There is not a huge difference in the nutritional value between rats or mice but one or the other is a must. I prefer frozen because live food can attack and harm the snake. It can also teach a snake to hunt and can pose a threat to you when handling your snake. Some snakes prefer male mice to females and some wont touch all white mice. Some snakes wont touch dead food at all. It depends on the snake.... They rarely ever bite and they dont get as large as other pythons. Theyre only down fall in my opinion is they can be picky eaters. As long as one does all the research before getting a ball python and knows all their needs then they make a very simple fun pet.... Their dogs remove this little white piece of plastic quite easily and then proceed to eat it. 5 stars for the kong flyer with out the rim :)...
