I'm curious about how much people are spending for gas in different locations. I am paying about $3.95 per gallon, but if I drive 20 miles to the south or west, it is only $3.69. I still do not understand why there are such big fluctuations in price.

Don't hate me! I'm paying $2.65 a gallon. In Iowa the gas is supplemented with Ethanol. The regular unleaded without it is much more expensive than the super with it. Here Diesel is cheaper than both!

2.61/gal for regular octane--yes, it contains Ethanol. However, Diesel costs more.

That only works if you have a vehicle that supports ethanol... we have it here too but my 1993 Saturn won't take it. It is coming down slightly but not enough yet.
Last I saw was 2.79 for regular.

It's 10% Ethanol. I have a Nissan Xterra, the regular kind. I've never had a problem with it. It's not the E80 Ethanol-only stuff. I was concerned when I moved here about the Ethanol, but the Nissan dealer said it's ok for regular cars.
Now that I read your post, maybe a 1993 would not take it so well. Mine is a 2006. That's probably why they have the no ethanol option. Look I learned something...

Yup the only options we have available right now are regular unleaded or E85. For a while there when our prices went down far enough many people weren't even buying the E85 because the regular was just about as cheap. They say that if it's not a $.50 difference in price you aren't really saving anything because you get worse mileage with the E85.

The local gas station is $2.51/gallon. The cheapest I've found is $2.41, and some stations charge over $2.70 - quite a range! The only good thing about gas in N.J. is that we don't pump our own; by law, attendents do it.

Boy, that takes me back! When I started driving self service stations were unheard of. Nowadays you're hard pressed to find a "full service" station in most parts of the country. Hey, that sounds like a survey in waiting!!

What a difference a state makes! I was traveling back from a mission's trip in KY on Sunday and we stopped for gas in Tennessee and paid $2.09. Then Monday back in SC I filled up at $2.39.
