tornadopat says "Craftsman LTS2000 19.5HP Riding Mower-Vrrrrrrm" about Craftsman Riding Lawn Mower

I purchased a Craftsman LTS2000 19.5HP 42" Riding Lawn Mower about a week ago and decided to wait until I had a chance to mow the lawn before writing this review. Durn you have to have rain and let the grass grow before getting on that machine. Well, let me tell you I even had to get on Sears.com and rave about the sales associate that helped me during the purchase negotiations. His name was Zacharias (and he was even training a young lady while helping me) and he was very helpful in explaining and answering all my questions since I always troddled along behind a push mower before this. I am sure if that young trainee paid attention she will be a great sales associate too. Well after a light rainfall and two days of sunshine to get the yard just right with cuttable grass, I ventured onto my new mower, started it up, put it in gear, lowered the blade and just had a ball cutting my yard. OH, I did have to stop occasionally to empty the bagger (which I purchased at the same time),......

tornadopat says "Sears Attic Fans keep on tickin" about Sears Attic Fan

As I visited the discussion boards this morning, I remembered I had to give Sears kudos on their attic fans. We purchased ours about 15-17 years ago and just like timex watches it just keeps on atickin'. Of course we have had yearly maintenance on it like a car, but have never had to buy parts or replace anything yet (knock on wood). It is a tremendouse energy saver as we do not need to turn on the air unless it gets to 80-85 degrees. We simply turn on the attic fan, open a couple of windows on the shaded side of the house and realize it is quite comfortable with the attic fan drawing the air through the house. I highly recommend those that want to save money to look into an attic fan for their home....

tornadopat says "A week's worth of fun" about Chattanooga Tennessee

Well I am about to Mike Maroon smile cause I want to review Chattanooga as a very special place to travel and have fun. I have actually stayed there three times now and it seems that I can find something new to do everytime I go there. A truly wonderful southern town with great hospitality, the finest aquarium complex that I have ever visited, civil war battlefields everywhere to visit, a cuisine that will make your mouth water, singing waiters and waitresses, old time railroad history, and so much more. As usual we stayed in a La Quinta Inn which is quite reasonable with a free breakfast. Three civil war battlefields are within minutes to include Chicamauga, Georgia; Missionary Ridge, and Lookout Mountain. Just these three alone will take at least two to three days to explore and take in all the sights and history. The only real expense will be Lookout Mountain where you can see several shows about the history and what happened during the civil war. Then on to the...
...

My wife and I often forego the monotony of traveling the interstates and get back to the US two lane highways for liesurely trips. Hence a trip on US 64 through southern Tennessee on our way to enjoy the sights of Chattanooga. Well it just so happened that just south of Savannah, Tennessee was the Civil War Battlefield of Shiloh!! Needless to say I was intrigued being retired military and a history buff. Using my old geezer National Park Pass which you can get at age 62 (otherwise they charge you a very nominal fee of about $4 per person), we stopped to sight see. It is both a walking tour and an auto tour. The walking tour takes you through the National Cemetary and several battle sites located near the cemetary. The auto tour which includes a very detailed map from the park office takes you around the entire battlefield. We spent and entire afternoon and part of the next morning to take in all the sites of Shiloh. The afternoon visit included the park office, a free......

tornadopat says "Friendly servers - well cooked food" about TGiFriday - Paducah, KY

My wife and I always stay in Paducah Kentucky on our way south when we travel. I have already written a review on the Holiday Inn Express in Paducah, but now it is time to review succulent food available at the TGiFriday in Paducah. We have gone to several places there to eat but henceforth the car automatically now steers itself to the TGiF whenever we stop there. The reason is the fantastic service available, a great bar which pours very fine drinks, excellent managers who take care of you and the food is delicious. I have never had bad food there and the price is reasonable. I get the baby back ribs and the wife gets her chicken something or another (darn if I can remember what it is called) but she loves it. I used to get several containers of their Jack Daniels sauce - but I recently received the recipe so I can make it myself now - it is to die for on ribs, chicken, pork, etc and easy to make. I think my wife was going to smack me last time as I called the manager over...
...

tornadopat says "Even good for old folks like me" about Disneyworld

Wow I couldn't believe it. I thought disneyworld was for younguns!!! But now this old fella believes it is for all. My wife and I had a great time at disneyworld with our 27 year old daughter and her boyfriend during the last week. Fortunately being retired military I was able to get a 5 day comp ticket free and paid $99 dollars per ticket for my wife, daughter and boyfriend for entry into the park. Disneyworld appreciates the sacrifices of veterans and current service members and therefore the reduced fee charge. I had read many reviews of Disneyworld that talked about long lines and pricey food which wasn't too good. Well yes the food is pricey however it is good, but I expected that in a theme park. Fortunately because we went in January the lines really weren't that long - The longest wait we had was about 50 minutes at Soarin at Epcot Centre which was well worth the wait!! Of course we were there during off season so it wasn't so bad. Animal Kingdom and Epcot were...
...

tornadopat says "One of the best" about Holiday Inn Express PADUCAH - Paducah, KY

My wife and I were traveling south to get away from the snow and cold of Kansas and reserved a room at the Paducah Kentucky Holiday Inn Express as we have stayed there before. After a long days drive we were greeted by the most friendly staff in the entire Holiday Inn system. This hotel is customer friendly, near all great restaurants in the area, extremely decorated for each season. I even sent in an evaluation to Holiday Inn on two employees that helped us with questions and service!! They have an agreement with a local golf course to practice hitting golf balls if you are a golfer. After a long day of traveling we went to TGI friday for dinner and returned to relax and were told that that evening we could eat chocolate chip cookies and have milk to relax in front of the tv as we wound down our day. I can truthfully say that the service is outstanding at this hotel!! So if you are in this area on your travel book it - you will enjoy it for sure....

tornadopat says "A wonderful stay" about La Quinta Inn Branson Music City Centre - Branson, MO

My wife and I stayed at the LaQuinta Inn during Veteran's Day week. It was clean, comfortable, on the main road with all the attractions and shows so easily accessible, and the morning breakfast was standard but ok. I would highly recommend any veteran go to Branson during this week. The hotel had a discount for veterans also. Prior to going I made reservations with the Branson Tour Center and received tremendous discounts or totally free shows for myself and some for my wife. Several restaurants were serving free meals for veterans also. They have a parade on Veterans Day which was quite entertaining for those that went. We had breakfast with Ollie North and several hundred other vets, but he was very enlightening and a great speaker. While there we were lucky enough to receive free tickets to Tony Orlando's Vets Day review. They are always free to vets, but when I asked about them earlier had been told it they had already been sold out. However, the sponsors for Ollie......

For anyone who lives in Eastern Kansas or Western Missouri and may not be a pro golfer or low handicapper should look into joining Greatlife Golf and Fitness. This company has eight golf courses and one reciprocal golf course that you can play for only $348 a year or $29 a month, whichever way you want to pay for it. The golf courses are located in Kansas City, Missouri; Kansas City, Kansas; Perry, Kansas; Topeka, Kansas, Manhattan, Kansas; and Abilene, Kansas. Most courses have fitness centers, swimming pools, snack bars, and a place to sit and relax with a beer or toddy after 18 holes. The fee includes all family members up to the age of 18 or if the kids go to college through 22 years of age. The golf courses are not PGA type courses but they are fun to play and very challenging. I have played on Hilton Head Island courses and Orlando Florida courses that are super but these courses will test your mettle and for the price can't be beat anywhere!!!! Golf carts can be rented......

tornadopat says "Very good service" about Office Max - Topeka, KS

I went into office max with several adds I had from the sunday paper to compare prices for computer printers. I had an add from Best Buy, Sears, and one other store so that i could compare prices and buy my wife a printer for her Birthday which is today 8 Jan along with my favorite dead singer - good old Elvis!!! I was looking for an HP or Lexmark which seemed to be the best buys around town during this period. I also had a grocery sack from Sundays paper to Officer Max which offered a 15% discount on items you could stuff in the bag. As I walked into the store I was greeted immediately with a hello from the lady behind the counter who saw I had the sack in my hand. She immediately said that anything I bought even if it wouldn't fit in the bag would be 15% off since i did have it with me. So I was greeted with a smile and a bonus of 15% off anything I bought. I asked her where the computer printers were and she left her post to show me. I compared all the prices with the......

tornadopat says "First bad experience here!!" about Sears - Topeka, KS

I personally hate it that first article has to be a bad experience at the Topeka Sears store as this family has shopped there for years with mostly excellent results. However, my ire was tested severely by a clerk in the appliance department on the 18th of December 2008. I was buying a dishwasher for my wife for Christmas. He said it was in stock and could be installed before Christmas. He took my order and asked for my home phone number which I gave to him. He needed it to check out my credit card I believe. When all was supposedly input into the system, he said they would call me to install the dishwasher. I told him I would like to change the number to my cell phone as my home didn't have an answering machine. He said he couldn't do that as he would have to do the whole ticket again. Well I wish he would as I called several days in a row to the 800 install number and they didn't see the ticket on their moniter. Needless to say after Christmas I called the store again to tell......
