tonymyles says "refreshing date movie for both sexes" about Enchanted

There is nothing like a movie like Enchanted to surprise you. In a culture where divorce is so "normal," it's good to be reminded that it isn't. This movie is great to watch alone or with your special honey....

tonymyles says "Clearly a movie for guys... which isn't always a good thing" about Transformers

Clearly a movie for guys... which isn't always a good thing. This movie had a lot of hype that created a lot of expectation among its viewers. While fan boys were probably moderately pleased, the general public was treated to another helping of Independence Day minus Wil Smith. In his place was a sarcastic teenager and some supermodel soldiers.

What really ruined this movie were the unnecessary shots of someone's cleavage that happened every five minutes or so. Again, the fanboys may not have minded but it became obvious after the fifth attempt that this was to make up for some uncertainty about the movie standing on its own legs. Throw in a rather repulsive conversation between a teenage boy and his parents about sexual matters and this flick went downhill fast.

Redeeming any shred of this is the special effects and clash of the metal titans. How much things were redeemed, though, is still up in the air.

...

tonymyles says "A great job at creating a family film with practical direction" about Evan Almighty

A great job at creating a family film with practical direction... this movie has a solid story that many can relate with, from Evan Baxter's search for success to his arguments with God. One of the best lines to sum up the movie is when Evan is asked what makes him so special and if he's sure God "chose" him... the response is that "God chose all of us,"

This is where some might say the movie gets preachy, but rather I find it to take on purpose. While the visuals and content of the movie are overtly Christian and biblical, anyone can catch on to the idea of random acts of kindness to change the world on life at a time. The idea of a family pulling together is needed in cinemas today, not to mention how a spouse's skepticism can turn into support.
...

tonymyles says "The best of the three, if you see all three" about The Bourne Ultimatum

This film is clearly the best of the three Bourne movies, if you have seen all three Bourne movies. I saw it with two friends, for instance, who hadn't seen any and found themselves lost in what was happening. On the other hand, I couldn't get enough of it and found myself on more than one occasion saying out loud, "Holy cow. Wow... I mean, holy cow."

Damon does it again, playing the beyond us role that he somehow makes believable. The action scenes had the traditional jerky camera, but this time it worked for the movie instead of against it. I was also thankful that any violence was preventative (self-defense) and not malicious. Still, violence is violence... this is still not at all a movie for younger audiences.
...

tonymyles says "There is a reason that this book is the top seller it is... " about The Purpose-Driven Life

There is a reason that this book is the top seller it is... it offers people looking for purpose just that - an understanding of the way they were designed and for the "bigger than us" opportunity we all have to live in each day.

That said, I don't think you're going to find profound revelation in these words. Rather, you will find reminders of truths that are buried within each of us. Warren does a great job of stating the obvious, and I mean that as a compliment. It's as if his words scratch itches many people wouldn't even know they had until after this read.

Yes, there is a lot of hype to this book and so many with critical eyes will be disappointed. If you approached this book with an open spirit, though, there is some rather intriguing insight that just might revolutionize the way you enter and exit each day of life on planet earth. Along the way you just might find yourself bumping into God bumping into you, and that's not a bad thing.
...

tonymyles says "Nice concept but the small screen seems limiting" about Flip Video Camcorder w/ Memory Stick

This camera product is relatively good for quick captures on the go, especially if you're looking for something that will allow you to grab a slice of the moment. The drawback for me, though, is that the small screen limits the playback potential for people looking for magnified review. If you're into critical editing, for instance, this can come back to bite you because you won't be able to see if you truly got what you originally wanted to get. Still, this is to be expected in something of this size.

If you're in the market for something that will allow you to grab short slices of material on the fly, then this could be what you're looking for. Be sure to shop around, though, because you can save a bundle if you catch the right deal.

...
