vangoghskies says "Nothing but clumps!!!" about Maybelline Define-A-Lash Mascara

I have what you might call an addiction to beauty products, especially mascara. I've got my two favorites (one for day and one for night), but I'm always looking to try something new. This was one of those times that I really regretted it. The snappy packaging and sales pitch totally drew me in, I'll admit it. But once i tried it, I was SO disappointed. My lashes looked like spiders, in a bad way. Clumps, Clumps, Clumps. Not even my metal lash comb could get through them- I just had to wash it off and start over with my usual brand. An unsuccessful foray into trying new things. I passed the mascara off to my mom the next time I saw her, and she had the same complaint. After that, we just tossed it. Save your cash- this is one product that doesn't deliver on its...

vangoghskies says "Live Jazz. Great Drinks. Delicious Food and Dessert." about Steamer's Jazz Cafe - Fullerton, CA

This is my favorite place- and I couldn't help but write it up- I'm constanly recommending it! Steamer's Jazz Cafe is a local favorite in Fullerton, California. The venue features live jazz, blues, swing, or big band seven days a week. Bands usually do 2-3 sets of an hour each. Its on the smallish side, so you need to call ahead for reservations to get the best table possible. They have amazing drinks (try the Key Lime Martini- it's to die for!), and a decadent dessert tray. They also serve yummy bistro style food, but I usually end up going for drinks and a dessert (or two). Check out the calendar of who's playing at steamerscafe.com, and have a...

vangoghskies says "The best diet soda ever" about Coke - Zero

Over the years, I've tried almost every diet soda on the market. I'm not at all brand loyal- if there's no sugar, I'll buy it. But now I think twice- and always end up with Coke ZERO. It's simply the most delicious diet soda on the market. I didn't realize that I had gotten used to that "diet aftertaste" over the years, and its so refreshing that Coke ZERO doesn't have it. Even my sworn Coca Cola classic drinking friends love it. I've got my mom hooked too- it's simply the yummiest soda. I have tried the other flavors (and they're pretty delicious), but I usually end up squeezing fresh lemon into it if I want some flavor....

vangoghskies says "Straightened Up Even My Kinky Hair" about Sunsilk Straightening Shampoo & Conditioner

I got a sample of Sunsilk Straightening Shampoo and Conditioner in the mail recently, and put off using it for the longest time- I'm soooo used to new hair care products disappointing me. I finally got around to using it on a day that I knew I'd be staying in (just in case it turned out badly), and was so pleasantly surprised. I cannot believe that a drugstore brand gave me sush serious salon-quality results. It straightened up even my kinky frizzy hair, and gave me a good dose of shine to boot. And it wasn't heavy like a lot of the straightening shampoos/conditioners are. Try the straightening creme in the line, too- it's fabulous. I am NEVER laying down $20 for a salon brand straightening creme again! The products smell yummy,...

vangoghskies says "A big education in a small town" about Humboldt State University

I graduated from Humboldt State in May of 2007, and could not be happier with the education I recieved. I earned a degree in Molecular Biology- and came out with not only the book knowledge, but practical skills to use in my chosen field. The best part of the university is the small class sizes. A lot of my junior and senior laboratory classes had about 12 students or less. It was a great feeling to walk into class and have the teacher recognize you not just by name, but know your story and your areas of interest. In the realm of public universities, it's simply the best. Aside from being an great school, it's located in an AMAZING area. Nestled among the redwood forests, and right on the coast, there is something for everyone. The only drawback is the rain- be prepared for it to be a bit chilly and rainy in the winter... thats how the redwoods grow so high! All in all, a great education for a small price tag, in one of the most beautiful areas of the earth. Take a look at it at...
