ummzayb says "Thoroughly enjoyed it!" about P.S. I Love You (the book)

PS, I Love You, by Cecelia Ahern is one of the best books I've read lately. have yet to see the recently released movie, but I doubt it will be able to live up to its counterpart (the book). It was sweet, sad, funny and real. I am a fan of different cultures as well and the hilarity of these Irish characters carries the story to the end. — The familiar sounding title of the book caught my eye in the library one day and once I read the jacket I realized I'd heard of the movie and wanted to see it. I hadn't known it was based on a book... — I'm not sure of when the book was published but I can say that as a young author, Cecelia Ahern did an excellent job. — ...

ummzayb says "It was a cute movie." about Alvin and the Chipmunks

Needless to say, I loved the Chipmunk's cartoon and was awaiting the DVD release of the movie. I wouldn't say it was disappointing, as movies these days aren't what they used to be anyway. — I watched Alvin & the Chipmunk's with my 23 month old, of course she didn't stick it out for the whole movie, which was fine by me. It was cleaner than I thought it would be, but I think Jason Lee was a bit 'corny' as Dave. I appreciated the director's commentary explaining how the original cartoon came about and how they tried to maintain the Chipmunks in their originality as much as possible. — Otherwise, I don't have much to complain about. I think this movie was a wholesome blast from the past that we all wanted. —...

ummzayb says "Mixed feelings, so far" about State Farm

My husband and I have vehicle insurance with State Farm and when we first signed up it seemed rather high. We've got an SUV (I know this will raise the price) but it's just us two drivers and we're paying almost $200 per month in insurance. We didn't actually "choose" State Farm- just went with them because we could be added on to his sister's policy at the time. As soon as I heard the price I said 'we've got to do some quotes' -alas, I have yet to do so. My husband's neutral on the matter but he'll thank me when I find us a better rate... — I have to agree with a review that I read here; firstly, they will spam you to death! In just the first couple of weeks I had already received several mailings from them, and almost threw out a statement thinking that it was more junk mail. Secondly, they seem to have lots of mistakes with payment & paperwork issues. The day after we made our 1st payment someone called to tell us our policy had been cancelled...turns out she didn't...

ummzayb says "Funny, though I don't know why Travolta was cast as the wife." about Hairspray

This movie has an all star cast, including John Travolta, John Voigt, Queen Latifa, and others. It was definitely funny, but at the same time just a tiny bit off putting (to me personally). If you don't already know, it's got to do with race issues in the 60's...once the children in the movie finally get rid of 'Negro day' on their favorite television show and it becomes integrated, all of the black girls somehow become provocative. This bothered me somewhat, as all of the black dancers/singers were loud, flashy and again, provocative. Otherwise though, it was a good film and worth watching if you don't let things like that get to you. Loved the cast and the soundtrack! —...

ummzayb says "Great Movie!" about The Bourne Ultimatum

The Bourne Ultimatum (the whole trilogy) was excellent! I'm glad they did the movies because although the story is good, the books were slow reading for me (too much detail I think). The action scenes were good, not unrealistic. I think the plot was also easier to follow than the first movie (The Bourne Identity). I was slightly disappointed with the ending - we know he's alive, are they going to try another movie and ruin it, or just leave it at that? This is a movie I'd recommend, buy & watch again. —...

ummzayb says "Funny, though I didn't see what the need for a movie was." about The Simpsons Movie

I am not a connesiuer (sp.) of The Simpsons, but the movie wasn't too bad. It was definitely funny but I wouldn't watch it with young children, unless you don't mind the ocassional crass humor. I tried to keep my 18 month old distracted; she was of course very interested in imitating any exclamations or violent behavior. — They did keep true to the Simpson's without totally turning me off. Good job. —...

ummzayb says "Target is an inexpensive, fun place to shop." about Target Stores

I love Target, I go in to browse even when I'm broke! The colors are vibrant and lively; If someone gave me a Target shopping spree I'd have to get something from each department. They've always got cute & useful items in "The 1 spot". I've become used to shopping at Wal Mart for their 'low low prices', thinking everyone else is higher (wrong). Target's prices run pretty much the same as Wal Mart's, if not cheaper. This I rediscovered recently when I had to run in and get some diapers. I like Luvs but I assumed that they'd be a little expensive here - au contraire - they're 6.99 @ Target and $7.97 in Wal Mart(!) They've also got a good quality 1gB SD card (or memory card or flash disk/flash card) for 19.99 whereas WalMart sells a 215MB (basically half the space you'd get w/ a 1GB card) for $17.95 or something. Just a lesson in remembering to compare prices... TARGET...

ummzayb says "Great Office, Nice Staff" about Drs. Michelle Harmon, DMD & Brandi Owensby, DMD - Athens Dentistry for CHildren - Athens, GA

I took my daughter to Dr. Owensby for the first time in August of this year and loved it. The office is in a very professional building; the atmoshphere inside is friendly and easygoing. There's an area set aside in the waiting room for the kids to play, with 2 video game consoles. This may not appeal to some parents I know, but for others I'm sure it's great. The staff were all very helpful and did not broadcast our info accross the office (this is something that has happened to me on several occasions and I find it unneccessary & offensive). Also, they accepted our insurance. I even loved the bathrooms - if you go, check them out!...

ummzayb says "Love this store; they are the best for off-season shopping." about The Children's Place

I buy almost all of my daughter's clothes at this outlet. If I had a son I'd shop here for him too...the boys clothes are just as adorable as the girls! You can shop for kids all the way up to age 10 @ least (not sure how high there sizes go but my 9 year old nephew wears their clothes). Their sales are the best, and I've even been tempted to get some things @ regular price, the clothes are so cute! The babies' sizes tend to run small if you have a large child (like me); I usually have to buy the next size up, i.e. when she was 12 months I was buying 18 months clothing for her. All in all, it's a great place to shop....
