trippytom says "Ouch, that was painful." about Sears.com

Over two months, dozens of phone calls, and I am still waiting for the full refund. I ordered new appliances on Sears.com at the end of the year. It turns out the max width on the stove was greater than the online specifications noted and the dishwasher could not be side mounted. It took several painful phone calls to get someone to come and pick them up. I was first told I wouldn't be charged, then later on that I'd just have to pay a $70 fee. Then I waited and waited, finally calling Sears credit who said they would file a dispute on my behalf. After about 60 days, I got an email saying a credit (for most of what I paid) had been issued to my account. It turns out I had been charged a restocking fee. Now I am told it will be another 10 business days ... I guess we'll...

trippytom says "Great spot for a picnic." about The Eiffel Tower

I've been to Paris a handful of times and love the Eiffel Tower, talk about an icon. Though I don't recommend going up, time consuming and boring, the surrounding parc is great. Stop by at the neaby Rue Cler, best market in Paris, for some supplies (lots of interesting cheeses) and have a picnic on one of the lawns behind. — — Notice how many Parisians and how few tourists are doing the...

trippytom says "A PBS documentary gone horribly awry, but in a good way." about The Dancing Outlaw

I laughed until I cried, then nearly wet my pants. Then I showed it to anyone who would watch, over and over again. Like all great comedies, it only gets better with repeated viewings. — — Pour youself a stiff drink and enjoy! — — http://imdb.com/title/tt0101655/ —...

trippytom says "One awesome little laptop" about Apple MacBook Notebook

I never thought I would buy a Mac, ever. I heard some great reports from friends, and even noodled around a bit ... but it always seemed the price point was just too high for me to justify. — Then my laptop died right about the same time Vista came out. I wanted no part of that, and buying a laptop only to re-install XP on it seemed like a waste. I have a unix background and had been debating just putting Linux on a Dell or something, but couldn't find a comperable laptop (size wise) for the price, really. I paid $999 (MacMall) for the 2Ghz model with a small (60GB hard drive) and then bought 2GB of ram on eBay for $225. — I honestly have never been happier with a computer. It responsive, intuitive, and just plain nice to use. It almost never crashes or needs to be re-booted and my wireless network never disconnects anymore, ever. — Vive le Macbook! —...

trippytom says "The best espresso in Chicago, Intelligentsia can't compare" about Lavazza Espresso

Excellent drip and espresso drinks, I prefer a single or double espresso. If you want to compare coffees, you need to do it with the basics ... anyone can make a decent Mocha. I've shown the light and converted three pretty hard corps Intelligentsia fans. They also have a great Friday special, buy a bag of coffee or beans and get a free drink! — Checkout one of their following locations: — 111 W Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL — 134 N La Salle St, Chicago, IL — 125 S Prospect Ave, Elmhurst, IL —...
