being tired.  These folks here do a fine job and I'm very happy with this site.  So, if my post sounded alarmist and "screaming into the night", I apologize.   The point did need to be brought up, however, because they can't fix what they don't know about.

I think this thread [and a similar thread] provided a great sounding board to the frustration felt.  One person commented, "Misery loves company."  I think it helped to vent and realize that the problem had not just singled one writer out individually.

That said, the reviews don't get lost.  They are in the system and eventually post.  The more writers there are the more chance that glitches will happen.  Be glad that the site is growing and we are all a part of it.  It is exciting.

For me, the wait to see my reviews fully posted was 14+ hours, but it made me feel better knowing that others were having the same issues.  It's like when your electricity goes out.  You're actually glad to see that your neighbors are out, too.  It's not because you want them to have problems, but it's because then you know it's a larger issue that will certainly be addressed.

I didn't mean to come off as finger wagging. I guess I am just used to issues taking ages to be corrected from other sites and am impressed with how quickly things get done around here or at least acknowledged and worked on. I understand the frustration of a review not showing up. It has happened to me several times. Now, I don't worry. I do keep copies "in case" though.

And certainly it needed to be addressed and discussed so VP could see that it was a sitewide issue and not just affected a few of us.

I wrote a review an hour ago and it seems to be missing too.  It's not on my Profile page or anywhere....I just can't find it. Usually my reviews are listed on my page immediately.

OK now it's my turn to be annoyed.  I just posted a comment that a review I wrote more than an hour ago seems to be missing, but then I see that my comment didn't post either.  I just wrote another review and that one is displayed, but the one I did an hour ago still isn't.

Let's see if this comment posts.

Your post must have fallen through the tear i the Matrix. Just a joke to ake you smile, I'm sure they will get this all running 97% real soon.  We will all hope for 100% but more than likely settle for somewhat less.  Guess what I'm not 100% either LOL

UPDATE: The lag time with review posts is corrected each night when our system updates. The content is NOT LOST. We are working to resolve this problem so we can get back to reviews immediately appearing on your profile page after publishing. Again, we're sorry for the wait and appreciate your patience.

You can make edits to your reviews from the review page in search results even if it's not appearing on your profile page. So if you publish a review, wait 30 min. for it to show up in search results, then you can make changes. There is an "edit this review" link on the review page.

First off, I apologize for the issues you all are having and I can appreciate the frustration. I've been in your shoes, where mysterious system issues create intermittent problems that make no sense, and it stinks. I'm here to let you know a couple of things:
  1. The issue is important to us, and we are working on it
  2. Your content is not lost, and will show up on the site, although not as quickly as either of us would like if you get caught by the issue
  3. When we expect you to see your reviews on the site if you are caught up in this issue.
To reiterate Meredith's point: reviews aren't getting lost and disappearing from the system. The fact that the URLs will resolve and show the review even when they can't be navigated to from other places on the site is good evidence that they have been saved successfully and will come back at some point. Usually around 6:00am the next day.

The tech team has been tracking these reports and analyzing why this impacts some reviews and not others. We are making progress, and when we have an update for you, we'll let you know here.

In terms of what to expect: your reviews should always be visible on your profile page for at least the first 30 minutes after you post it. If it dissappears from your profile page after that your review got caught by this issue. Your review should appear under the product/item you reviewed about 45 minutes after you posted it. If it doesn't, then your review got caught by this issue.

In any case, even if your review got caught by this issue, it should show up back on your profile page and under the product after 6:00am the next morning. If it doesn't, you are experiencing a different issue and should let us know.

Thanks for you patience while we address this issue. Hopefully we'll have an update soon.

Thanks. Now its time to air my frustration. I posted two this AM and neither shows but they exist as they are listed at the bottom of my reviews.  Too bad nobody reads them and finds em. :>

George,

If your friends have you listed on immediate or daily alerts for when you write a review, they will still get the alert and can access the review by clicking on that link in the email. I have had several helpful votes appear after my review was missing and showed up.

I wanted to let you all know we made some changes yesterday that should drastically reduce the number of reviews that are impacted by this issue. If you see this issue again, please don't hesitate to update us here with the product you were reviewing and we'll continue to keep an eye on the issue.

Thanks again.

I have had posts go missing over 5 or 6 occasions over the last few months.  The last instance was just this week.  They do turn up eventually, but it is kinda unnerving.
