These nail clippers are great for very large dogs, or nails that are curling around or ingrown. I used them for many years at an animal hospital I worked at, and we had the same pair for all that time....they are durable! Also, unlike many other nail clippers the spring in the middle never became loose or fell off. Naturally, they would become dull, but you can always send them in for sharpening. If they did become dull, however, they would crush the nail...even the large ones. Also, if not sharpened, in addition to crushing the nail, it snapped your finger between the handles or frayed the nail. These are too heavy to use on smaller nails like puppies, cats, or bunnies. The handles were pretty comfortable. Additionally, I never noticed any rust on these clippers. Many other nail clippers always rust in the middle where the screw is. Finally, I wanted to mention that if the clippers were dull, the dogs seemed to HATE the nail trim.

These nail clippers have been a life saver for us and our doggies. My pit bull hates having his nails clipped. I have had a few other kinds of nail clippers and I could never get him to sit still long enough to clip any of his nails. They were also very hard to operate. Now I know why. I can actually get my dog to lay still while I clip all of his nails. The clippers being so sharp also means than even though I'm not extremely strong, I can cut through even thick claws easily and quickly. My lab had really thick claws and I could never get the other clippers to work for me. These however were great. The guard is fantastic. I have not cut too much even once using these nail clippers. Also, they are constructed very well. I had a pair break once but it doesn't look like that will be an issue with these.

This nail clipper is just nice. It gets the job done well without stressing the dogs out or accidentally clipping someone's quick. My dogs normally dread nail clippings, but this product makes the process nice and swift. This nail clipper fits well in your hand and comes with a nail guard. The nail guard is a piece of metal that is behind the clipper. It makes it harder for you to accidentally clip too much of the nail off. This nail guard is great for beginners because that way you can clip a little at a time and not worry about hurting your puppy. For those who are more experienced, you can retract the nail guard and clip more at a time. The nail clipper is very sharp and clips the nail in once quick snip. I prefer these kinds of nail clippers over the guillotine and grinder versions. I recommend these clippers for any dog owner. I've had them for over three years and they have held up well with regular use.

Clipping your dogs nails yourself can be a task, as many dogs do not like it one bit. Often times the clippers do damage and scare your pet so the task becomes harder. We have a 70 lb Boxer and we use these clippers on him. We have been using these clippers for about 3 yrs now. One thing we like most about these clippers is that they have a nail guard which helps prevent you from clipping off too much nail or going to far into the 'quick' of the nail. You will have to hold your pets paw securely, place the nail in the clipper, and clip. Even though these clippers have the nail guard always be aware and alert and be sure not to clip to short or too far and hit the nails quick, that will cause pain to your pet and bleeding. If you do not feel comfortable clipping your pets nails that is ok, have a professional do it so it can get done properly and safely. If you or your pet is too nervous you could accidentally clip a toe.
