A couple of months ago when my then very pregnant daughter and son-in-law visited us here in Boca Raton, my son-in-law asked if we minded if he watched a show on TV that night.  Well who am I to say no?  I mean after all he is the father of my then soon to be born grand daughter Sofia, right?  Have I told you just how cute she is? Okay, Okay, I know I'm just one more bragging grandpa.  Grandpa?  How can that be? Oops, I digress.

"So Peter, what's this show about?  King Crab fishermen on the Bering Sea?  Yes, I can hardly wait." (Stifles yawn).

It's Tuesday night and it's 9PM and we tune in...

As my wife will most surely attest, I will watch anything on the small screen at least once. But if it fails to entertain, the program is history.  Recently the Discovery Channels' fourth season of The Deadliest Catch about Alaskan crab fishing in the unforgivable Bearing Sea wrapped up.  I missed season's one and two, but thanks to the magic of TiVo, I was able to "catch" the last two seasons.

The Deadliest Catch which premiered on the Discovery Channel in April 2005 and is currently seen in over 150 countries is a documentary-style series that follows the five month Alaskan King crab...

Oh Deadliest Catch, what have you done? Is it Mike Rowe's soothing voice? Is it the allure of the sea? It's just not logical - in every episode, the EXACT SAME THING happens. Men go out on a crab boat into the freezing cold waters in between Alaska and Russia - and they throw giant cages into the water in the hopes of catching crab to make millions in only a few weeks. But every episode is more intriguing than the last, and whenever there is a Deadliest Catch marathon, I can't pull myself away. I forget to eat. To bathe. To move.

Maybe it's that you think you're learning something while you're...

I avoided 'The Deadliest Catch' at first, but one day there was nothing else on. I ended up watching several episodes that day and watch it now when it's on. I won't say i like everyone on the show, there are some people that could learn from others and I don't just mean how ro work.
This, as a reality type show, is much better than any 'Survivor' or the other so-called reality shows.
It doesn't hurt to have that wonderful narrator, Mike Rowe (North America narrator).

Somehow this show captures your attention and you watch and watch.  I don't watch Idol or Survivor, but this show has reality down and gives you something new everytime. Great family watching where those others shows have to scare you if you let the kids watch.

Yes!  It's my husband's fault that I watch this show!  I love the Deadliest Catch!  My husband was watching it one night when I came home from work, and I've been watching ever since.  This show really gives insight as to what life on the sea is actually like.  I've gained a whole new respect for where some of my favorite foods come from!  These guys work really hard.  The work is exhausting and deadly.  I have a great deal of respect for these men that put their lives on the line day after day.  Deadliest Catch shows a bunch of men that really know how to pull together during rough, dangerous...

Deadliest Catch:

One thing about this show that I enjoy is that it is fun to watch. Not to mention seeing all the crabs they catch and just watching how the guys are. But also one thing with this show is that it gives you heads up to just how it is out in the Bering Sea and it gives you heads up to just how violent the weather can be. But just like it's name Deadliest Catch, it is also the deadliest job in the world because when you fall in to the Bering Sea in a matter of minutes you can just die! It also shows us just what these guys go through and all the pain and hard work they endure during...

About crab fishing in Alaska,  I have relatives who are fishermen  and they work at

all the jobs,  cleaning fish,  cleaning and repairing nets, packing, and moving off ship

and onto delivery vehicles.  The family has lived in Alaska since the 1930's and also

have a Dairy farm in the Matanuksa Valley.

The Deadliest Catch is the most exciting TV show I've ever watched. It makes you feel as if you're fishing in frigid weather with the deckhands. This show is realistic, fun, informative, and riviting. I like the fishing stragedy and it's interesting to find out how much money each make for risking their lives for a few short weeks.

The Deadliest Catch is a slow going show but catchy like a mini soap opera when you get to the captains and crews from the different boats that the show tracks.  Awesome footage is filmed and the adventure of each trip out at sea is different with not knowing what is around the corner.

Love the show. Edge of your seat action- maybe I can get my husband a job. The pay is great. I can't imagine being on those boats. Lots of curses that are bleeped out. Some of the crew members are really mean to others. Put the kids to bed, grab a snack and enjoy!

This is a show that my husband and I enjoy together.  Even when he is working out of town we can both watch it and talk about it later.  It keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering who will bring in the biggest haul and will any boats go down.

This show is very addictive to watch. I love it. I do feel that the little ones need not be in the room for it though. The show does block out the foul language but being the fact that it is a show about all guys and what guys do.

I love this show but I must admit that during the season when Mike Rowe wasn't narrating, I stopped watching.  As good as the show is, it's really not quite the same w/o Mike Rowe's voice and style.  Great show tho.
