I'm curious about how much people are spending for gas in different locations.  I am paying about $3.95 per gallon, but if I drive 20 miles to the south or west, it is only $3.69.  I still do not understand why there are such big fluctuations in price.

Prices are slowly creeping upward. We are now at $2.12 a gallon. But this is still well below the Houston peak price of about $4.00 per gallon, so I have no complaints.

I just got back from lunch and an errand and noticed the place nearest to me is $2.39.  I think that might be down slightly from a few days ago.

At $2.48 I have complaints.  True that's not near the $3.50 of previous, but in reality the price has gone up almost a dollar in less than 6 months.  Price per barrel isn't going up that fast.

Just went up 10 cents per gal overnight--now 2.39.

Up to 2.45/g --that was our Memorial Day surprise, or welcome to summer prices.

Yeah it's things like that which are making me question any new purchase.... Seeing the gas go up makes me scared that last summer/year will repeat itself throughout the economy!

Oops --price rose overnight--at the moment 2.49/g.  Locally, most people we know did little travel over the holiday.  Locally, there are just 2 wks of school; then soon after that families may wonder about summer plans, or perhaps--a "Staycation"--as it is termed locally.  :-(

:( We are driving up north for vacation but I still think driving is cheaper than a plane ride.  Luckily we cut a lot of other expenses out of the trip and tried to make this a cheap one!  I think people are silly to skip vacations altogether because there are still ways to make it budget-friendly.  Maybe I should start a discussion about this :)

Up to 2.55/g last evening.  Locally, seems to creep anywhere from 5-6 cents more per gallon on a daily basis.

Man that's just steep *grins*

Just gassed up today for $2.83.  With a weekend approaching, I can see that going up even further within the next day or two.  The new "excuse" is the weakening US Dollar and foreign investors blah blah...

I just posted a review today of Gasbuddy.com. In it, I mentioned a resource in the site that shows all of the counties of the United States with varying colors to indicate relative gasoline prices with the rest of the nation. The states with the most red (used to indicate high priced gasoline) are California, Washington, and Michigan. I can understand the west coast, but Michigan? Why are prices so high there? I'm sure there is an economic reason, but I do not know what it is.

B/c we in Michigan are always the first to get ripped off, that's why.  That sounds about right, our prices are always going up it seems before the rest of you all.

Michigan has to be the best at something... highest gas prices in the US.  Truely we have no idea.  Once the national average is stated in public media, it's guaranteed that the prices here will go up.

Michigan's economy has been so bad so for so long the gas companies are getting greedy and hijacking prices.  And we have a governer who won't do anything about it.  People aren't driving as much or even buying as much convenience stuff and the stations are loosing money big time.  There's been many in this area that have gone out of business.
