All my life I have gotten turned around and lost so many times it became a running joke. In January I got a TomTom One 3rd edition GPS device and I love it. My son's family lives in the Washington DC area and when I visit, I can navigate around the entire area with confidence now.

What I really enjoy is that I do not have to try driving looking at written directions. I can pay attention to traffic. I can glance at the TomTom and know what is coming up next. I have it set to alert me when turns or changes are coming. It announces the street name or upcoming route change 2 miles before, then again at 1/4 mile, and then at 500 feet. It is so nice to have a navigator!

Another feature I like is that you can have it alert you if you are speeding. I am notorious for being a lead foot and I have not received a speeding ticket since I began driving back in 1973, I'd really like to keep it that way. TomTom certainly had helped me with keeping the speed down. Saves gas too.

My husband and I enjoy our queen sized Sleep Number bed. We have always had trouble with agreeing on mattress firmness. Now we can customize it at the touch of a button.

The mattress is constructed so that there are two sides that can independently be inflated/deflated to individual comfort by a simple push of a button. No more rolling into the other person or sleeping on a mattress that is too hard or too soft.

We bought an optional feather down mattress cover which is quite comfortable and machine washable. You will need deep pocket sheets for the mattress. Sleep Number had a variety of these available or you can just make sure you are purchasing deep pocket fitted sheets.

There is one problem we have had and that is with the valve for the one side. We have had to replace it twice. It may have more to do with our bed frame which we had when we bought it. Although the Sleep Number mattress easily fits in it, the fit is probably not as good as it would be with a slightly...

Brunswick Pro Bowling for Nintendo Wii is great fun. I used to be an avid bowled and was sidelined permanently due to injuries.

You can open bowl or make a profile and develop your identity. This game is a bit of a challenge b/c you have to learn your bowling personality's style. You give your bowler attributes and can bowl in leagues and tournaments as you progress. As you become more accurate and your average increases it is reflected in your bowling personality.

There are some goofy animations when you hit the pins which slow the game down unless you turn them off. You can turn the music off but the talking in the background as you bowl is a real turn off. I love hearing the ball and pins which are quite realistic, but there is no way to get rid of the human 'chatter' that loops every 20 seconds or so.

They have lanes configured to allow the oil on the lanes to change just as they would on real lanes. Some of the hooks the characters are given can be hard to compensate...

We recently purchased a Wii system and love it. As 50-somethings we sometimes find it difficult to do very active sports, but the Wii allows us to do them again although with a little less physical effort or danger of the 'real' thing.

It is fun exercise. Now instead of always being tuned in to the TV, we fire up Wii and box, golf, play tennis or bowl. Both my husband I have lost a few pounds because of the added exercise in our routines.

We purchased the Brunswick Wii and I love it. I used to be an avid bowler but injuries sidelined me permanently. I love being able to bowl again! We have the Fitness Wii on order.

One caution is to be aware that you may work muscles you have not worked for a while. When they say to take a break every hour, heed that. It is so fun, you just want to keep on playing.

I have enjoyed Michael Beckwith's book Spiritual Liberation. Subtitle is: Fulfilling Your Soul's Potential. It is a book I will revisit often. In it he talks about spirituality, not religion, spirituality. And there is a difference.

He draws on the wisdom of many spiritual teachers, both ancient and more contemporary, as he invites us into an ever deepening relationship with ourselves and our God (whatever form that figure takes in the reader's belief system).

At the end of each chapter he presents an affirmation and then gives a detailed 'embodiment' of that affirmation. This is not a book on how to get things as so many are. Rather, it is a book that encourages thought, prayer and reflective action to embrace the whole of who we are.

One of my favorite affirmations is on page 141:

"On the ground where I now stand, I declare my aliveness, my sensitivity to the God that surrounds and infiltrates me. I live authentically, ever attuned to intuitive guidance from within that...
