turtle4592 says "Our new kittens love the mice." about Hartz fuzzy mices

We recently adopted two kittens and needed some entertainment for them. So when I went shopping for the kitty basics I picked up a 3 pack of Hartz Mice. Once we got the kittens home and they calmed down enough to come out of hiding we started playing with them using the mice. I can honestly say that I had as much fun watching them as the kittens did playing.

Our tabby,Bella, is the most rambunctious kitten ever and will spend hours attacking and throwing the mice all over the house. Her brother, Jasper, isn't as playful but he gets in his share of stalking and clawing the mice. We eventually lost a couple of the mice somewhere in the house as they are small (you know, mouse sized) but they are plenty affordable so we try to pick up an extra pack when we are running by a Walmart or Target so the kittens can stay entertained for hours.
...

turtle4592 says "Great website for people who love to party!" about HouseParty.com

Houseparty.com is a wonderful site that allows you to apply to host parties thrown by different companies. The idea is to get people to host a party and invite all your friends. Various companies then supply you with samples and/or products that you use to host your party and give to your attendees. Therefore, they get their products into the hands of lots of people while you get to party with your friends.

There are new parties advertised regularly and you simply apply on-line and wait. Once the party date nears you either get an email that you were picked as a hostess or not. I recently hosted the Green Works Kid's Clothing Swap and received a box full of samples of Green Works detergent, cleaning wipes, seed packets, Burt's Bees chapstick, lotion and coupons. I made up little goodie bags and passed them out to all of my guest and everyone loved it.

Now you might not be picked for everything you sign up for I tend to apply for everything that interest me. Even if I'm not sure it's something...
...

turtle4592 says "Great game console for the whole family. " about Nintendo Wii Console

We just bought my daughter the Nintendo Wii game console for her 11th birthday and we love it. Right now we only have a few games, mostly sports, but we all already have our favorites. The console itself was easy to install and setup and very easy to learn to use. We have made a Mii, your personal character when you play the games, for everyone in the family and a few of my daughter's friends. We love how you can change everything about your Mii to make it look like you: face shape, hair, weight, height, etc.

I have never been a huge game console fan. We have had many other ones before the Wii and I was never very interested until now. I could spend all day golfing and when we boxed each other I was actually breathing hard afterwards. If you really try to do the games the way you would in real life and don't cheat, like my husband, you could use this piece of equipment as an added daily exercise. I'm not saying I would stop going to the gym because I now have the Wii; but, I could easily...
...

turtle4592 says "The best deodorant I have ever used!" about Secret Platinum Clear Gel Scent Expressions Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant Vanilla Chai

My long search for the perfect deodorant has ended thanks to my ten year old daughter. I was told one day that her friend had a deodorant that smelled like vanilla coffee and she wanted to try it. So off to the store we went in search of the beverage scented deodorant. Once there we searched the shelves until we found the one she was looking for which just happened to be Secret Platinum Clear Gel Scent Expressions Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant Vanilla Chai. (Long name but so worth it.)

I must admit that this brand was a little more than I would normally pay but if I can get my ten year old to not smell like a ten year old after playing outside all day I will gladly pay for it. I loved the scent right away. It was noticably more vanilla than coffee but I could see where she got her decribtion from. I happened to try it when I stopped using one brand because it wasn't working for me and decided to try the Secret brand since my daughter seemed to love it so much.

turtle4592 says "Great scent but didn't last all day." about Dove Ultimate Clear Deodorant

Living in south Florida is not easy. Not only is it HOT most of the year but you pretty much live in tank tops and everyone can see your underarms. I am also a very "must smell good" person. I know, who isn't right? So I have tried many different brands of no white stuff deodorant and Dove Ultimate Clear was one of them.

I was impressed with the scent when I was looking for a new brand in the store and I love the whole ultimate clear idea so I went ahead and picked it up. The deodorant went on great and smelled great but after it dries it is not clear. I showed up at work with a very unclear white mark on my shirt which I had to then wash off. This of course left a very noticeable wet spot on my shirt.

As for actually working as a deodorant it wasn't my favorite either. I could tell that on a busy day when I was running around it wasn't really doing it's job. And I am not a stinky person by nature so this was not something I enjoyed. In the end I actually stopped using the Dove Ultimate...
...

After hosting and attending a multitude of parties with lots of different dips, salsa and snacks the idea of using Tostidos Scoops once again was looking most unpleasant. So, for my husband's recent birthday party I decided to search for something different to use with at least one of the dips we would have available to our guest.

After spending close to 20 minutes searching the shelves of Super Target's chip aisle I finally decided on Fristo Lays Scoops. We decided to use them with our Roasted Pepper Hummus and I have to say they were a big hit.

The bag they come in is pretty small so you will need at least two (trust me I can eat one bag by myself). The Scoops are quite large and hold dip really well, although we did notice that a lot of them are curled and that makes it hard to scoop. I will not hold this against Fristo Lay because it would probably require them to add another employee just to pick out the curled ones. Scoops go very well with hummus because they are corn chips and...
...

I have been using Mary Kay moisturizer for a while and liked the product but did not like how I had to purchase it. I either had to find my Mary Kay rep and place an order or try to get it on Ebay. Both of which take a while for me to get my replacement bottle of moisturizer. I have grown tired of trying to time my purchase with when my current stash will run out so I decided to look for a new product. That is how I found Olay Complete All Day Moisture Lotion.

After asking some friends what brand they used the majority said Olay. I visited their website and found that they actually have a program where they ask you questions about your skin and then give you suggestions on what Olay products would be best. I found this really helpful because I was not looking forward to standing in the skin care aisle trying to read labels on twenty different bottle while my ten year old is standing beside me asking me how much longer I was going to take. I was able to quickly find the moisturizer the website...
...

Seeing how I LOVE Samoas Girl Scout Cookies I thought I would give the Edy's Slow Churned Girl Scout Samoas Cookie Ice Cream a try. This ice cream is only around once a year, from January through April according to the Edy's website, so I picked up a container during my weekly grocery trip.

According to the container the ice cream contains Girl Scouts Samoas® Cookies blended with SLOW CHURNED vanilla and caramel Ice Cream to give you the rich flavor and creamy texture of premium ice cream - all with 50% less fat and 30% fewer calories. Excited that I could eat ice cream and cookies all at once and have 50% less fat I jumped right in as soon as I got home.

Upon opening the lid I noticed that there was plenty of rich, creamy ice cream but appeared to be very few cookie pieces. I thought maybe the cookies would be deeper in the ice cream and not right at the top so I scooped out a bowl and started eatting. Even though the ice cream was very good; smooth, sweet and creamy, I was disappointed...
...

I heard about this Swap Style on a local radio station and decided to try it out. So far I love it.

Here's how it works: You clean out your closet of all the clothing, shoes, accessories, and misc. household items you no longer want. You build a profile on the site (it's free) where you list all of your items and post pictures. These are your swaps. You also make a wish list of the things you are looking for.

When someone sees something of yours that they like they contact you and ask you if you want to swap. You go to their profile and look at their swaps. If you find something of theirs you want you simply write back to them and offer your item for their item. Once everyone agrees you exchange addresses and ship out your things. (It works the same if you find something of some else's you want. You would contact them.)

There are people out there trying to take your things just like everywhere else. Swap Style has created a "Swaplifter" list where they have the screen names of known offenders....
...

I just got back from a wonderful girls-only trip to Epcot at Walt Disney World. We purposely planned this trip to coincide with the annual Food and Wine Festival. I'll tell you about the festival first.

Food and Wine Festival

There are over 20 countries represented including Australia, South Africa and New Zealand where you can sample a variety of foods and drinks including wine, beer, champagne and frozen drinks. Each country offers two or three different foods and anywhere from two to five different drink selections. They even pair some of the drinks with the foods so you can get the best experience when sampling. Be prepared for small portions though. You are only sampling the foods so they are mostly on small plates in appetizer form and some of the drinks come in small cups and are not full size. You can easily see the different prepared foods before you buy so don't worry about that.

The prices are what you would expect from Disney. Foods range from around $2.50 to $5.00 and drinks...
...

Living in Florida for the past five years we have had few opportunities to start fires. My husband isn't the most outdoorsy person around. His idea of hiking is spending the day walking around Outdoor World looking at all the camping supplies. Last year we bought a vacation home in Tennessee and it just happened to have a fireplace. Our first winter visit to the house was, of course, cold so we decided we were going to start a fire and enjoy a nice warm living room.

We would have been lost without the Pine Mountain Starter Loggs. I guess that I could have reached back to my Girl Scout days or we could have simply Goggled fire starting but this was so much easier. We bought the logs, put a couple in the fireplace with some firewood and lite the fire. That simple. The starter logs burned until the firewood eventually caught on and my husband felt like a real outdoorsman.

We bought a chiminia recently for the house in Florida and purchased the logs to use in it also.

After seeing that Dodge was bringing back the Challenger an keeping the old school muscle car look I told my husband that it was time to give up our comfortable six year old Ford Escape and buy me a new car. We waited and waited and finally saw the SRT8 show up at our local dealership so we stopped in to have a look.

This car is gorgeous inside and out but with a $41,000.00 price tag and only selling over sticker price (we were told around $63,000.00) it was a little out of our budget. So, I was very happy to hear that Dodge was producing two different models starting around $20,000.00. We were told at the dealership that it would probably be next year before they started showing up though.

Since we were near the dealership over the weekend and saw that they had some new Challengers in stock we stopped by just to look. You should have seen my face when the sticker read $28,000.00. We instantly went home to pick up the Ford and back to the dealership to start the all day car buying process....
...

So we waited and waited for them to show up in the dealerships and stopped by as soon as they arrived.

This car was beautifully updated while keeping the original body type. I loved that Dodge didn't redesign them as they had with the Challenger. The interior was comfortable and roomy and very pleasing to the eye. Equipped with a 6.1 liter V8 Hemi with 425 horsepower this car is bound to burn up the road. I loved that they offered them in Hemi Orange also.

We did not test drive the Challenger as the sticker price was $41,000.00 and we were told they were selling well over that at around $63,000.00. We did open it up and sit in it and get a good look around. I can't wait until they come out with the more affordable models. We will definitely be back to take a test drive then.
...

Panda Express has tasty, nice sized portions at a pretty good price. The menu consist of your common Chinese cuisine: white and fried rice, lo mien, beef and broccoli, Kung Pu Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Shrimp, etc. Either myself or a family member have tried many different dishes and they all seem to be tasty. Kung Pu Chicken seems to be the house favorite for us though. (We like spice)

Prices are good. You can get a Panda Bowl, which consist of a bowl filled with your choice of a side and topped with your choice of an entree, for around $5.00. This is a good size for a quick lunch and easy to eat stacked in the bowl. For dinner, a two or three entree dish are better options and they allow you to try multiple dishes at one time.

They also offer kids meal that come with a drink and cookie and larger portions if you are feeding a group or having a party.

In my family we are big time "our house needs to smell good people". We have a dog, a very big dog, and I am always afraid someone will come into our house and be able to smell our very big dog. For that reason we are frequent users of scented candles and oils and air fresheners, along with a large supply of doggie shampoo and cleaning products.

A few years ago I received the White Barn Wallflowers starter kit and a refill pack as a gift. We had never tried Wallflowers before so I took it straight home and plugged it in. Trying to figure out how to screw in the bottle of oil was a little challenging since our brains are wired to turn everything to the right and Wallflowers turn to the left. But after a little fumbling we managed to get everything attached and plugged in.

The house filled with the Cotton Blossom fragrance instantly and it could be smelled all over the house, even up stairs in the bedrooms.

I ordered the Avon Hydra Cool Bronzing Stick from a co-worker that had just started selling Avon. I had used Avon products before, liked them and thought this product looked interesting. The description in the catalog said it "goes on with a cooling sensation" and it was only $4.99 so I was all for trying it out.

When it arrived I was surprised to see that it was super small. I guess I should have paid attention to the .14 net weight listed in the description. I was a little bummed because of the size. I thought I would use it in a matter of a few weeks since I wear makeup every day to work.

The next morning I went to use it on my cheeks and, since it is in stick form, just swipped on a small streak across each check. I quickly found out why it is in such a small container. A little, tiny bit goes a long way. The two small streaks ended up being enough to cover my whole face. I was disappointed to find no cooling effect though. Either my cheeks are numb to feeling (I doubt this) or the...
...

turtle4592 says "Trendy, fashionable clothing at great prices. " about Forever 21

I love to dress in trendy clothing but being a mom and having two other people to also purchase clothing for I can't spend a fortune on myself. This is why I love Forever 21. They have both a brick and mortar store and an great on-line website where clothes can be purchased.

Forever 21 has a large selection of fashionable clothing with an ever changing variety and great, bright colors. Their prices are wonderful. I just purchased a pair of skinny jeans for $12.50, leggings for $4.50 (cheaper than Wal-mart prices in my area) and a really cute teal and black top for $13.50. The clothes are good quality and very cute.

The clothing does tend to run small with jeans going by sizes 25, 27, 29 instead of the normal 5,7,9. I would suggest actually visiting one of their stores and trying on the clothing so you can find your true size before you start buying on-line. This would prevent purchasing a shirt for you and it ending up fitting your daughter instead.

If you do decide to purchase...
...

turtle4592 says "One is okay and one is great. " about Weight Watchers - Cookies

I have been on Weight Watchers for almost a year now and have tried just about every product my local grocery stores carry. Some I liked, some I loved, and some, well, I just wasn't that impressed. The two WW cookies I have tried fall into two of these categories.

I love the WW oatmeal raisin cookies. They are sweet and soft and soooo good. Filled with raisins and with a touch of cinnamon I could eat the whole box if I allowed myself. Thank goodness I don't or that would defeat the purpose of only 1 point each.

Since I love the oatmeal raisin so much I wanted to try the chocolate chip also. I was a little disappointed that the chocolate chip cookie didn't taste much like a chocolate chip cookie to me. I understand that it's Weight Watchers and I wasn't expecting Toll House but I was expecting something more. It was sweet but not as sweet as I would have liked being chocolate chip.

I do love that they both comes individually wrapped and are just the right size to curb a craving without...
...

turtle4592 says "Quick and delicious option for lunch. " about Oscar Mayer Deli Creations

"What do you want for lunch today?"

"I don't know."

"Peanut butter and jelly?"

"I don't like peanut butter."

"Since when?!?"

Sound familiar? If it does you must have kids. This was pretty much a daily occurrence in my house when my daughter is in summer camp and taking her lunch everyday. One day she wants this and another day that. When we went grocery shopping after a very indecisive lunch week my daughter saw the Oscar Mayer Deli Creations in our stores lunch meat section and wanted to try them.

After careful deliberation we decided on the ranch and bacon chicken wrap. I made it for her in the morning to pack in her lunch and was impressed by how easy it was. You simply open the package and build your sandwich. Everything was included: wrap, meat, cheese, dressing. Then you microwave it for under a minute and you have a delicious lunch that is just big enough to fill you up. I wrap them in foil after microwaving and add them to my daughters lunch. She said it was still warm when she got...
...
