Saving Shelter Pets is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to addressing the problem of pet overpopulation. They have a number of programs, including rescue from kill shelters and transport, Puppy Promises - which keeps unwanted litters out of the shelters, and brings the puppies to homes, as well as spaying the mother dog to prevent future unwanted litters, and their spay/neuter program, which to date has been working in Ohio and Georgia. They have saved thousands of animals so far, and prevented many, many thousands of future unwanted animals from being born. The only negative thing I can say is that not enough people know about SSP and support them - they need more volunteers, more people spreading the word about them. They are a small group, making a BIG difference. I love SSP!!
