trehahn says "Nice printer, not a large price" about Hewlett Packard OfficeJet L7555

This printer originally was purchased thinking it was the same as another, however I quickly pointed out it was not. The main difference, wireless. This one is not wireless, however it does have an ethernet connection so I wired it.

The first one we got seemed to be defective, paper kept jamming, it kept locking up and was VERY loud. Sams Club replaced it, and this one has been going strong since. We do still have some paper jams, but overall the printer has been dependable. It prints VERY fast, especially in draft mode. The colors are nice, crisp and clear.

It does have card readers built in, however I've not used them for photo printing. I do like the fact it has separate ink cartridges for each color, with a large one for black, which gets used the most. The ink is also reasonably priced, but can not get refilled at local places such as Walgreens, but you can find directions online to do it yourself, as well as replacement cartridges which are remanufactured.

If you're...
...

trehahn says "Nice low cost fridge" about Frigidaire FRT17G4BW

When we bought the place we're in, the fridge did not come with it. It was advertised with one, but there wasn't one. We checked Habitat For Humanity, in their reseller stores, but they didn't have one that would fit. We were left to find one, quick.

We went to about 3 or 4 stores, finally choosing Lowes due to a 10% off coupon for moving, and couldn't be happier both with Lowes, and the fridge.

The original fridge did have a dented door, however Lowes came out and replaced it free of charge. The fridge has been very nice looking and dependable. Very easy to clean as well.
...

trehahn says "Nice low cost laptop" about Hp G60-235DX Notebook PC

We got this laptop because it was on sale for a decent price. While I'm not thrilled with HP's customer service, their equipment is generally pretty dependable. This laptop has been no different.

It's been a pretty dependable machine, fairly fast and nice looking. Some comparably priced machines, like Acer, simply don't look or feel as nice. The HP (and Compaq) looks much nicer than comparable machines.

The sound level seems to be lower than the Gateway it replaced, but external speakers can fix that too. It's plenty loud enough for the average person.

You can't go wrong if you're looking for a low cost laptop for everyday use. This will not be a great gaming machine, but overall is a nice machine.
...

trehahn says "Nice microwave, good price." about Tappan TMV151FS

My wife and I wanted an over the range microwave, due to the lack of counter space in our new kitchen. My brother in law bought this one, an after Thanksgiving (black friday) sale and we couldn't be happier! This is a great unit for the price, works pretty well and is really nice looking. Fairly easy to hang too.

One thing I don't like, and is found in other microwaves, they give you a kitchen timer, however you can not use the timer, and microwave at the same time. This can be an issue if you set the timer, and then realize you need to use the microwave. Generally this isn't a huge issue though.

Bottom line, if you're looking for a nice, low cost over the range unit, this is a great choice.
...

trehahn says "Nice GPS for the money" about Garmin - Nuvi 255W

I bought the Nuvi 255W because it was on sale, though I wanted a different Nuvi model and they claimed to be out of stock on it (they were not) I bought the 2nd choice. The other model had traffic, this one does not, without the addition of an addon.

I'm very pleased with the GPS, it does a good job of getting me where I need to go. Like all GPS units out there, it sometimes will calculate a different path than you'd normally take, but since all of them do this, you can't blame Garmin for it.

It's very quick to recalculate and has clear voices. The addon voices are really fun too, such as Elfred, one of Santas Elves. We laugh everytime we use him! He can be downloaded from Garmin's website.

If you're looking for a good GPS, buy a Garmin. Garmin has long been a leader in GPS technology, and this unit does not let anyone down.
...

My wife bought one of these mixers for me for Christmas, Kitchen Aid by far has the best mixers around! They do cost more, but I think they're indestructable. They simply work and work well. Being a stand mixer you can set it and forget it, walk away it does it's thing and go back it's done. You simply can't go wrong with these mixers.
...

trehahn says "Nice point and shoot, small and light." about Kodak - C813 8.2 Megapixel Digital Camera

I bought this camera because of the price, I'll be honest. We already had a nice Canon point and shoot and have since bought a DSLR, but this was purchased because of price and the speed in taking the photo.

The Canon takes a little longer to focus, the Kodak is very fast. I wanted something small, light and quick focusing. We frequently use our point and shoot cameras for ghost hunting, so it's important that it be light. This camera fits the bill! I bought it for $70 on sale and couldn't be happier with it. The picture quality is comparable to other point and shoots, much higher priced. It takes the AA batteries, which makes it easy to recharge or replace the batteries. It also uses the SD cards, which others like the Sony's don't. SD cards are cheap, Pro Duo cards are not as cheap. Something to consider before buying.

If you want a low cost, durable point and shoot camera that will take nice pictures, this is a great choice. I bought my parents the C913, and my...
...

trehahn says "Great camera! Picture quality is simply amazing!" about Nikon - D60 Digital Camera

My wife last year mentioned she wanted to buy a nice camera, to get out and take some nice pictures. She wanted to take a photography class and take pictures as a hobby. I decided to buy her one for Christmas, and after researching many sites, many camera owners and anything else I could, I settled on the Nikons.

The only reason I bought the D60 was the price, the others were more expensive, with the exception of the D40 and D40x. The D40 does not have the options the D60 has, and is only 6 megapixel. If you're going to take the pictures, for the price buy the D60. Though the D40x is a 10 megapixel too, with fewer options than the D60 for close to the same price.

The Nikon D60 is great! The picture quality is simply amazing. I can shoot a picture across the yard, and see hairs on the face, the detail is awesome. I've had several people comment on the color, and quality of the pictures I took. The more I use this camera, the more in awe I am of it.

It's very easy to use,...
...

When I went to a different doctor, I told him I wanted to get healthy and lose weight. I had no money, since I was unemployed and my health was so bad I couldn't work, so programs were not an option, unless they were free.

Since weight loss programs are not free, it was determined I'd be doing it all on my own. He orinally put me on 1800 calories a day, then went to 1500 and said if I wanted to speed it up shoot for 1200 a day. Calculating the calories is a problem, but not with the Calorie King!

They have small and large books, I keep the small book in my vehicles, and my parents house, to calculate while away from home. Many of the places you'll eat are in there, so finding a low calorie option is easy. It will fit in your pocket, the information in there is great, very helpful.

The website has even more than the books, it's very easy to navigate, though searches can sometimes lead you to more than one option from the same place, and best of all it's free. I think I only paid...
...

trehahn says "Charter is terrible at best! Customer service? What service?" about Charter Communications

Since Charter Communications has the monopoly on the cable in the area's I grew up in, buying the smaller company who was there, we were forced to go with them. I had moved into an apartment, so I was unable to get a dish, and cable was our only option. Even over the air programming was not an option, I was too far from the towers, and half underground, for a picture you could rely on.

While we had few problems with the internet, it seem to be pretty reliable most of the time, the TV and phone is a different story. Not to mention the TERRIBLE customer service. The TV worked most of the time, but we did have issues and it was rare to ever get compensation for programming going out.

The Phone service, is not worth wasting your time on. It goes out frequently, and many can't afford regular land lines, and this phone, and in one area we lived, cell service was non existant, so you rely on whatever phone service you have. Sadly Charter comes up short in this category. Calling them...
...

trehahn says "DVR's slow and sometimes unresponsive" about Comcast - Cable Company

We decided about a year ago to get a DVR with Comcast. We didn't want to pay the extra, because it is an add on service that we pay monthly, but thought we'd give it a shot. We now record multiple shows, close to 80 year round, since many are on only certain times a year and we tend to forget about them.

At first we loved the service, it was great having our shows recorded, we could watch them without missing a beat, not to mention the ability to fast forward through commercials. Though for the last 8 months I've had many issues with the boxes becoming unresponsive, and had techs out. Each tech has claimed the boxes are junk, that Comcast Michigan just keeps recycling old boxes, which I believe since the last box was full of Movies, many of which were R rated, good thing I have no kids! The last couple times I requested a NEW box, not an old recycled box with hard drives known to go out, causing the problems I was having I'm told.

The one time they even brought an older box, which...
...

I got XM Radio for Christmas 2 years ago from my wife, who thought that was what I wanted. It couldn't have been farther from the truth! At that point I thought it was stupid to pay for radio, when I can get it free. Since she had invested in the equipment and service, I thought I'd give it a try and loved it!

You simply can't compare FM radio with XM. XM not only has so many more options, but it is by far much better quality, with few commercials. In larger cities they even have land based towers to supply you with a signal, where larger buildings may block your satelite signal.

When it comes to customer service, XM is second to none. Everytime I called I got someone who not only spoke english, but was very helpful and professional. When I called to cancel at first I was upset, thinking they were like AOL and would do everything but cancel my service, I found out just how great they are. Since I had been laid off and things were tight, they offered 3 months at $4.95 a month. ......

After losing my engineering job, and forced to work security I could no longer afford regular phone service, so I tried Tracfone. I've had a couple different phones and all have done great! I got my phones with minutes for less than $20. If you're looking for a cheap phone service, and you're an occasional phone user Tracfone is a great option! I've had signals, even when others haven't.

The customer service isn't the greatest, but then again this seems to be a trend in America today. Outsource our jobs to save money, and customer service seems to go downhill in the process.

Tracfone is a great choice for most phone users, the minutes have gone down, and even a longer winded talker can now get cheaper minutes. They don't have the coverage a nationwide service would, but for regional travelers you can't go wrong....

There was one other handheld but it had issues, the 396 replaced it. I chose the BCD396T over the Radio Shack and haven't regretted it a bit! Not only were they priced about the same, it comes with everything I need to program it myself. No buying extra cables, batteries, software etc. Not to mention the dynamic memory is far better than the old bank system! If you're looking for a good scanner, especially if your area may go digital anytime soon you want the Uniden BCD396T....

After reviewing many options for under $200 it was obvious we were going to buy Canon. The pictures of many of the Canon cameras were simply magnificent! The colors were great, not to mention the quality of the shots. After purchasing the Canon A570 IS we quickly realized just how happy we were, and others quickly noticed too! Others are planning to buy this camera now, after seeing our pictures. Many of the shots we take are at night, as we're into Paranormal Investigating so a good flash is a must! If you're looking for an all around easy camera to use, low cost but great pictures this is the one....
