turtle6554 says "Steer Clear" about Uniden - 4 Handset Bundle 2.4 digital

When I decided to make the leap to Vonage, which is VOIP (that's voice over internet for the acronym challenged), I decided to get a new set of cordless phones because my existing model was older and I couldn't add handsets to it.

Because voice mail is a standard part of Vonage you don't need an answering machine on your phones and it was difficult to find several handsets w/o the answering machine feature. After searching, I finally found the Uniden 4 handset bundle. It had many attractive features that appealed to me, such as the speakerphone option on each handset, personalized ringers, visual ring indicator to mention a few.

Well, I've had the phones a little over a year and already the scroll button on all 4 handsets no longer works. This is very unhandy when you're trying to see who has called or when you're trying to find a number in your directory....no, it's aggravating!!!!

Then I remembered that I had another Uniden phone several years ago and determined I wouldn't buy another...
...

turtle6554 says "Whether you're 4 or 40" about Air Hogs

Got Air Hogs for my 4 year old grandson and my 30 year old son for Christmas.

Both "boys" had a blast with them, but the 4 yr old was soon flying circles around his uncle ! If you've ever used a remote to control any type of vehicle, you're in business.

These planes look very fragile, but are surprisingly durable. We had many crash landings and flew into walls, people, etc without mishap.

The directions are rather detailed and lengthy, but as with most of the male species, they didn't bother to read them. It does require 2 AA batteries even tho the package states that batteries are uncluded. What they mean is the rechargable battery in the plane itself.

The plane only flies about 5 min before needing to be recharged. A handy green light indicates when charging is complete.
...

turtle6554 says "Stumped for a gift this season ? Here's a great idea!! " about Radica 20 Questions Handheld Game

Looking for a neat stocking stuffer? Gift for a co-worker? Fun, inexpensive, easy to operate toy with no pieces to lose? Something that Grandma and/or Grandpa doesn't have & will enjoy? Something that crazy Uncle Harry will never forget?

20Q is the answer!

This electronic version of 20 Questions will freak you out. Our entire family (ages 5-"older than dirt") played with it and tried to think of very obscure things that "never" could be guessed. Well, guess what? It got us every time. We even started writing things on paper because we were sure it must have a tiny microphone somewhere in the toy that was listening to us. (smile) You begin to think that it can, actually read your mind.

Even a child who cannot yet read could play by choosing something and having another read the questions to him.

Another bonus, 20 Q comes with 2 AAA batteries installed and as yet, we have not had to replace them.

This one was purchased at Target for $9.98. Make sure to purchase one for yourself.
...

turtle6554 says "I can hear you now !" about GN Netcom Jabra BT125 Wireless Headset

With my job, I'm in & out of my car all day long. I have to catch up on phone calls while I'm driving but want to do so as safely as possible.

I used the earbuds until I got my Jabra Bluetooth- wow, what a difference. I hate "thingies" in my ears, but I can't even tell I'm wearing the Jabra. It is so comfortable that I actually came home one evening and forgot to take it off. I realized it when I tried to scratch my ear!

I also like the small size as I don't want to look a phone operator who has forgotten to take of her headset!

Even though it is small, the sound quality is great and there is a convenient button on the side of the earpiece where you can control volume. The party on the other end can hear you clearly even though the device is not near your mouth. I don't recommend trying to talk outside with the wind blowing, however. It's very loud and annoying to the person you're talking to.

If your phone is enabled, Jabra voice dials easily and again saves you from fiddling with your...
...

turtle6554 says "Should have bought it sooner!" about Garmin - StreetPilot c320

Have had mine for a year and wonder how I ever got along w/o it. Because the suction cup doesn't stick, I put mine in my cup holder in center console. This is actually better because it's not so obvious and less likely to be stolen.

It has so many features that are not mentioned in the basic set up manual that comes with it. Be sure to download the full manual. Can save your favorite places, go back to recent selections w/o retyping, and find many things just by typing in the name.

While the unit is very reasonably priced, it cost me $75 to update the maps.
...
