The Seekers wanted to use the newest Host (Melanie Stryder) to insert an experienced Sole (Wanderer) so that they could get information on the humans that were remaining. The transition for host and sole did not go as usual, Melanie put up memory blocks that Wanderer was not use to. Finally finding the secrets that Melanie tried hard to keep, Wanderer began to understand her resistance. They worked together to find Melanie's family, then again to try and convince everyone to believe them.
*****5 I had enjoyed the Twilight Saga, this one had mixed reviews, I needed to read it for myself. This is...
review »My husband gave The Host me as a Christmas gift...I read it before our vacation was over.
In the beginning it was a bit confusing as to what was going on but if you just keep going the story eventually explains things making the first part more understandable. It's one that can and should be read twice in a row! I do understand the reason behind the confusion in the beginning...the main character is confused, so how could she possibly describe what's happening when she's not so sure herself? After the main character becomes more accustomed to her new life things start making real progress.
Wanderer...
review »Stephenie Meyers first book for adult readers gets off to a very slow start. Mrs. Meyers goes to great pains to really develop the main characters in The Host, and the readers will really appreciate this background as the story really takes off. The chapters are relatively short, that is appealing for a quick nighttime read and I thought she didn't close each chapter with that "I can't stop reading now...I have to know what happens next" feeling that really captured me in her Twilight series. Once she has fully established her characters and the action begins, the book is harder to put down...
review »Well what can I say but "She did it again!" Yet another great book by Miss Meyers. Only this time she takes an alien being and makes it perhaps MORE human than most humans! I found myself captivated by this book and turning pages throughout the wee hours of the night just to see where her plot was going to take the story next.
The story was different and refreshingly so. I am just curious to know if she will follow with more or let the story lay as it is, because sometimes it's nice to just have a story told in one book and be done with it, ( just MY personal...
review »it was the best book i have ever read! I would recommend this book to any girl, any age. Its definitely a chick flick but its got some really good action parts. It will keep you reading all day I wound up reading half the book in the bookstore!
I picked up The Host even though I'm not the biggest fan of Meyer's Twilight series because my best friend, a teen librarian, suggested it. I was about 100 pages in, wondering why so many people were raving about it, when all of a sudden, I understood the plot, it picked up, and I couldn't put it back down until I finished it at 3am! The characters pull you in with their emotions and feelings about what is going on on Earth, and you have a hard time hating the characters! The plot is science fiction, but for all those that believe we are not alone in this universe, it could happen! The ending...
review »i love this book it kept me reading all day and night! if you havent read this or the twilight seiries you need to go get them!
"The Host" is a very good read. Stephanie Meyer doesn't just write vampire books for teens. This book is about the world being "taken" over by aliens. They have no body so they just recyle humans. The story is a little slow at times but it does draw you in. This story is about an alien taking over one of the last humans free and finding out that the "human" refuses to allow the "alien" full control. There is a lot of "mind" talk but you wait very impatiently to find out who "wins" this battle. You start to feel for both the "alien" and the "human" and don't want either to lose. ...
