vegbeauti says "Heresay that Sounds Intelligent." about Wikipedia.com

The site can be helpful and can point you to valid references. It's not reputable, most teachers don't accept citiations from it. I taught two courses and explicitly said not to use it. It can make students lazy and libraries useless. It's an impediment to student skill building. But, during a storm or otherwise crummy situation, it's a nice last resort. You can find information on things not found in the library, such as people and incidents over the last few days or who otherwise would not be cited in something in a...

vegbeauti says "Cute little thing, nothing fancy or powerful." about Chevrolet Cobalt - 2007

I bought this in July instead of an Ion. I can't yet afford the sports car I want, so this is to raise my credit while I save up enough to get the car I really want. Mind you, I drove a V8 Camaro for 6.5 years. The Cobalt is cute and not slow, but certainly nowhere near fast either. The gas mileage is at least decent. The oil life is almost twice as long as my friend's 2007 Civic. If a car going twice as fast as you is about to smash into you, you probably won't have the power necessary to get the heck out of the way, and you had better hope you left you airbag on! Yeah, that's right - these turn off! If you unplug your battery, they are automatically set to off when you turn the car back on, and I haven't yet figured out how to turn it back on. Another annoyance is that the air vents tighten into place when you run the AC, so you had better have them in the right position before you turn the AC on because that is where they'll...

vegbeauti says "It makes a mess, but the birds go nuts." about Kaytee Spray Millet

This stuff will be all over the place, and the seeds are too small to pick up with anything but a high powered vaccuum. The birds will eat it all immediately. I sometimes worry that the leftover stick could poke them in the eye. I once got a bird that flew away to fly back onto the cage by bringing the cage outside and putting millet on...

vegbeauti says "Dirty, Shady Shopping." about Tijuana, Mexico

You will laugh your butt off here and have fun bartering for dirt cheap prices on all kinds of junk. You can get knock-off Gucci and Prada for 5-10 bucks while you are drunk in public and are smoking in all of the stores. People worry about getting out and shady things happening. It depends on the...

vegbeauti says "Come freeze to Death" about Duluth, MN

This city is wickedly freezing most of the year. The 2000 census reports it is 94% caucasian. There's one good college, and there's good conversation at coffeeshops with strangers, if you're into getting some frostbite on the way there and probably not encountering any...

vegbeauti says "Lots to do, everyone wants your money." about san diego

I go to San Diego 1-4 times per year. There are a lot of homeless, even in unusual spots, such as off the offramps of the freeways away from downtown. The city is going broke, and you will find fees for strange things, and the parking is as expensive as Manhatten. But, you can spend a week there and not do everything you wanted to do. Mexico is minutes...
