Interesting.... this time I hit the main page it was Whirlpool featured reviews. 

really? no one has thoughts on these featured reviews?

I have to assume that the block you're referring to is paid advertising. It's the one at the upper-right part of the home page? At the moment on my computer, it's clearly an ad for Kenmore.

At the bottom of the home page is a block called "Featured Reviews." For the past week or so (ever since the new page was rolled out), that's been the same three air conditioner reviews: Kenmore, DeLonghi and Haier. It must be nice to have a review so consistently featured on the home page...

I'm kind of worried about that block.  It looks like the site is promoting those brands (which I guess they are if it is paid advertising), but aren't we supposed to be offering honest viewpoints on products that we've used here? Those featured brands/reviews might give some new visitors the perception that the site has biased reviews.

The top, right hand corner block is a rotating ad space. This block rotates between a couple different features right now, this will change periodically:

• Community Speaks Out - Sponsored by Whirlpool
• Kenmore Elite paid ad

We do want to make sure the divide between advertising and consumer feedback is cleary defined. We can look at ways to make sure ads are obvious. We do have to have some ads and are happy to find that well known and established brands want to be associated with this community's reviews.

Right now, the featured reviews are of a seasonal product - air conditioners. We will be switching this up each month with new reviews and new types of seasonal products.
