urbantwang says "Keep the green, Why bother upgrading to Gold for $150 a year? " about American Express - Preferred Rewards Green Card

I've had my American Express Green Card for 10+ years. It works fine for the small stuff I buy when I don't have cash.

I am constantly getting phone calls & paper junk mail requesting I upgrade to a Gold or Platinum or whatever. My question is WHY?

Just so they charge me an extra $100+ a year for an annual fee for services I would never use -so it is pointless.

If you're considering getting an American Express, get the green and stick with it. I've never been impressed by someone pulling out a Gold Card. Nobody is impressed by that so don't bother upgrading unless you have a business account & your work pays for that increased annual fee.

The telemarketers that will call you will actually say ..."Oh, people will think you're important when you pull out an Amex Gold" NO THEY WON'T..ridiculous. I think most people will just be glad you paid a bill.

Keep in mind, Most businesses are starting to reject American Express. Many stores & restaurants will no longer accept it for payment. That......

urbantwang says "They just jacked up EVERYONE'S interest rate...good bye" about American Express - Blue

Amex Blue - jacking up everyone's interest rate.

If you have the American Express Blue card READ the last page of your statement. They have just issued a notice to you and all card holders....the rates are going up.
Regardless of your good standing or excellent credit rating...you're about to be charged more if you have a balance.

I'm done with this card. I'll use it once a year to keep my account open, but otherwise there is no benefit to using it. Sorry.
...

urbantwang says "Use this to earn CASH at Disney but PAY IT OFF" about Chase - Disney Rewards Visa Card

The Disney Rewards Visa works great if you use it correctly.

The standard interest rate on this card is very high - but you can earn big bucks towards a trip to Disney World. As long as you pay off the card each month before interest is calculated, you should be okay.
I never let a balance sit for more than 10 days before I pay it off. I'm usually sending a check before the charge hits the card. Stay on top of this bill and you can get free money for Disney World.
You'll get ONE dollar for every 100 dollars spent. We use it to pay our monthly utilities, gas & groceries.

Keep in mind you also get 6 months of 0% interest on your Disney vacation.

(but certain restrictions apply to that...for example: you must stay overnight at least 1 night at a Disney Resort and buy a minimum of 1 day magic your way ticket for each member of your party)

NOTE: If you're already a rewards card member don't take advantage of that 5 dollars for the price of 1 dollar earned deal. It looks like you're making more,......
