If you find something fishy on the site that you don't typically experience, (e.g. error messages, trouble posting content, etc.) let us know.

The more details we know, the better. Please supply as much helpful info as possible like:

1) What web browser are you using? (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.)

2) If having trouble posting a review... What product are you attempting to add?

3) If you receive an error message, what does it say? (e.g. Server error, We're sorry an error has occured.)

I am keeping a record of these issues you are reporting here. Our tech team will be investigating each item on a weekly basis in order to prioritize the workload efficiently. If I don't reply directly to your post here... please know that your message has been noted and submitted to our team each week. In some cases, I may need to reply to you by email. Some issues can be resolved easily and quickly. Others will take extra time so we want to make sure high priority issues are addressed first. Thank you.

Same as Jo's problem, plus I can't seem to add anyone to my friends list.

It's not just you, Jo. When I click a Helpful button the browser just hangs with the little spinning icon. Went out to see "Space Chimps" --- 2-1/2 hours later, still hanging, icon still spinning....

Me again...not sure if my computer is weird today or if it's the site but I can't leave a comment or a helpful vote (: Jo
I'm able to leave comments but no helpful votes. We'll take a look. As always, thanks for the report. Enjoy your Sunday ;)

I have the same problem -- and I just posted three reviews! I've tried rating with two different browsers (Mozilla and IE6) over a period of several hours and neither works.

I haven't been able to give helpful votes or post comments all day today, but I was able to put a comment on someone's homepage.

I just now noticed that when I put quotation marks in my book titles when starting two reviews (Rainbow Fish and Dora's Perfect Pumpkin), that the quotation marks are replaced by something else. They are fine in the one-liner under the star rating--it's in the section above that. Is there any way for me to edit that?

Me too!  I thought it was my 'puter since I was having a problem with another site that I use.  I could only post comments on profile pages, no helpful votes or comments on reviews ... so to friends and fans sorry I really was reading last night! :-)

No biggie. Only our office team has rights to edit review titles (also known as product names.) I have removed the quotation marks from the reviews you noted so the title now appears correctly. It's best to leave out quotation marks in these fields in the future. Thanks :)

The review I wrote last night - Burt's Bees SPF 15 sunblock - was not showing up. I checked this morning and it was listed as a draft. When I hit publish, it disappeared. My total for reviews does reflect that review. I know because it was number 400. But it seems to be lost.

Update on the problem with the helpful voting and commenting on reviews:  the team tracked this down yesterday and resolved it last night.  You should be able to mark reviews as helpful (or not) and leave comment once again.

Also, for folks that post a review and then don't see it, please be patient.  There is typically a lag in the system from when you post it until it shows up in the "index" and thus on your profile page, the latest reviews page, etc.  If you post your review and you successfully see the review page, they rest assured that the system has your review and that it isn't lost.  In every case but one that has been reported, the system had already caught up by the time I saw the forum post and started investigating.  In no case at all was a review lost.

Now, that said, I'll have to take a look and see if there is some unusual slowness in the process that can be reduced.  And by all means, keep giving us your feedback!

Hi Kevin! Yep. I see it now. I thought it went up last night as I don't recall ever drafting an article. The main reason I was checking back was that it was 400. I was working toward that (-:

Bet you guys have been pulling your hair out. Tks for working late and fixing the buttons. I had been out of town, and it took me a bit to figure out those weren't working. Goodness knows how many I pressed that didn't show. Sorry to folks that I clicked but didn't get counted as I sure can't recall which ones those were.

Although I hate that maintainance window... I always seem to be trying to work on something when it comes.  Thanks for all the hard work you guys do.  a couple of days for a problem like this to be resolved is wonderful.

It appears e-mail alerts of comments are wonky again.  All of my switches are in the on position and I've checked my spam box too... no VP alerts for probably 2 days of comments.

Yes, we have had some email issues and are actively working to fix them.  Right now emails are being sent out, but there is a backlog that is currently being processed.

Sounds good... I've gotten one e-mail but there's been several comments yesterday and today.  I've seen all of them though (I think).  Good to know you guys are right on top of it as usual.

Hi! Just a quick question, or maybe a bug, dunno yet! Ya see, I posted a review yesterday around noon (mtn. time) and it shows up everywhere except on my stats page (which I also just found yesterday around noon mtn. time d;-). Does it take a day or two for new reviews to show up on the stats?

Edit: Oh yeah! Another question: I was looking at the number of reads for each of my 4 pitiful reviews d;-) and trying to make the numbers match up with the Total Views up at the top of the stats page, but no matter how much I try, and I've even used the "new math" a few times, 85 + 38 + 22 + 7 will not = 190. I really don't think the missing review I posted yesterday got the missing 38 page views either, so that leaves me a bit more confused than I usually am.

DUISparky, thanks for posting your stats conundrum.  It's definitely been reported before that new reviews won't be listed for an extra 24 hour period.  But I haven't heard of the mismatch between the total views and the items listed below it.

I'll take a look and see if I can glean any info as to what might be causing this.  Thanks for reporting!

Thanks for checkin it out and not just puttin it down to a confused noob! <grin>

Here's more info, if it helps: In the few hours since I posted about this weirdness I received a couple of "helpful" ratings on a couple different reviews, and even a comment, but none of the above mentioned numbers changed at all. People can't rate and comment without viewing can they? d;-)

The behavour that you've observed is correct.  Page view stats are calculated nightly and won't change throughout the day.  Helpful votes do update in realtime though.

I've also found the bug that you initially observed.  Expect it to be fixed in the next week or so.  No data was lost, it was just a day delayed in some cases.

I cannot post a review.  I keep getting the following message:

1 error prohibited this review from being saved.

  • is invalid

I've made sure all the little boxes were checked and re-typed all punctuation marks that in the past have held-up a review. The review is stuck in limbo - can't save it and can'r post it :(

I wrote a review about the Hunting Island lighthouse about an hour ago but couldn't find it on my homepage. I did go under community and noticed it was there. Weird....

I was writing a review about "The Difference Between Babies & Cookies." I typically spell out "and" but that is how the title appears on the cover. However, when I published the review, it put something weird in place of the & sign. Is this to keep us from using symbols like this in our review titles or is this a bug?

Hey, thanks--I see this has already been fixed. Cool--someone else burns the midnight oil like I do!

UPDATE: We have a bug in the review title that distorts the appearance of the "&" symbol. Please substitute & with "and" until we can get this issue corrected. If any of you already posted a review with the "&" symbol and now the title looks funky ... just send me the link and I'll fix it for you - meredith@viewpoints.com. Thanks!

I am trying to save Draft a review or even publish it and I keep getting little brown text at the top of the page as follows.  Can't save or anything.

1 error prohibited this review from being saved.

That's what it says but the invalid doesn't say what is invalid.
